Funnily enough I've never thought about what TYPE of Angel I am like I know what my humanoid form looks like but true form? Never thought about it. I know I have a lot of eyes so thinking I might be a Thorne but that doesn't feel right. So it's really between a Seraphim or Cherubim.
Pronunciation: tear (as in tearing paper) - oh- human | tear - anthrope Etymology: Ptero - relating to wings, having wings | Anthro - human, humanoid
A term for a 'type that is relatively human / humanoid and has wings. (more under cut)
Can be shortened to Pteran. Can be used by itself (ex. "I am pteran") or as an umbrella term (ex. "My pterantype is a siren").
Feel free to use either term (interchangeably or exclusively), but the intent was that "pterohuman" is for those who's pterantype still feels close to humanity, and "pteranthrope" is for those who are not comfortable associating their pterantype with humanity as closely.
This is a self-identifying term, that can include (but is not limited to):
human(oid)s who's only nonhuman trait is their wings
humanoids who have wings along with other nonhuman traits
angels
bird-like humanoids / avians
other human(oid)s with feathered wings
human(oid)s with bat, dragon, insect, or otherwise non-feathered wings
human(oid)s who can fly with their wings and those who can not
I'm struggling to create a symbol or flag for this identity that properly encapsulates all types of wings! If you are pterohuman, feel free to make your own, but please consider the meaning behind what you create (i. e. don't just make colorful stripes that look pretty).
