my five year plan? read a lot of books. visit museums. walk through woods. stand in a river. adopt a little kitty. drink lemonade while sitting in a rocking chair on my porch.
the thing about having hope is that it is so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so difficult. but you have to do it anyway

also i can’t help but think on the “dinner with pop” scene — i wonder if it served to show a version of logan that existed outside of business and manipulation, one we never saw and one the siblings may not have seen either. it could’ve been part of the catalyst for the sale at the end — seeing how logan could’ve been if everything wasn’t so tainted. and how they could be if they managed to get out.
maybe i’m in the minority but i think the ending overall felt positive… yes it was painful yes it hurt… but i saw that as shiv and roman realizing, in time to save kendall from himself, that there was no winning. nobody was there to save logan from his descent into evil, but kendall still had roman and shiv there to call bullshit on everything in the moment that kendall became closest to turning into logan. now they’re free — and it’s not an easy pill to swallow for kendall, but he walked away from the water in the end.
this vote coming down to shiv while the other came down to roman when both of them wanted out by the end of the episode was very full circle… i also think, in a way, it came down to roman both times — maybe shiv seeing roman dabbing the blood at the table made her think again… and then kendall attacking him outside sealed things for her. kendall’s violence toward roman this episode was very jarring and unsettling and paired with his denial of the waiter’s death felt like the nail in the logan coffin
girls when roman roy cries like he’s trying to be quiet like he’s gonna get punished for crying like he probably cried when he was a kid
i keep seeing people saying they don’t feel bad for roman for breaking down/don’t feel bad that kendall told him he fucked it because roman would’ve done the same thing to anyone else and… i don’t think that’s true? like in that context at least. obviously roman loves to act shitty and make fun of everyone but at the end of the day he loves the family like he really loves them. and he didn’t do that to kendall when he broke down in s3. i also think it’s worth noting that the reverse argument doesn’t even make sense because only roman would’ve broken down like that (imo — bc he represses his emotions the most/doesn’t have anyone he can confide in anymore/both loved and feared logan the most)
(at least some of) the old guard watching the video of roman crying at the funeral reception was so sinister.. because they had to have seen the siblings grow up? and saw how logan treated them? and then saw how roman fell apart in a way that we have never seen over the course of the show? and then they thought to pass along a video of it.. it’s actually unbelievable like what is their problem omfg
there was something harrowing about shiv seeing roman leave in tears to go sit in the car and immediately asking karl and frank just how bad logan was… was she asking to understand if roman’s grief was “worth it”? or was she maybe wondering why roman was so affected… how bad logan was to roman? especially following the “he made me breathe funny” comment
even with logan gone, roman cannot express emotions or be human without being punished for it. and even before the end of the wake, kendall has stepped in as his new punisher… with roman almost in disbelief at how kendall speaks to him — being shamed and ridiculed from the one who used to protect him. what else to do but search for comfort the only way he knows how? a fresh bruise
i see your “you can’t like roman roy cuz he’s an evil billionaire” and i raise you “it’s a tv show”
when gerri said “i could’ve gotten you there” and roman was just like yeah… i was just thinking how i don’t think roman even cares about getting “there.” like i think everything he did while logan was alive was just him trying to prove to him that he was worthy of love.. and i think that still looms over him except now the only people he really has are shiv and kendall and connor and even then it’s always shrouded in business. i think every decision he’s made has just been what he thinks will keep shiv and kendall from leaving him.
basically i think that there was no real “there” for roman. i think he’s just been chasing love the only way he knows how.
when shiv said they didn’t need to go see the body because it’s not like logan could be angry at them and roman just chuckled a little.. for me that was like logan is still hanging over him and would somehow be angry at roman .. like logan was obviously dead and yet his reaction to shiv saying logan wouldn’t be angry was one of disbelief
SUCCESSION ▸ you talk about love?
