Happy Old Year (Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit, 2019) 4.5/5
I’ve been hearing a lot about Nawapol from my friends but I never know where to watch his films so it’s only now that I got to see one because his latest film just got released on Netflix. I actually really liked it. I wasn’t sure I was going to because I am sometimes averse to ~aesthetic~ films but this one works because it doesn’t draw much attention to its hipness. It also portrayed a world that is believable throughout which is another crucial thing especially for a film about artists. Most importantly, one can actually connect to the characters which is what’s usually missing from these sort of films. Only problem now is where to get ahold of his other films. 🤔
