Deadly Outlaw Rekka

Currently watching my old copy of Deadly Outlaw Rekka. How could I ever for a moment let my love for Takashi Miike movies slip my grip? This movie is the best! I have an eternal crush on Riki Takeuchi and his hair and his yakuza grunty face.

If you don’t know. This film guest stars the late Joe Yanmanaka, of The Flower Travallin Band. It also features the album Satori as the soundtrack.

It’s probably one of my favorite Miike moves next to “The Bird People in China”, and it’s probably my favorite yakuza movies. I don’t know why I used to study the Yakuza. At that time in my life I really wanted to move to Japan and marry Riki and have a bunch of little grunty faced babies. Needless to say, I am happy with the outcome of my life thus far. I just miss that thrill these movies used to give me.

What I love about this era of Miike is how there was always a scene where all the characters sat down together and ate a meal like a family. I think they even do that in “Ichi the Killer”.
