Hey I know that we’re dealing with something huge right now but trump is trying to allow adoption agencies to refuse services to lgbtq+ families.... not only is this descrimination but there are TOO many children in the system for them to allow this. Those kids need homes.... I’m disgusted

2p! Axis pride month HCs?

2p N. Italy:

- He doesn’t make too much of a bug deal out of the month, he’ll celebrate here and there because it’s a month he feels safe but it’s not much different than any other day for him

- Almost always dragged out to a pride parade by 2p S. Italy, he tries to enjoy himself but he isn’t good with crowds

- Likes reading stories/learning about the first prides and taking this month more for learning LGBTQ+ history than partying

- Has and will punch a protestor if he feels like they deserve it for being too annoying or just in general

2p S. Italy:

- Makes pride month a HUGE thing and goes out celebrating a lot or hosting pride parties

- He goes to a LOT of parades with a large flag and he just generally has a great time celebrating with people and having fun

- Pride month has always been a really huge thing for him due to how much it’s actually helped

- He donates to a lot of charities that help LGBTQ+ youth already but he likes to see if he can volunteer so they don’t feel left out

2p Germany:

- Isn’t technically dad but he sees his citizens as his children so he wears those “free dad hugs” shirt so he can make people feel a little better

- Has difficulties with how many conflicting noises can be at parades so he’ll only go if he has some sort of earbuds/earplugs or headphones to block out noise if he needs to

- Dresses in basically solely his flag colours because he’s happy with how far he’s come accepting himself

- He mostly celebrates for the first week then tones it down a bit for the rest

2p Japan:

- Doesn’t pay much attention to pride, he’s happy people celebrate and accept but he mostly just wants to get away from all the crowds

- Doesn’t go to parades but he may celebrate either alone or with close friends in his house

- He has on some years gone to a parade but he mostly just stayed at the sidelines

- Can also punch a protestor but much prefers screaming over them because it makes them angry

i get slightly irritated, but simultaneously relieved that the amount of followers i have decreased when i begin talking about human rights and not about which fictitious character has the biggest dick. for people who don’t know, black lives matter doesn’t mean that the lives of other races do not matter. it means that the lives in the black community have been mistreated and systematically for FOUR HUNDRED YEARS been oppressed and they are tired as being seen as subhuman. it is so unbearable to see people trying to blame protestors for being angry and to see cops try to justify they’re unnecessary violence against unarmed civilians. you continue to expect a group of people who have been beaten down in history again and again and again, to be the bigger person. to take the high road, and not respond violently. they have responded peacefully and with respect and nothing has changed. because a cop stacked to the T in riot gear is so threatened by unarmed civilians who only have things like signs and water bottles. you can have the money to arm police officers to harm UNARMED CIVILIANS EXERCISING THEIR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT rather than have free healthcare, house the homeless community, give flint michigan the clean water they haven’t have for 6 YEARS. but are so quick to get the military against civilians who protest about HUMAN RIGHTS.

how long are african americans going to have to teach their children about police brutality and how to behave when confronted by police. how many more lives are you going to be thrown away by incompetent police who have too much power. how long are we going to continue the trauma on new generations of african americans. how long are you going to stand by while they are murdered in broad daylight with no accountability.

this isn’t a new occurrence either. only now it is being shown to the world, but this is something that they have gone through for GENERATIONS and still nothing is done.

don’t say all lives matter if you’re not going to include black lives. don’t say all lives matter while shooting into a group a people. don’t say all lives matter and turn a blind eye to people of color being murdered. if you say all lives matter, you don’t really believe “all lives matter”. you’re just trying to cover up someone’s struggles with a blanket statement and sweep them under the rug.

the way america has treated people of color, especially black americans (and don’t even get me started on indegenous native americans) is so disgusting that it makes me physically sick and it should make you sick as well to see people’s livelihoods and rights being taken away.

and because i have a platform with a decent following i’m going to keep talking about this until something is done. and if you continue to unfollow me because i’m talking about a group of people should having humans rights, gladly get the fuck out and PLEASE let the door hit you on the way.

staying silent will do so much damage if you “don’t want to be involved in politics”. this isn’t politics, this is the harsh reality that needs attention and needs to be changed.

hmmm. customer was asking me if id been to any protests lately. gave the general “how could i when im always at work” response. he keeps going asking about where protests are being held/how he’s having trouble locating them and “it’s been hundreds of years coming so im not suprised”. he buys a lotto ticket and opens his wallet, which surprise surprise also contained a police badge..

i know there’s a lot going on but ICE are now one step closer to literally creating gas chambers. they are spraying a chemical called HDQ neutral roughly 100 times a day, every 15 minutes at the adelanto detention center (one of the biggest in the country). people are getting rashes, headaches, their insides are bleeding, etc. the guards are wearing gloves and masks but the detainees have NOTHING. and here’s a quick reminder - america inspired the nazis to create gas chambers when they gassed latino people during the 1917 bath riots.

On Sixth Anniversary Of Flint Water Crisis, Flint Still Has No Backup Water Source

Flint, MI–On the sixth anniversary of the Flint water crisis, Flint is again in the midst of a crisis.

Six years after the disastrous switch to the Flint River as a source of drinking water for the city, which led to an outbreak of Legionnaire’s Disease and toxic levels of lead leaching into the water, the city remains in violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act for not having a reliable secondary drinking water source.

Mayor Sheldon Neeley sent a stern message to Flint city council Monday to, “finish the job,” referring to the 21-inch diameter, five-and-a-half-mile pipe, that would connect Genesee County’s water system to Flint. The pipe would ensure that should the current system, which pulls Lake Huron water via Detroit, fail, Flint would have a readily available source of water.

As of now, the only backup source the city has are water reservoirs, which would only supply residents with drinkable water for a matter of days. If anything, such as a major line break or any other unpredictable event that could compromise the city’s water, it’s unclear where Flint would go next once the reservoirs run dry. “The results could be catastrophic,” Neeley said.

The city, per federal law, must have a secondary source of water. The proposed project would be paid for by an Obama era bill, the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act. The act authorized $100 million in funding for “Flint, Mich., to recover from the lead contamination in its drinking water system.” According to the EPA, $87 million of that money has not been spent.

The proposed backup system was due to be completed in December of 2019 at a cost of $14.7 million in federal funds. On Monday, the council again voted 4 to 4 delaying construction.  A majority vote of six would be needed from the nine-person council to reconsider the contract before they could revisit the project.
