Another day down on the journey! Just finished a solid two sets of 2x20, 2x30, 2x50! Speed Kills!
Torrential rain, sunshine, more rain. Sometimes the victory is in getting it done, regardless of the conditions (or the soreness 😬).
This was me less than a year ago preparing for Masters Nationals or #MastersNatties. I was in great shape but stopped competing when I started going back to school.
Road to State at age 32!
I turned 32 nearly a month ago. Since I stopped running college track I have struggled to stay in shape. In large part, this has been because of work and coaching however I chalk it up to lack of motivation. Just recently, I began a Masters in Teaching program and since, I have gained nearly 20lbs to my 6'2" 195lb frame. Long story short, I am no longer in my program and am looking forward to getting back in shape and living a healthier lifestyle.
So why the “Road to State” title? Well, I’m currently coaching at a local high school and have been thinking to myself, “at age 32, could I qualify for the State meet?” I am opening this page to address what I said earlier in this post, motivation.
1) I react so much better to deadlines 2) If I am posting regularly, I’ll feel an added accountability to not quit 3) it would be really cool to see if I can do it
“How can you qualify for state if you’re 32,” you ask?
My plan is, I will compete in time trials each week and ultimately compare my times to those of the state qualifying meets. If my times are equal to or better than the last qualifier, I make the cut. If I don’t! I don’t. Think of it as that MTV show Made.
“Do I still ‘got’ it?” This is the page that answers that question.
Welcome to my page.
