Where's all the new Haunts?!?!

I know what you're all thinking. "Its October Austin! Where is 31 Days of Haunts?!" Well the truth is I'm not doing it this year. Last year's batch kinda ran me into the ground and was done in the midst of one of the worst times of my life. Needless to say it was all kind of ruined for me. So I'm sorry there won't be any new haunts this year, but a break is sorely needed. There are plenty of other cool things I'm working on right now that you will soon be able to see. And there's always the last three years of 31 DOH you can revisit here on this tumblr.

The amount of attention I've gotten on this tumblr is mind boggling! Thanks so much to everybody who's liked and reblogged my 31 DOH. To know that there are people out there that really enjoy what I'm doing helps me keep going. I'm very thankful for all those who have shown their support.

Now, it's time to eat food, drink booze, get fat, and sleep. Mmmm Thanksgiving. :)

31 Days of Haunts is back again for its third year of spooky enchantments! Every day for the month of October I will attempt to draw a picture that is Halloween themed. Roger and Evelyn barely make it out as Thorncrest Manor goes up in flames. Will the fire purge the mansion of it's curse? Or is the curse not in the house, but in the family line of the Thorncrests? Which ever it is, Roger and Evelyn will live to tell the tale of the night they survived Thorncrest Manor! I'm quite happy to be done with this years series. This year was the hardest by far. I fell behind and stayed behind all month long, as you're most likely aware. It was due to many issues, but the important thing is I finished. Phew! I hope you enjoyed the pieces and following along on the adventures of Roger Thorncrest and Evelyn Thatcher. Thanks for all the support and kind words I received over this project. 31 Days of Haunts is back again for its third year of spooky enchantments! Every day for the month of October I will attempt to draw a picture that is Halloween themed. For my last pen and inked picture for this years 31 DOH I thought I would draw a little winged goblin fella eating some pumpkin stew. The design was definitely influenced by Brian Froud and David Goode, both whom I'm big fans of. Check out their work! Pencil, pen, sharpie, photoshop. About 5-6 hours Enjoy!

Evil rises out of the pores of Thorncrest Manor! The only way to put an end to this and save Evelyn is if Roger can find the last clue in the Thorncrest Diary. He... can... almost... reach.... it! 31 Days of Haunts is back again for its third year of spooky enchantments! Every day for the month of October I will attempt to draw a picture that is Halloween themed. One day Daniel Whitaker tried his hand at bobbing for apples. It was one of the many fun activities available at his schools Halloween dance. Pressured by his peers, and trying to forget his fear of drowning, Daniel submerged his head in the cold water. He quickly realized this was more fun than he thought. He also found he was a natural at the game.  Just when Daniel had his jaws set to bite into one the crisp apples, he couldn't help but notice the dead shriveled hands reaching up towards him from the now bottomless pail he was currently sticking his head in. When did the bottom disappear? And why must it be him who had to witness the horror of the murky depths? There were plenty of perfectly horrible children who had had their turns before him. Surely no one would have missed them if they had been pulled down to a watery grave. So why had the hands come for him? Daniel had no time to find an answer. He had to act swiftly! But more importantly, he needed to snatch his apple, or everyone would make fun of him for failing at the game. And public ridicule seemed a far worser fate for our boy with the ears. Roger and Evelyn escape the horde of ravenous rats at the bottom of the crypt. They press in from all sides and fire doesn't seem to scare them. Was this what the woman in white wanted them to see? A friend of mine recently watched Shaun of the Dead for the first time so I was inspired to draw something from the movie. That movie is just too good. Seriously. Roger and Evelyn follow an apparition out of the manor and into the surrounding woods. There's something very hypnotizing about the woman in white. Maybe she will lead to more clues about the history of Thorncrest Manor. Or maybe she will lead Roger and Evelyn to their doom... pencil, photoshop, an unspecified number of hours. Enjoy!

Every once and a while, I'm somehow able to channel the drawing skills of someone who's way more awesome than me. It doesn't last very long. Just long enough to finish the drawing I'm working on. 31 Days of Haunts is back again for its third year of spooky enchantments! Every day for the month of October I will attempt to draw a picture that is Halloween themed.

It's time again for my Halloween in Bioshock picture! When trying to figure out what to do for this, I knew I wanted to do something that had to do with pumpkins and the Farmer's Market. Then this idea popped into my head. It's probably before the fall of Rapture... not sure when. But things were definitely functioning during this picture.

I figured since they use Adam all the time, they would have made some insane pumpkins. I also realized if they're using Adam to help with the growth of their plants and trees, then there would be no reason for the leaves to change colors. Autumn in Rapture is always green. It makes for a strange look... And I'm sure their corn maze would have been awesome! I just want to go here!!!

Some time in the recent past I finished the fifth season of the show Supernatural. I made the decision to stop right there and not let something that I'd come to really enjoy go even more downhill. I could sense it's descent.  Also I've recently been really digging the work of Patrick Schoenmaker. I thought it would be cool to try doing a picture of the Winchester boys in his style. I don't think it's exactly like he would have done it. It was pretty different for me. I wouldn't mind experimenting more with it in the future... pencil, pen, photoshop, about 5 hours? Enjoy!

This is most likely a self portrait of when I was 7 or 8. I had tons of Goosebump books and would just eat those things up. I loved those things. I think my favorite part about them were the covers.  They were kinda like collector's items. My mom made me eventually get rid of them because she thought they were too scary for me when I really just wanted more.
