Justice For The 3 Drowned Black Girls

On March 31st 2016, three teenaged black girls- Dominique Battle, Ashaunti Butler and La’Niyah Miller were viciously slain by the Pinellas County Police Department of St. Petersburg, Florida. They were (illegally) pursued by the police and ultimately chased into a swamp where the police vindictively stood by and watched them drown, literally joking amongst themselves (as their own dashcam footage showed) as the girls gasped their last, desperate breaths. We, the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement, have formed this campaign because we are committed to achieving Justice for these girls. The Pinellas County Police WILL answer for their crimes! We will NOT stand for one more black life claimed by the murderous police!

For this reason, and this reason alone, trumped up charges of “resisting arrest without violence” have been lodged against her. We see this as a clear, and desperate, attempt to silence a powerful voice of the black community, derail the campaign for justice for Dominique Battle, Ashaunti Butler and Laniya Miller and, ultimately, discourage the black community’s fight for economic/ social/ political self-determination. . We will not allow this. We must do all we can to Keep our leaders in the community and out of the clutches of the state.
