sorry for being inactive, i lost all motivation for writing after uploading that one chapter and started focusing on my art more😭

anyways i was thinking about post rumbling mikasa and i can’t decide which concept i like more for a fic:

eren coming back after 2 years and the complicated relationship that would form between them orrrr mikasa moving on with an original character except ghost eren (or more of like a hallucination) is everywhere and by everywhere i mean EVERYWHERE, like he’s always showing up and its so vivid, he’d be a third fully present character.

i feel like both are so interesting, but ghost eren just has a certain element of haunting horror that i adore, like the idea of mikasa laying in bed with her new man and she turns over to the other side only to feel the cool sensation of eren’s ghost suddenly embracing her.

if anyone has read the invisible life of addie la rue, i think i would write their relationship sort of similar to luc and addie, where ghost eren is asking mikasa to “let go” but in reality it’s just mikasa’s subconscious and her suicidal thoughts manifested in the form of eren as she’s trying to battle them.

i love how the few times mikasa takes the initiative to fight for someone that isn’t one of her comrades during a mission, it’s always a young girl who reminds her of herself and how she was that one day she lost her parents

she was saved by someone once and now she will save others the same way, and i appreciate how it nicely ties to her being the one to free ymir—who appears as a young girl for the majority of her screen time

I gotta say, about 95-98% of complaints about Mikasa are “she didn’t react calmly and maturely in the midst of mass death and destruction or the LITERAL apocalypse”

yupp!!! and it’s honestly so tiring to see because what mikasa was going through during those final arcs was just so awful and it obviously put her in such a bad mental state

mikasa didn’t just lose her one of her closed friends and watched her loved one turn into a cruel monster who is capable of murdering so many innocent people and children. she is also simultaneously experiencing an identity crisis as a result of what eren had told her about the ackerman genes.

we have a whole scene where mikasa tells armin that she’s not sure if she wants to help eren (when they’re in the jail cell considering fighting alongside the yeagerists) because she genuinely wants or if it’s just because of her blood

what eren said had completely shattered mikasa’s sense of self and identity making her feel lost and helpless which is completely different to how mikasa used to be in earlier seasons

mikasa in earlier seasons had so many moments where she is focused and determined, always ready to strike and being the one to encourage the people around her to fight back when they’re unable to

but now she is in a vulnerable state that we have never seen her in before, she lost that priority that she has always fought for and no longer knows what exactly she wants to do anymore.

this vulnerability is what adds layers to her character and makes her feel more human, cause if mikasa never experienced any of these pushbacks all of her haters would’ve been calling her a “mary sue”

complex characters don’t exist to be fit into a box or a trope, they’re dynamic characters who have good traits as well as flaws, they’re capable of making good decisions as much as they are capable of making bad ones, and mikasa is one of these characters

we should never forgive the writers for how they handled taissa and her family actually

i love van and i love taivan but it felt like the writers just got so lazy with tai’s writing after they introduced them into the story

seeing the finale scene with natalie was just so beautiful until i remembered what happens in the adult timeline, lol

that said i’m so interested in seeing her post-rescue—her first line from the adult tl was her talking about how she lost her purpose when she came back, you’d think a line like that would come from someone like shauna instead because natalie was the one most desperate to leave, and i wonder if a part of her post rescue regretted it

it reminds me of what lottie told her, “what home do you have to return to?” maybe she only realized that when she came back, that there was no place for her back home, only out in the wilderness

also i loved seeing mistynat this ep, the angst is so good and i felt like the build up of there relationship this season was perfect set up for the later interactions we see between the two of them.

i’m also interested in seeing how she reconnected with travis after their rescue, considering how they were so close in the adult tl but we hardly saw them interact this season

shauna is obsessed with power, she’s obsessed with proving herself dominant over others—and her trauma from the time spent in the wilderness turned that obsession into a violent more sinister one, but it has always existed

cheating with jeff on jackie was her way of proving her power over jackie but in a way that wasn’t confrontational, it was her resentment of jackie that grew this need to prove her dominance.

watching this 17 year old girl who is extremely jealous of her best friend, turn into a violent and cruel dictator who gets a thrill out of imbedding fear into others’ hearts, hunts her own friends down and become this psychopathic monster was just insane

i have A LOT of problems with the show’s writing but i do believe they did a great job with shauna

(also i just wanna say, she isn’t a character meant to be defended, it was easier to sympathize with her at first but shauna has crossed the line of “the traumatic victim who can’t help it” a long time ago—she’s just evil now, and that’s fine.)

i posted the 1st chapter two weeks ago but was extremely embarrassed to share it on here ‘cause i felt like my lack of skill in writing was too apparent

but we all start somewhere so i’m just gonna keep writing until i get better, if anyone reads it and has any kind of constructive criticism or tips pls share them :3
