Gil’s face flushed for a moment at the comment of a big strong pirate. He ducked his face for a moment, before saying, “My father was great, just hard to impress.. but I mean i doubt you know anything about that. Gorgeous, talented, brilliant, your mother was always proud of you– even when you left the island.” Gil was surprised often how connected all their parents were, the tales he heard growing up often never living up to the sad reality they all witnessed. “And I mean you got off the isle, and from what I heard you were making something of yourself.” He added with a shrug. If Gil had a choice at another life, he always knew he’d chose his friends and where ever they went. He was a pirate cause Harry and Uma were pirates, if they were thieves, he’d be thieves. He didn’t quite understand how to be without having others tell him what to do.
evie smiled softly when she saw his face flush. she let out a soft chuckle. “not if she’s anything like the mother i have here. she’s impossible to impress. always something more to work on. never perfect enough,” she said with a small shrug. she had been relieved to get away for college. at least then she wouldn’t have to hear her mother berating her over something. “i suppose. i just wish i could remember it. i mean i’m trying here and all. fashion degree and such,” she rambled slightly, her cheeks flushing. she was glad to have met her new friends. evie had known what it was like to be alone. and now that she had friends, she wasn’t going to let them go. and that included gil.
