As Monkey D Luffy is to Joyboy, Nika and the Hito Hito Nomi, so is Trafalgar D water Law to Davy Jones and the Ope Ope Nomi. (Updated and Expanded)
I just also loaded this on reddit under Haunting-Composer264....
As Monkey D Luffy is to Joyboy, Nika and the Hito Hito Nomi, so is Trafalgar D water Law to Davy Jones and the Ope Ope Nomi. He will be Luffy's ultimate partner in the fight against Imu
Skeptical? That's fine. But please consider the following...
Oda Said Law's flower is the Queen of the Night which is also sometimes known as The Dutchman's Pipe Cactus. Dutchman is well linked in modern myth, if not historically as a name for Davy Jones' Ship. Was this Oda teasing the fanbase about Law's hidden role in the narrative in days ahead?
Oda has also said that Law is an avid coin collector. Who else in narrative is constantly taking coin as tribute via both regular Seaman's Tradition and the Davy Back Rituals? Who just unintentionally dedicated what is likely most if not ALL of his coin collection to Davy in recent days when his sub was sunk? Could this tribute be the way by which Law's own awakenings increased and the reason Xebec may have increased the Davy Back Toll Fights to increase his own power base?
His full name is not just Trafalgar D Law but Trafalgar D Water Law, which he tried to explain in panel is his family's long kept secret name which they kept deliberately concealed for whatever reason. Additionally the navel battle of Trafalgar was a battle between the English, French and Spanish that established British Naval Supremacy for over a hundred years. The drawings we have of French Buildings back at that time is EERILY similar looking to Mary Geoise the Capital of the World Government. IE Could Law and his crew both be key allies of the Strawhats in the coming battle ahead, with them excelling on the open water while the Strawhats work mainly on land?
Davy Jones is painted in canon as the ledger keeper, the debt settler etc. He is being painted repeatedly as a being of order and measure and careful scale and balance in his domain within his world's entire seas. He is the LAW dude by definition and the payment accountant and debt payer. This actually makes inordinate amounts of sense too - after all his world is ruled by by the constant unrelenting order of forces like the tides and the current etc.
4b. The above acknowledged, who else does this sound like in current narrative? Who is the show's openly and repeatedly mocked plan maker? Consider how Law personally responded to HIS OWN HOMELAND'S SLOW DEATH BY POISONING while the rest of the rest of the world turned a blind eye to his people's suffering just like what was described as happening to Davy Jones' Kingdom way back in the second age of the planet before he raged. Law narratively is all about finding and cutting out the poison and its resulting rot that threatens the world (as well as those who cause it). He was already so much that kind of person that even as early as age ten he was more than ready to burn the whole world to the ground in revenge until Corazon interceded as an older, MARINE voice of empathy and reason. Hell, even today Law says Cora saved his life and empathy both when he otherwise would have lost it in his grief.
05. Now look at his hand tats again. Is death the current status of his old kingdom? Could the Black circle in the center circled by a circle broken into four segments that rests on his hands actually be symbolism for the four Blues that make the four sections of his currently broken kingdom. Could his Jolly Roger with Corazon's face instead of the black in the center be indication both his kingdom and the circle around it is healing? Has Oda been telling us from the first time we saw him that he has a crown too but must hold it in his hands right now because it is still broken?
06. Law is presently the only pirate captain we have observed in in One Piece that we have seen that constantly sails without any apparent fear under the water, even despite him being a devil fruit user himself, while his beloved crew is full of people named after various marine animals. Law deals in narrative repeatedly with his own sense of weakness and helplessness, yet even in his darkest hours he still protects his crew with a love and ferocity fitting not just the most badass of big brothers but the fury of a king who already failed his people too many times in the past and in terrified of doing so again. In that context could the Polar Tang be considered Davy's LITERAL Locker as it is both metal and hides away what is most important to him? Could it also explain why Law has never pushed that hard for his people to get stronger as opposed to just being safe and themselves?
07. As a child when Law required saving from both corruption and fatal disease, the man who actually ended up saving both his life and his future was an undercover MARINE. Even after Cora's tragic death, Law continues maintain have multiple ties to other marines throughout his arcs including Smoker, Koby during the Rocky Port Incident, Drake who let him escape from jail during his time in Wano and Sengoku (who is now retired but sees Law as his last link to his own son). Are some of those same Marines likely to express concern/intercede when they discover that Blackbeard and his crew have been attacked Law and the Hearts? Have ANY marines tried to go against Lawever succeeded in the long term against Law's own plans or has he always come out on top in those struggle? If so, it that yet another indication Oda has given via subtext that Law has some special MARINE SUPREMANCY? (I have QUESTIONS about Cora for the record, but that's another post entirely)
08. With all the above on the table i need do ask you all a question: given the parallels above that point to Law being VERY connected to Davy Jone's domain, and the sucesses of Law and Luffy's first alliance in present day, were JoyBoy and Davy really painted in canon as dyed in the wool cut-throat enemies or were they both instead maybe just equal opposites whose differing intrinsic natures made them prone to clash whenever they tried to work in sync? We have all seen within in the text how the World Government loves to try and smear its enemies. May they have trashed not only JoyBoy's true nature, but also Davy's? And if so what does that say about how afraid they were not just of one but of both of them? Especially when the two were prepared to work in unison.
09. If Joy Boy and Davy in the Void Century were in fact, as I currently suspect, reluctant allies despite their differing natures than could the mentioned 'betrayal' of their old alliance have come about not due to DELIBERATE betrayal on one of their parts but rather because of a mutual misunderstanding? That would be much like, I have to add, when Law recently broke his own alliance with Luffy even though Luffy would clearly have been thrilled to see it continue, because aftrn Law likely saw Luffy's own crews' refusal to help his own captured crew as unforgivable BETRAYAL of a group he can no fail again and so Law resolved from here on out to handle things himself even at the cost of great risk to his own personal safety while Luffy watched someone he considered a friend walk away without even trulu understanding what had even gone wrong between them/what pushed Law and his Hearts into leaving?
10. Are all the stories of the first appearance of JoyBoy just meant to be narrative mirrors to both mens' presents that are once again repeating? Who did the Harley Murals refer to when they said in the first and second murals 'they can/will' never meet again, only to change it to they will meet again in the third section? Was that Nika, Davy and The Earth God? A restorative trio that may combat a the threefold evil Blackbeard is building via Devilfruit currently?
11. Think about the nature of Law's own Devil Fruit more carefully for a moment. It allows him to claim a specific territory and exercise full authority over it for only a limited amount of time depending on his own strength and stamina. Just like say, a AMBASSADOR exerting authority over their own EMBASSY in a foreign land. If this is the nature of the fruit in question that might also explain why when Law DOES have that authority it is so blasted over powered compared to many other Devil Fruits. (Some speculate after all that the Ope Ope Nomi fully awakened might well be comparable in power only to Luffy's own incredibly overpowered skill set, which would make sense if Joyboy and Davy were actually equal opposites to one another/wary allies who clashed stylistically but who didn't actually hate each other so much as their innate personalities and domains clashed too much for them to work together easily.) What if they were basically the God equivalents of a pair off standoffish work acquaintances who nonetheless agreed to bury the hatchet in the face a greater evil during the second age only for that plan to fail in part DUE to those difference and so now both Davy and Joyboy's echoes need to reemerge to fight Imu together again in order to both free Davy's Kingdom from its shackled state and to destroy the Celestial Dragons in the process of doing so.
12. There are two other details worth noting before I conclude, one, Law is currently carrying around a cursed sword of mysterious origins which appears able to cut through literally ANYTHING within Law's Room whenever he wants it to do so. Is Kikoku's presence mean to serve as silent indicator that sometime in the not too far future Law might try and use it to purposely chop apart whole sections of underwater mountains in Wano in the hopes of finally getting his hands on a vessel that could be capable of freeing both his people and his land...? With all four Blues' water levels unexplainedly rising as well, as we learned on Egghead Island does that mean Davy's kingdom is also currently expanding in scope and power both as the floods bring more treasure and more dead into his kingdom's grasp? Is he going to awaken even faster in the days ahead as a result?
There are so many, SO many mirrors between Harley Murals and the present day and I have so many, many questions.
Oda you MAGNIFICENT BASTARD, as always well done. Because I truly think we might be looking a Narrative Rule of 3 repeat in the Manga with the repeat happening one time an AGE. To which I say Oda you magnificent, BRILLIANT BASTARD. Well done. AWESOME TWIST.
