Sorry for vanishing on y’all😭 In the end, i unfortunately wasn’t able to deliver the completed story I promised and I sincerely apologize for that. I hate to think how many of you I disappointed. On the bright side, I was recently asked by @4townsparisiannight to make a post detailing where all the characters ended up in the future, and I decided to post the completed wedding along with it. Mind you, there are still a few gaps and somewhat incomplete scenes since I did struggle to get all my words out, but all in all, it’s here. The following post with the characters futures will be here as soon as I can get it together. Thanks to anyone who remained loyal, I hope you’ll enjoy what I have left to share!!
Naturally Robaire was the first to wake up on October 6, 2004. He looked around the hotel room at 2ron sleeping peacefully in the bed beside him, and then at Taeyoung who was fast asleep next to him. He picked up his phone to check the time. Panic.
“Holy shit.” Robaire jumped out of bed and ran into the next room. “Jes, get up.” He started shaking Jesse. “It’s almost 8 o’clock, we need to start getting ready.”
Jesse groaned. “Five more minutes.”
“Get up, punk.” Robaire crossed his arms. “You’re getting married today.”
Jesse’s eyes shot open. “Oh fu—”
“Hey, hey. Little ears next to you.” Robaire gestured to Marcel. He turned to the other bed. “Sean, Danny, start waking up. It’s time.”
“Ugh, but I’m still hungover from that wild bachelor party last night.” Sean rolled over.
“What do you mean wild?” Danny sat up. “We stayed in here and watched stupid movies. And you only had one beer, you lightweight.”
“That’s more than you had.” Sean smacked Danny in the head.
“Boys, we don’t have time to argue.” Robaire shook his head. “Sean, I need you to go down to the diner and pick up breakfast. I placed the order yesterday so they should open up for you. Danny, go in the other room and wake everyone else up. I’ll get everyone’s suits together.” He instructed. “And Jesse WAKE UP!”
“LEAVE ME ALONE!” Jesse whined. “If I get up, that means today will start, and if today starts then there’s gonna be a million things to potentially go wrong and derail the road to a perfect day with a perfect woman. ”
“And?” Robaire crossed his arms. “What if you get up and everything goes right?” He asked. “And even if it doesn’t, isn’t Selina worth all the risks?”
Jesse let out a heavy sigh. “Worth that and more.” He finally got up. “But let’s try to be quiet. I wanna let Marcel sleep until breakfast is here.”
“EEEEP!” Danny sprinted back into the room. “There’s an evil, scary monster in there.” He hid behind Jesse.
“Oh c’mon, Danny. You’re 19 now, how could…” Jesse froze. “Oh my god, did you warn him about T?”
Robaire’s eyes widened. “Shit.”
There was a knock at the door.
“Dumbass. You can’t just let anyone in.” Sean smacked his little brother upside the head. “You don’t know who that is.”
“Hello?” Jesse shot him a look. “Your nephew is right there.”
“Oh, he’s not paying attention.” Sean rolled his eyes. “Those buttons require all his attention.”
“Is anyone gonna get the goddamn door?!” Robaire waved his arms. “I’d do it myself but I already have to do EVERYTHING else.”
“SEVEN YEAR OLD IN THE ROOM.” Jesse yelled back at him. “What can you not figure out about that?”
Taeyoung looked around and noticed everyone else was busy. He groaned and headed to the door. When he checked the peephole, he immediately flung the door open.
“Knock, knock. Special delivery from the bride.” Olivia pushed him aside as she stepped in.
Z’s eyes lit up when he saw her. “Oh, Livvy, you look like a little flower. It’s adorable.” He paused. “Wait a minute, what’re you doing here? Weren’t you coming with Lijah and Kumi?”
“I asked Dad to drop me off earlier. I figured an extra hand could be used around here and I guess I was right.” Olivia shrugged. “Jesse, your soon-to-be wife wrote you this little note.”
Jesse took the note. “Awww, that’s so—”
“And she wants one back.” Olivia held out her hand.
“Shoot.” Jesse started searching his pockets. “Uh, Robaire?”
Robaire groaned. “Left jacket pocket.”
“Thanks, man.” Jesse pulled out the note and handed it to Olivia. “Do me a favor and tell her the chocolate smudge is from Marcel. He tried to snatch the card from me while he was eating a Snickers bar.”
Olivia looked at the card. “You want me to tell her you let him eat chocolate?”
“She won’t care if it’s Snickers.” Jesse shook his head. “She likes to pretend that it’s healthy just cuz it has nuts.”
“I mean…okay, go off I guess.” Olivia turned to head out.
“Hey, Livvy.” T caught her attention. “I think you made someone a little pouty when you didn’t say hi to him.” He gestured to Taeyoung who was still standing by the door, cross armed.
“Awww, Tae-Tae.” Olivia walked over to him with a smile. “Are you all sourpussed because I pushed you away?”
“No.” Taeyoung lied. “Okay, yes. That was mean. I thought we were friends.”
Olivia laughed. “I admit I had ulterior motives for coming early. I was hoping I’d see you here.”
Taeyoung tried and failed to hold back his smile. “Really?” He giggled. “Okay, I forgive you for ignoring me.”
“I wasn’t asking to be forgiven.”
“Well you hurt my feelings.” Taeyoung narrowed his eyes. “So you should be.”
“I was here to deliver something to Jesse. Y’know, the groom of this wedding?” Olivia crossed her arms. “Not everything’s about you, Taeyoung.”
“If everything’s not about me then—” He paused and sighed. “Guys, I’ll be right back. I’m gonna walk Olivia back to the West Tower.”
“Mkay, hurry ba—YOU WHAT?” Robaire yelled.
“Chillax, we still have some time.” Taeyoung waved his hand as he and Olivia headed out of the room. “Anyway, I’m a Valentine’s Day baby. Of course everything is about me.”
Everyone stared as the door shut behind them.
“If they start getting physical again and I have to redo his hair, I’m gonna kill him.” T shook his head.
“Really?” Danny blinked a few times. “He gets into physical fights…with a sixteen year old?”
“A sixteen year old who could kick his ass if she wanted to.” Z said nonchalantly. “No offense, babe.”
Marcel laughed. “Ass is a funny word.”
“I told you he could hear you.” Jesse glared at them.
“Don’t look at me.” T shook his head. “I’m keeping all my swearing in my head.”
Z shot him a look. “I guess you think mumbling under your breath is in your head.”
“I’M BACK!” Olivia burst into the room. “Sorry, we got sidetracked. And by that I mean we got lost.”
“Hey, Selina.” Taeyoung said, covering his eyes. “You probably look great right now, but I was told I’m not allowed to see you yet.”
“Awww, thanks, Tae.” Selina smiled. “That’s very sweet of…both of you, I guess.”
“Now get out.” Olivia nudged him. “This is supposed to be a boy free zone.”
“I’m going, I’m going.” Taeyoung rolled his eyes as he turned to leave. “But I’m still sneaking you on the party bus later, right?”
“Can’t hurt to try.” Olivia laughed. “But seriously get out of here. Robaire’s gonna kill you.”
“Fine, fine, whatever.” Taeyoung backed off. “See ya later.”
Olivia shut the door and glared. “I hope he gets lost on the way back.”
“Uh…Livvy?” Selina interrupted awkwardly. “Can I have the note from my fiancé?”
“Oh right.” Olivia looked around. “Oh my god, I put it in Taeyoung’s pocket so it wouldn’t fly out of my hand.”
“No, no, no it’s fine.” Olivia waved her hands frantically. “I’ll get it back lickety-split, and I won’t even fight him this time.” She rushed out the door.
“Ay, those two.” Selina rolled her eyes. “I don’t have time to be stealing over them today.”
“Mommy, can I have more animal crackers?” Lacey asked.
“No, sweetie, you’ve already had enough.” Selina shook her head. “And I don’t want you getting crumbs all over your pretty dress.”
Lacey whined and kicked her feet. “But I’m still hungry.”
“Lacey, don’t whine.” Selina narrowed her eyes. “I let you snack to your heart’s content before you got dressed, now you have to wait.”
“Selina, c’mon, we’re running a little behind time.” The maid of honor, Lola, warned her.
“Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m almost done.” Selina said as she put pins in Lacey’s hair. “I’ll be darned if my daughter doesn’t look absolutely adorable on my wedding day.”
“Honey, you’re not even dressed yet.” Lola crossed her arms. “Even the other girls are almost done with their makeup.”
“Yeah, well, my baby has to come first.” Selina picked up a toothbrush and dipped it in gel. “She needs them edges laid.”
“Anyone could finish her edges. I’ll even do it if you need me to.” Lola tried to snatch the toothbrush but Selina refused to give it up.
“Two more seconds, it doesn’t take that long.” Selina continued. “Besides, I wanted to be the one to do her hair today. There’s something special about when your mom takes the time to do your hair for you. Not that I would know.” She paused. “There it goes again.”
“Lacey, you’re done.” Lola waved her off. “Go sit with Olivia for now while I help Mommy get ready.”
“Okay, okay, her hair’s taken care of, Daunte and Papi are over at the venue making sure everything’s ready, and Tía Yesenia—”
“She went with them.” Lola stopped her. “You know how my mom is, she doesn’t let Tío do anything for himself.”
“Well, they could probably use all hands on deck over there, so for once he should be grateful.” Selina chuckled. “Now it’s finally my turn so let’s get this dress on. I am so beyond ready to walk down that aisle and marry the love of my life.”
“Hey, buddy.” Jesse sat beside Marcel. “Your Tío’s gonna take you over to your mom and sister. Do you remember what you’re supposed to say to them?”
“Mmhmm.” Marcel nodded. “Wow, you guys look so beautiful.”
“That’s my boy.” Jesse smiled at him proudly. “Make sure to hold onto your sister when you’re walking together. You know she’s gonna try to run down the aisle and leave you behind.”
“I gave her my chicken nuggets last night so she wouldn’t.” Marcel nodded. “She promised she wouldn’t run off without me.”
“Well, she was always one for a bargain. Even as a baby.” Jesse sighed. “Are you excited for Mommy and Daddy to get married?”
Marcel nodded again. “I wanna tell all my friends at school about it.” He looked up at Jesse. “And I heard Mommy say today’s gonna be the bestest day of her life.”
Jesse was quiet for a moment. “Did she really say that?”
“Daddy, are you crying already?”
“No.” Jesse lied. “I have…dust in my eyes.”
“Uncle Robaire told me you were gonna cry.” Marcel laughed and kicked his feet. “He said you’re really sappy like that.”
“Listen, Squishy, there’s no shame in crying. It doesn’t make you any less of a man.” Jesse grabbed Marcel’s shoulders. “It’s especially okay to cry when you love someone so much that the very thought of spending the rest of your life with them fills your heart with so much joy that you just can’t help it.” He started actually crying.
“Awww, it’s okay, Daddy.” Marcel dried his dad’s tears. “Mommy likes to make you cry anyway. At least that’s what I heard her say to Tía Lola.”
Jesse calmed down and blinked a few times. “She what?”
“Hey, Jes, your brother-in-law’s here to take Marcel.” Z came over. “He said he can’t actually come back here because if he does, he might accidentally admit that he doesn’t really hate you.”
“Really? He said that?” Jesse grinned.
“Oh my gosh, are you kidding me? What’s Marcel still doing here?” Robaire came over to shoo him away. “We need him with the rest of the procession, let’s get this show on the road.”
“Don’t look at anyone, just look at me.” Jesse called to him. “You’ll be fine.”
“Great, he’s good, you’re good. We’re all good.” Robaire practically pushed Marcel off. “Okay, now—WHERE ARE THE BOYS?!”
“Oh, they went to the bathroom to fix their hair and stuff.” Z explained. “They got a little carried away with the roughhousing when we were taking pictures.”
“I’m gonna kill them. I’m gonna kill ‘em all.” Robaire stormed off. “Aaron, if you don’t come with me WE WILL HAVE NO GROOMSMEN!”
“Jeez, calm down, Robaire.” Z rolled his eyes as he followed. He turned back to Jesse for a moment and mouthed “Best Man-Zilla”.
Jesse chuckled. He let out a heavy sigh. “I can’t believe it’s finally happening…”
“Believe it, pretty boy. You sure waited long enough.”
Jesse’s eyes widened. “Courtney?” He started to smile. “I thought you said you couldn’t make it.”
“The life of a label director is very busy, as I’m sure you remember, but I’d never miss the chance to see my boys. Especially not on a day like this.” Courtney held out her arms. “But I still get a hug for surprising you, right?”
“Of course.” Jesse rushed to hug her. “Ugh, I’ve missed you so much. We all have.”
“Well duh. I was one hell of a manager.” Courtney laughed. “And I’m a good friend, too. You didn’t actually think I’d miss the wedding of the century, did you? I mean, I’ve been waiting for this almost as long as you have.”
“No you haven’t.” Jesse shook his head, unable to stop smiling. “But I still appreciate you being here.”
“I can’t believe it took you that long to redo Taeyoung’s hair.” Robaire grumbled as they all headed back. “How’d you even—” He stopped in his tracks when he saw Courtney.
“Don’t you dare!” Robaire stopped them. “If we don’t get out there in fifteen seconds we might as well not even have this wedding.”
“Excuse me?” Jesse furrowed his brow.
“Figure of speech, no worries.” Robaire shook his head.
“I see you haven’t changed.” Courtney smirked at him. “How are you two doing?”
“Very very very much in love.” T said as he and Z nuzzled their noses.
“But don’t ask what I think you’re gonna ask.” Z tuned to Courtney. “We’re gonna hear it enough times today.”
“Okay, okay, fine. I’ll be there, too, just so you know.” Courtney winked. “And Taeyoung, how’s Olivia?”
“Why are you asking me?” He looked her up and down. “She’s Z’s sister.”
“And your self-proclaimed right arm.” Courtney crossed her arms. “You’re always a little perkier when you two are out doing mischief together.”
Taeyoung was quiet for a moment. “We fought this morning. So naturally we’re as close as ever.”
“Courtney, I love you so much, but we for real need to get out there.” Robaire got between them. “Daunte just signaled that Selina’s here.”
“Selina’s here?” Jesse blushed.
“You would figure she’d show up to her own wedding.” Sean rolled his eyes as Danny snickered.
“Alright, I’ll catch up with you all at the reception then.” Courtney turned to head out. “Good luck, Jes.”
“Now that we’ve gotten rid of all the distractions,” Robaire glared at everyone, “I think we’re all finally ready.” He dragged Jesse over to the side door of the back room. “Are you ready?”
Jesse smiled at nothing. “I’ve been ready since I first laid eyes on her.” He took a deep breath. “Okay. Let’s do this.”
“Oh, angel.” Carmelo marveled at the sight of his daughter. “You look like a masterpiece.”
“Awww, thanks, Papi.” Selina chuckled.
“And so does my sweet little princess.” Carmelo gave Lacey a big hug. “Lacey, honey, you look precious.”
“Thank you, Abuelo.” Lacey giggled.
“Okay, where’s Marcel?” Selina looked around. “I wanna get started.”
“He’s right here, Daunte just passed him off to me.” Lola brought him over.
Selina gasped. “Oh my goodness, you look like a little prince.” She swooned. “I could give you a million kisses right now but it’s too close to call time to mess up this lipstick.”
“Promise me I’ll get them later.” Marcel pouted. “I missed you.”
“No time.” Daunte cut her off. “They’re out there, we’re starting right now.” He started to head back to cue everyone, but he hesitated. “You look perfect, Selina.” He kissed her forehead.
“Thank you, Daunte.” She smiled at him. “Okay, babies, I need you to link your arms like Mommy showed you the other day.”
Marcel and Lacey had an awkward moment of trying to remember what to do.
“Gosh darn it.” Selina rolled her eyes before leaning over and positioning them herself. “Okay, perfect. They’re perfect, I’m perfect, everything’s perfect.” She took a deep breath. “It’s really happening.”
“Getting nervous, angel?” Carmelo asked.
“Nope. Never.” Selina shook her head. “Nothing has ever felt more natural to me.”
“Good, that makes one of us.” Carmelo chuckled. “My heart’s racing faster than even I thought it would.”
“Papi?” Selina furrowed her brow. “What’re you so nervous about? You like him, right?”
“Sweetheart, I’ve been dreading this day since the moment I first held you in my arms.” Carmelo gently cupped his daughter’s cheek. “I watched you grow into a strong, confident, beautiful woman, and I honestly never thought anyone would be worthy of my little girl. But he’s a good man. I just know he’s going to love you for the rest of his life.”
“Yeah, I know it, too.” Selina nodded. “I love him more than anything. And I need you to stop stalling so I can finally marry him.”
“Ooh, I was hoping you wouldn’t notice.” Carmelo said as they both laughed. “Okay, baby girl. Let’s get you started on the rest of your life.”
They linked their arms together and faced the opening doors, awaiting their turn to walk.
Each bridesmaid walked alone, smiling brightly as she clutched her bouquet. Lacey and Marcel followed, out of sync due to Lacey’s speedy excitement and Marcel’s sluggish nerves. Finally, the crowd turned to watch the blushing bride as she entered. Selina stood in the doorway, arm in arm with her father. She quickly did a once-over of all the guests that were present, but then she locked eyes with Jesse. His eyes twinkled and his smile was lopsided, the way it always was when he was overwhelmed with emotion. She giggled at the sight, trying hard not to let the tears pricking at her eyes fall.
Selina and Carmelo stopped at the end of the aisle.
“Who gives this bride away?” The priest asked.
Carmelo looked at his daughter and pulled her in for a kiss on the cheek. He looked back at the priest. “I do.”
Selina smiled at her father as they unlinked the arms so she could join her almost-husband.
“Hi, beautiful.” Jesse smiled as he and Selina joined hands.
“Hi, my love.” Selina smiled back. “You look like a dream come true.”
“You are my dream come true.” Jesse couldn’t stop staring at her. “I think I just fell in love with you all over again.”
“So Taeyoung, now that you can legally drink, I guess that means you’re no longer part of the Baby Club.” Danny said with a crooked grin. “Guess it’s just me and Olivia now.” He wrapped an arm around her awkwardly.
“Pssh, I’m still somebody’s baby technically.” Taeyoung stared into his Margarita glass. “Besides, it’s not all that fun. This is only my second drink and T already told me he’s gonna cut me off.”
Olivia looked Danny up and down. “Dude, are you okay?” She detangled herself from him. “I can hear your heart racing from here. It’s been four months. Get over it.”
“I can’t just “get over it” like you can.” Danny shot her a glare. “Unlike you, I hardly had an opportunity to get close with the members. Meanwhile my favorite member is your best friend.”
“I mean, I know Robaire went over to Jesse’s house a lot.” Taeyoung shrugged. “But I’m a bad influence on kids in case it wasn’t obvious. I mean, look at her.”
“Oh don’t give yourself so much credit.” Olivia rolled her eyes. “I was already annoying. You just trained me to be a full fledged menace.”
“Don’t act all tough, you twerp.” Taeyoung chuckled as he and Olivia started walking off. “You didn’t even know how to bite people before you met me. You weren’t all that.”
“Shut up. Neither were you.” Olivia shoved him playfully.
Danny sighed as he watched them walk off. “Jeez, why can’t that be me?”
“Feeling jealous, young padawan?” Sean asked with a smirk. “You know, I can take you under my wing and teach you everything there is to know about landing a partner.”
“Oh as if.” Danny rolled his eyes. “It’s a miracle you and Alex got back together. You have absolutely no game whatsoever.”
“I have game!” Sean defended himself. “Remember that time I lost my balance on the bus and conveniently fell into that hot guy’s arms?”
“Oh yeah, I bet he found that so attractive.” Danny shook his head. “How is it that you’re a total loser and you get guys and I have no luck?”
“Oh c’mon, little man, you’re still young.” Sean tousled his brother’s hair. “I mean, Taeyoung’s never gonna notice you so you gotta give that up, but maybe you’ll find someone who’s actually in your league one day.”
Danny stared at him for a second. “I need another Shirley Temple.”
“So?” Elijah approached his brother.
“So what?” Z raised an eyebrow.
“So,” Olivia joined them, “when are you and T getting hitched?”
“Ugh.” Aaron blushed and covered his face. “I need people to stop asking that, it’s getting old.”
“Well, if you just shut up and did it—”
“Elijah, I’m gonna kill you.” Aaron glared. “You’ve literally been asking us since we were teenagers, give it a rest. It’ll happen when it happens.”
“Oh so you have been thinking about it.” Elijah smirked.
“Of course he is.” Olivia nudged him. “They’re beyond domestic now. It’s about time they take the next step.”
“Yeah, if you think the next step is buying a toaster oven.” Aaron rolled his eyes.
“You wouldn’t have to buy it if you just put it on your wedding registry.” Elijah reminded him. “Kumi and I could guide you through the process since we’ve already been down that road.”
“And I’ll pick out my own dress since you’ll inevitably name me your Best Man.” Olivia teased.
“Best Woman. Or lady.” Elijah corrected her. “And you must be joking. It’s obviously going to be me.”
“Shut up, shut up, shut up!” Aaron attempted to drown them out. “Why are you even talking about this?”
“Because I want niblings.” Elijah shrugged. “And I’m not getting them from her anytime soon.”
“Or at all.” Olivia narrowed her eyes. “Personally, I just love a good wedding. Like this one. You need to keep it going so I’m entertained.” She snapped her fingers.
“Hey, hey, Livvy, it’s not about being entertained.” Elijah shook his head. “It’s about Bambi committing himself to the one and only man he loves.”
“You said it was about niblings.” Olivia crossed her arms.
“Yeah well, if they’re not married, where are they gonna get the kids from?” Elijah rolled his eyes.
Aaron and Olivia stared at him.
“You do realize those two little kids hanging around Jesse and Selina are their kids, right?” Aaron asked.
Elijah froze. “Oh. Well that explains a lot. I‘ve been wondering why they look so much like them.”
Aaron and Olivia simultaneously groaned and facepalmed.
“Hey, Aaron.” Elijah slung an arm around his shoulder. “Little ones like that don’t just grow on trees. If you make your move now, you can probably have some of your own pretty soon.” He smiled. “Based on how good you are with Imani and Uriah, I’d say you’re gonna make a pretty good dad.”
Aaron was quiet for a moment. “No. I don’t wanna talk about this anymore.”
“Why?” Olivia asked with a bit of curiosity. “Did you guys not plan on having any kids?”
“No—I mean, yes. I mean,” Aaron groaned, “I don’t know. We haven’t talked about kids. We haven’t even talked about marriage in a while.” He frowned. “How can I be sure he’s not bored of me by now?”
Elijah and Olivia exchanged a look of concern.
“Aaron, I’m sure he’s not bored of you.” Olivia assured him. “Maybe there’s just been too much going on to think about it, what with the disbandment and the wedding and all.”
“And T isn’t the type to string you along when he’s done with you. He’s a better guy than that.” Elijah nodded. “Besides, I know he’s avoiding you right now, but every time he looks in your direction, he gets all flustered and starts blushing. If that’s not a sign of his real feelings for you, I don’t know what is.”
Aaron looked between the two of them. “Do you guys really think so?”
“Yes, of course.” Elijah smiled.
“Plus, you know how sometimes T stops talking about something when he’s made up his mind about it.” Olivia shrugged. “Like how he talked about drinking tea or hot chocolate for ten minutes and then shut up about it. And then he just made the tea. So he probably already knows what he wants to do with you.”
Aaron’s eyes widened and his entire face turned red. “O-Oh my.”
“Hey, T.” Kumi smiled cheerfully. “How’s it going?”
“Oh, hi, Kumi.” T greeted her awkwardly. “I’m—”
“Why are you ignoring my brother-in-law?” She stopped him.
“Yeah, I knew it.” Aaron sighed. “Look, it’s not what you think. My mind’s been running a mile a minute all night and I can’t keep up.”
“So?” Kumi shrugged. “Don’t you think talking to him about whatever it is will help clear your mind?”
“Oh, I can’t talk to him.” Aaron chuckled nervously. “I can’t go anywhere near him. I have no filter, I’ll just blurt it out.”
“Maybe that’s what you need. To just let it out.” Kumi encouraged him.
Aaron shook his head. “Not here. Not now…”
“Why not?” Kumi pressed him. “You’re making the poor kid nervous. It’s a wedding, you should be enjoying it together.”
“How can you enjoy a wedding when all everyone does is put pressure on you to be next?” Aaron crossed his arms. “All we hear is nonstop questions about when we’re getting married, we can’t even be near each other without getting awkward.”
Kumi was quiet for a moment. “Does this mean you don’t actually want to marry him? Is that what’s making you so uncomfortable?”
“No, I—” Aaron blushed and shook his head. “Ugh, this is so embarrassing. I’m uncomfortable because…I can’t think of a good enough reason to tell them not now. At your wedding, we were just kids, at my mom’s wedding, we couldn’t even tolerate the idea because of the band. But now…it just makes sense.”
“Oh my god, really?” Kumi got excited. “You’re finally in the wedding mood?”
“How can I not be?” Aaron groaned. “It’s almost as if love is smacking us both right in the face. We’ve been together for a long time and there aren’t any obstacles in our way anymore. How am I supposed to deny this stupid feeling in the pit of my stomach?” He complained. Then he stared at the newlyweds and their kids. “Especially when I look at them and see how happy they are and can’t decide if I’m excited or jealous.” He shook his head. “I mean, of course I’m excited. Jesse’s my boy, he deserves this. They waited long enough. But then again…I kind of want that to be me.”
Kumi smirked. “Is that why you keep fiddling with something in your pocket?”
“Ugh, you noticed?” Aaron blushed. “It’s not that. I don’t have it on me.”
“But you do have it, right?” Kumi nodded excitedly.
Kumi squealed. “I’m so h—”
“SHHH!” Aaron quickly covered her mouth. “Remember when I said not now? I can’t be that guy. They waited so long for this and I’m not gonna be the one to undermine them.”
“Right, you’re right, I’m sorry.” Kumi (somewhat) composed herself. “But you are gonna do it soon right? Maybe tomorrow? The day after?”
“KUMI!” Aaron whined. “I can’t—”
“Hey, Aaron.” Taeyoung interrupted. “What’re you whining about now?”
“Kumi’s trying to get me to propose to—” Aaron’s eyes widened. “Uh oh.”
Taeyoung stared at him for a moment, his eyes filling with tears. “NOOOO!”
“Oh god. Not this again.” Aaron groaned. “Sorry, Kumi. I need to talk some sense into my cat.”
Robaire had his eye on one of the bridesmaids all night. He knew that one couldn’t make it to the rehearsal the other night, but he had no idea she’d be so attractive.
“Hey, man.” Jesse came over to him. “I need you to do me a huge favor and stop staring at Monique like a creep. You’re weirding me out.”
“I’m sorry, I just…I’ve never seen her before.” Robaire kept his eyes fixed on her. “She’s so pretty…”
“Then go talk to her.” Jesse rolled his eyes. “If things go well, you get her number. If they don’t, you’ll probably never see her again anyway.”
“I don’t wanna be that guy.” Robaire groaned. “I’m not one of those slimy groomsmen that just hits on a bridesmaid to get in her pants but I’m worried I might come off that way.” He started whining. “I miss when girls would come up to me and start flirting. Why do I gotta do all the work now?”
Jesse stared at him for a second. “Wow, you’re lame.” He shook his head. “Listen, staring from across the room never got anyone anywhere. You think if I just stared at Selina during pep rallies we’d be here today?”
“No, she would’ve never figured out I existed. I would be a lonely, loveless, kidless loser today.” Jesse stopped him. “Just go talk to her. She’ll probably think it’s cute when you start stuttering.”
Robaire scoffed. “I don’t stutter. Stuttering is for losers.”
“OH FOR THE LOVE OF—” Robaire handed Jesse his Sangria. “Hold this. I’m going to prove I’m not lame or a loser. Watch me.” He stormed off.
Jesse looked at the Sangria. “Eh. He probably won’t be back for this.” He said before drinking the last of it.
Robaire walked up to Monique full of confidence right up until she actually noticed him. “H-Hi.”
“Hi.” Monique smiled. “You’re Jesse’s Best Man, right?”
Robaire nodded, too flabbergasted to speak for a moment.“H-He’s…um. He’s an old friend of mine.”
Monique laughed. “Yeah, I know. I’ve been a fan of 4☆TOWN since you guys debuted.” She blushed a bit. “You’re actually my favorite member.”
“Really?” Robaire perked up a bit. “I mean,” he cleared his throat, “that’s cool.”
“I must say though, you’re even cuter in person.” Monique looked him up and down. “So obviously I’ve seen you dance before, but never up close.” She stepped closer. “Wanna change that?”
“Yes, please.” Robaire answered a little too quickly. “I-I meant, yeah. I’d like that a lot.”
“Great,” Monique started pulling him towards the dance floor, “cuz this song’s always more fun with a dance partner.”
“Oh my god, don’t you just love Whitney Houston?” Robaire’s eyes got wide with excitement.
“Who doesn’t?” Monique looked back at him. “There’s no one like Whitney.”
Robaire started giggling like a fool. “This just might be the best day of my life.”
“Alright, kid, you’ve only got one shot at this, but I know you can do it.” Taeyoung said as he rubbed Olivia’s shoulders. “You’ve got a better tackling technique than any of the ladies out there, and I’ve seen you jump higher than any normal teenage girl should.” He looked down at her shoes. “You didn’t bring flats?”
“I was half asleep when I came here this morning.” Olivia defended herself. “I forgot to slip them in my bag.”
“Alright. It’s fine.” Taeyoung shook his head. “Even if you miss and fall, I’ll still be proud that you tried.”
“What’re you preparing her for a boxing match?” Z looked at them in confusion. “It’s just a bouquet toss.”
“Maybe to you it is.” Olivia glared at her brother. “To us, it’s a test of my worth. I’ve been training for eight long years.”
“And you’ve come a long way from that little twerp that came into my house all those years ago.” Taeyoung assured her. “I just know you can beat them. I believe in you, Squirt.”
“Got this in the bag.” Olivia smirked before heading to the dance floor.
“Awwww, you two are so cute when you’re plotting against people.” T sighed. “It reminds me of that time you were conspiring to start a pillow fight behind our backs and then jumped us when we least expected it.”
Z narrowed his eyes. “Would you like to explain what you found cute about that?”
“Oh c’mon, you can’t tell me it’s not adorable when they get all beady-eyed.” T crossed his arms. “They’re like little lion cubs ready to pounce.”
“Speaking of pouncing,” Taeyoung nudged T, “check out Olivia. She’s about to use a maneuver I taught her to secure the bouquet.” He started to cackle.
When Selina tossed her bouquet, Olivia practically sprinted and leapt over everyone to catch it, elbowing one person and kicking another in the process.
“MUAHAHAHAHA!” Olivia laughed like a crazy person. “I KNEW I COULD DO IT!”
“YES!” Taeyoung cheered. “That’s my girl!”
“Oh my god.” Z’s jaw dropped. “That’s the scariest I’ve ever seen her. And that’s saying a lot.”
“You know, I didn’t think she’d stick the l—GAH!” T yelled when Taeyoung bit his arm. “What was that for?”
“A celebratory bite with my favorite person.” Taeyoung said with his most charming smile. “Just so when I go cheer for Olivia, you know you’re still my number one.” He ran off to congratulate her.
“Still think it’s cute?” Z smirked.
“Of course I do. They’re bites of love.” T grumbled, wincing in pain. “Oh my god, it’s like he grew fangs or something.”
“Oh my gosh, Tae-Tae, I did it!” Olivia yelled excitedly as Taeyoung spun her around in a hug. “So are you going for the garter?” She asked as he set her down.
“Oh, honey, I’m not gonna wanna touch that thing after what Jesse’s about to do to it.” Taeyoung laughed condescendingly. “Actually now that I think about it, do you wanna take a long walk and not come back till it’s over?”
“Why?” Olivia chuckled. “How bad could it—” She was cut off by loud, sexy music playing.
They both turned and saw Jesse seductively strolling onto the dance floor where his literally blushing bride sat giddily.
“Yeah, let’s get out of here.” Olivia quickly grabbed Taeyoung’s hand and they rushed away.
Marcel tugged on his dad’s sleeve.
“What is it, buddy?” Jesse looked down at him.
Marcel gestured for him to come closer, and when he did, he whispered in his ear.
“Oh.” Jesse’s eyes widened. “We’ll use the one in the couple’s suite. C’mon.” He picked up Marcel and started off.
“Hey, where’re you taking the little man?” T asked.
“He needs to use the bathroom.” Jesse answered. “No big deal, we’ll be back in a little bit.”
“No, pass him over.” Robaire offered. “It’s your wedding day, you should be with your wife.”
“You don’t even know where the suite is.” Jesse rolled his eyes. “It’s fine.”
“Oh c’mon let us help.” Z appeared. “We can take a kid to the bathroom.”
“He really doesn’t like it when too many people are around him.” Jesse started walking faster. “Sometimes he even kicks me out.”
“I know how that is.” Taeyoung nodded. “I make Olivia take a walk every time I have to use the bathroom. I don’t like going with her in the house.”
“Where are you all coming from?” Jesse looked around. “What the—”
“Daddy, I really really need to go.” Marcel interrupted.
Jesse sighed. “You’re not gonna leave me alone, are you?” The boys shook their heads. “Fine.” He started sprinting down the hall.
“GET BACK HERE!” T screamed as they chased after him. “WE’RE JUST TRYING TO HELP!”
“You know, this reminds me of our early days in the studio.” Jesse remarked with a grin. “Back when we were just kids who didn’t know what they were doing. Up against the world and one sleazy manager.”
“Yeah, I almost miss those days.” T nodded. “Whatever happened to Beckett? Courtney just said he wasn’t coming back.”
“Oh, he insulted Selina so I gave him a black eye.” Jesse said casually.
“YOU WHAT?” Taeyoung screamed. “And I missed it?!”
“Jeez, Tae. What a reaction to hearing about someone getting punched.” Robaire chuckled.
“Well, he deserved it. That guy was a major jerk.” Z agreed. “I’m glad it was you who took him out, Jes. He became a real dick to you especially after that whole thing in the hospital.”
“Oh god, you guys have no idea how much I had to hold back.” Jesse shook his head. “It took everything in me not to beat his ass before then.”
“I’m kinda glad it happened like that though.” T admitted. “With an asshole like that on our case all the time, we were more determined to stick together. I mean, look how close we are eight years later.”
“Don’t forget he’s the reason we had to hide our relationship for so long.” Z grabbed his hand. “Not to mention all the other crap he pulled on us.”
“Yeah, but I get what he means.” Taeyoung nodded. “It’s easier to bond with a brother stealer, a kiss up, and some old guy when you have a common enemy. I could’ve hated most of you.”
“Oh, Taeyoung, you were never gonna—” Jesse paused. “Did you just call me “some old guy”?”
“Well, you were 20 and you had a girlfriend and a kid.” Taeyoung shrugged. “I was still in middle school.”
Everyone got quiet as they stared at him.
“Wow.” Robaire said in shock. “Were you really that young?”
“Don’t you remember my eighth grade graduation?” Taeyoung started to laugh. “You were all there. My mom took us to get mandu afterwards.”
“Now I remember.” Z nodded. “Those were some wild dumplings. Although I have yet to meet a dumpling I didn’t love.”
“Yeah, but the one’s your brother makes are still the best.” T chuckled.
“Oh my god, I haven’t had those in years.” Jesse’s eyes got wide. “I have to track him down before he leaves. I gotta get some more before we go on our honeymoon.”
“I almost forgot about that part.” Robaire said. “Where are you going?”
“Jamaica. She’s always wanted to go.” Jesse shrugged. “We’re gonna be gone for ten whole days, but it’s gonna be the longest time we’re both away from the kids.” He started to smile. “I can’t tell if I’m sad or…excited.”
“Ah yes, alone time is very important in a relationship.” T said, wrapping an arm around his boyfriend. “No kids, no obnoxious younger siblings, no—” He was cut off by Taeyoung hitting him with a pillow. “Okay, I’m kidding, I’m kidding. A little…”
“Actually, when do you guys think you’re gonna tie the knot?” Robaire asked with a somewhat mischievous grin. “You’ve been together long enough, don’t you think?”
T and Z blushed. “Uhhhhh…—”
“Oh, you’ll love married life.” Jesse nodded excitedly. “I know I’ve only technically been married for less than a day, but just hearing people call Selina my wife makes me ecstatic. It drives me even crazier when she calls me her husband.” He sighed. “Ugh, I love her so much. I need this party to be over so we can go back to the hotel.”
They all looked at him in disgust.
“Dude…” Taeyoung rolled his eyes. “I know I’m 21 now but I’m still a baby. Damn.”
Just then, the suite door opened.
“Boys, the Viennese hour is about to start if you wanna—”
Everyone except Jesse immediately jumped up and climbed over each other to rush out.
“And I thought we were having a nice conversation.” Jesse shook his head.
Selina giggled and sat beside him, placing Lacey in her lap. “You know nothing beats a table full of sweets.”
“Yeah, but I’ve got the sweetest dessert right here.” Jesse smiled as he grabbed his daughter and started kissing her cheeks. “I just can’t get over how adorable you look.”
“Daddy, stop it.” Lacey tried pushing him away as she giggled.
“I’m gonna miss this when we go on our honeymoon.” Selina smiled at them. “I love these little moments, but I really need time alone with my husband.”
“Mmm, I love it when you call me that.” Jesse hummed before leaning in to kiss her.
“Noooo.” Lacey whined. “He’s my Daddy.”
“Who do you think had him first, chick?” Selina smirked.
“Oh leave her alone. She—” Jesse paused. “Speaking of first, did Marcel fall in the toilet or what?”
Selina sighed. “I’ll go get him.”
“So,” Jesse started walking his fingers up his wife’s arm, “do you wanna get out of here?”
Selina laughed. “You’re funny. The hell I went through to get here and you think you can just take me to bed cuz you’re cute.” She shook her head. “Not a chance. I’m enjoying every last second of this wedding cuz I deserve to.”
“Yeah you do.” Jesse stared at her with a soft smile. “I know you’ve been not-so secretly planning our wedding for years. I hope it’s everything you dreamed of.”
“Everything and more.” Selina nodded. “Honestly the little details hardly mattered. The only important part was that I got to marry you.”
“Awww, babe, that’s so sweet.” Jesse sighed. “I guess that means you don’t remember making me draw the cake design five times cuz you kept changing your mind.”
“LISTEN,” Selina blushed a bit, “that was before I woke up this morning and realized that the only thing I cared about was that the next time we saw each other, we’d be husband and wife.”
“My god, I love those words.” Jesse grabbed her hips and pulled her closer. “I can hardly believe I’m lucky enough to finally call you my wife.”
“Yeah well, you had me hooked the first time you ever spoke to me.” Selina beamed. “Although I never would’ve guessed an art geek would be such a great kisser.”
“Surprise, surprise. Cute art geeks can actually rock your world.” Jesse laughed. “I still remember our first kiss like it was yesterday. We were at that roller rink by your house right at the start of summer vacation.”
Selina giggled. “And you were so terrified that your braces would snag on me that you tried to get your straw stuck on purpose so I wouldn’t wanna kiss you anymore.”
“Ugh, that’s the one part I wanna forget.” Jesse groaned as his face turned red. “I was really just thinking about how it made me feel.”
“Oh?” Selina smirked. “And how exactly did you feel?”
“Alive in every way.” Jesse pulled her closer. “Butterflies erupted in my stomach, my heart was practically beating out of my chest. It was like time froze and no one else existed but us. It was perfect.” He leaned in and kissed her. “Eleven years and countless kisses later and you still make me feel that way.”
“Every time I think you can’t get any more romantic, you prove me wrong.” Selina smiled. “Before we met, I had no idea it was possible to be this in love with someone, but you were so worth every second of waiting.”
“And I’d do it all over again knowing it leads here.” Jesse smiled before kissing her again, deeper and longer this time. “I love you, Selina.”
“I love you, too, Jesse.” Selina looked at him with hearts in her eyes. “I wish tonight never had to end.”
“Yeah, me too.” Jesse agreed quietly. “But we still have one more song before it’s over.”
Just then, the absolute best Michael Jackson song hands down began to play. Selina gasped.
“Oh my god, this is the song that was playing at the roller rink during our first kiss.” She got excited. “Did you plan this?”
Jesse shrugged. “I just thought it’d be fitting to end our day with the song that sealed the deal.” He offered her a hand. “Would you like to dance, Mrs. O’Neill?”
Selina laughed and took his hand. “With you, my love? Always.”
