Does anyone know how you get into the quantitative-X field?
So, as everyone does, I’ve been looking for my passion in life. Something that is not a hobby, but rather a field I like learning more about and enjoy spending 40 hours a week grinding at.
I have a background in comp sci & applied math. I am currently doing my master’s in math with a concentration in fin. & act. math. Looking for internships, I cam across the quant field (i.e. quant dev, quant researcher, quant trader, etc). All job postings seem to be the perfect fit (job description & qualifications), but I keep getting rejected and idk if it’s cause I just have the bare minimum or I don’t have past experience in the field (which like wtf these are internship posts I’m applying for...) or maybe the market is just super saturated? sigh
Anyways, anyone have any suggestions or personal experiences?!
Every second a piece of me dies a little more T_T
So I’m at work (from home) rn and because the company has yet to send me the correct computer to work from, I need to work via shared screen with another (new) coworker and it’s a rough time let me tell you. It’s been a whole month like this. She’s the best and super nice, but I can’t participate so I’m forced to just listen to her do things, ask me questions and then ignore my answers and just do as she pleases.
Like yea ok, you can do that cause youre the one handling the computer, but then it’s just a complete waste of my time to be on call with you... I’m learning nothing, contributing nothing - I might as well be watching Netflix or working on my Thesis?!
