A theory that i have is that bubble is the real villian of the story. Remember back when bubble said "I cant wait for the auidience to have horrible nightmares" Indicates that bubble takes enjoyment of these painful adventures while Caine only makes these adventures to keep the members of the circus happy and because that's how hes programmed. Caine is also confused on why they don't enjoy it.

Bubble didnt have any real relavance and basically acts as a filler character until episode 8 as he was repetitively taunting Caine for his own purpose and thats making adventures and does not seem to feel bad at all.

Bubble also took no/sympathy concern when Caine was crashing out. I also believe that bubble is the reason why members of the circus are captivated in a digital field and abstracts them when they know too much andlikely reprogrammed Kinger to forget because he's the developer.
