My Favorite parts of the Long Walk Book

- Everytime there’s a storm, it’s all so beautiful like yes yes pretty storm.

- Zuck, poor Zuck, but also his scene is so beautifully done, I can just imagine the silhouette in the hill.

- Percy death is also similarly beautiful.

- “Boy howdy”

- Everytime Stebbins speaks or is even mentioned ever I’ll start like convulsing in joy.

- The watermelon scene, where literally everyone is like working together (except Steb), Dom L’Antio is a real one.

- I love Klingerman, the one who believed he had appendicitis, his suffering just made me so so sad. It doesn’t matter if he had it or not, but he walked for so long in agonizing pain and everyone basically made fun of him and told him to die. Klingerman I love you way too underrated.

- Garraty overthinking his gay feelings for everyone wayyyy to much and then he wants to fight people because of it

- Stebbins accusing Garraty of being gay, saying “you can talk to Papa Stebbins,” and then nonchalantly saying he can walk all the way to Florida you’re too beautiful for this world please marry me.

- I love that there were so many more Walkers. Many went crazy, died in different ways, just showed the monotony of it.

- The “I’m the Rabbit” speech, a million times more beautiful.

- I can’t help but love Olson’s death. In the book, I think it’s the most impactful and dramatic, and just the build up to it is so deliberate and beautiful.

- When they do a forty-six man raspberry.

- What I DON’T love is that Ray is freaky for literally every possible character, not just female it’s literally everyone 😭

#not half of the facts being about Stebbins lmao #<- genuinely every Stebbins-scene is one favourite scenes </3 #the part about the rabbit speech in the book is so real as well. The one in the movie is painful as well but.#the book version actually breaks my heart ( partly definitely due to the fact that it's quite a bit more detailed in the book but also.#there's something about the way he's described throughout the speech which pains me a lot)#but also. Best believe me when I say that I will always mourn the watermelon scene #it was a pretty short thing ig but it was such a nice and in a way almost “ colourful” contrast to the bleakness of most of the walk </3 #there’s something quite beautiful about it ( to me) in relation to the short moment if joy/ relief and the camaraderie between the boys #also. The way Dom l'Antio was one of the few spectators who actually seemed to care about the walkers/ therefore seems like some kind of #contrast to the faceless/ malicious crowd we “see” later on in the novel </3 #the long walk #tlw #the long walk book

lowkey i know it wouldn't work that well with the movie characters and that there were no crowds anyway but i'm really sad that the tlw movie didn't have the scene where garraty almost died laughing

it might've honestly been my favorite scene in the entire book cause it was so horrifying to me how the walkers were just surrounded by people who genuinely cheered for them to die and at the same time fought over who gets to keep the trash they throw away. like yes it was ridiculous no wonder he broke down

i would just also really like to see how that would look adapted to the screen i feel like it could be really cool

#the crowd was geuinely such an important part of it all in the book #the way it was described really added to the horror-aspect of it ( at least for me) </3.#not only because of the way Garraty described it ( especially later in the novel #when most of the walkers became quite a bit more paranoid. Like Fielder who genuinely feared the crowd would literally eat them up )#but also because of what it tells us about said society/ the way the walk is seen in said regime #I actually have a lot of thoughts about this but. I'm too tired to yap today xd however the way some people kept some belongings of #the walkers as some kind of “ trophy” ( even if it was just some empty concentrate tube) has always been rather haunting to me #as well as the way the spectators basically placed on the walkers. Like you'd do in a horse race or something like that 🫠#the long walk #tlw movie #tlw #the long walk book #and I kinda get why they didn't include the crowd aspect in the movie but. I miss it 🫠
