We have a lot of fun and help each other out all the time. We have a FC house and are in process of setting up events.

“Your home is much larger than it appears from the outside.”

“Ah, well the art of deception is immensely important when one is hiding in plain sight. My friend, I don’t imagine you came here this evening to discuss my home though.” 

Vendeen’s companions had not left, yet. The meal was over and a discussion had begun within the hangar for the ship that was being built. When I’d walked in I overheard Vendeen telling her friends that she felt she was making progress and expected a change very soon.

I did not wish to disappoint.

“You are correct, Vendeen. Although your meals are very impressive and your home more so, I didn’t come to offer compliments. I’ve been thinking a great deal on our conversations. I’ve had the opportunity to visit areas I’ve not been to in many moons. This decision did not come easy nor is it a decision to be taken lightly. I’ve decided to join you and your companions.” I heard an intake of breath from more than one individual in the room. 

I looked around at the faces before me and realized these would be those I would come to depend on to keep me safe, and I the same for them. I did not know all their names yet, nor did I know anything about them aside from the fact they all work together. It is time I change that. I should not accept the word of my friend that these are to be trusted. I would not get much rest this night. Tonight, I will follow my instinct and learn about whom I’m now teaming up with.

“I think that you will find your decision to be a sound one, Siuan. You do not know these friends of mine, though I doubt it will take you long to remedy that.” I looked back at my friend sharply and saw a twinkle in her eye. I tend to forget how well she knows me. With a slight nod of my head, I turn to walk out  of the hangar.

“Do you mind if I retire to the kitchens and help myself to what smells to be some appetizing foods?” 

“Of course. Help yourself. Also, your rooms have been cleaned, though I suspect you will be making most use of the library. Please, my friend. Make yourself at home.”

I’ve borrowed a chocobo and a disguise, and I’ve traveled the countryside. I find myself overlooking a beach and am in awe over the beauty of it. I hurts my soul that the possibility of this all being destroyed is real.

I know in my heart what I must do. I look to the sun to determine how much longer until Vendeen will be entertaining for her evening meal. I’d made some mumbles about trying to be back in time. I hope this chocobo can fly. I’ve decided that I will share my revelations with Vendeen tonight.

My dreams fill me with terrors. I remember the death of my friend all too clearly.

When I awake, I am covered in sweat and there are tears rolling down my cheeks. I try to collect myself and walk to the washroom within my rooms to wipe my face. I must have yelled out because Vendeen is at my door.

“Are you well, Siuan?” I answer that I am fine.

“I heard shouting, are you sure? Shall I send for a medic?” I assure my friend through the door that I am fine and tell her I just had an unsettling dream. I encourage her to return to her rest and that I will do the same.

“If you are sure. There is milk in the kitchens if you need to warm some up. I will talk with you in the morn.” It’s just like Vendeen to offer warm milk. She cares so much for my well-being and I give her nothing but worries.

I sit and return to thoughts of my dream. Hraesvelgr was more than just a great wyrm. He was a good friend to me. We understood each other. Story’s say he survived that terrible night. I do not believe the stories. One would say that I should join arms with my friends so that I may find out the truth of it.

Everything is pointing me towards the choice I’ve been avoiding.

“There will come a time where you will need to put the needle and thread away, and hang your ax up, my dear friend. One may not sit idly by watching everything happen and take no ownership or responsibility. At some point, your conscience will take over.” Vendeen does not mince words.

I’ve been wondering the halls of their home and found a chamber where another was working on a ship to be sent out collecting rare items.

“I am happy collecting and creating. The last I killed, I’ve yet to forgive myself.” The memory of the death stayed with me. So many died on that field. I was not ready to set it to rest.

“My dear Siuan, you are welcome to stay here as long as you like. However I encourage you to heed my warning. Though I won’t push you to walk beside us in our journey, you won’t find others to be as....willing to allow such complacency.”

My time to be uninvolved is being threatened. I need to realign myself.

I nod ever so slightly and stand to leave. “Siuan. Understand that I don’t speak these words to cause you pain. Quite the opposite. If you continue to ignore what is happening around you, I fear that we will lose you altogether.” I looked to my friend and saw the concern in her eyes.

“I’ll think on it. I believe I will go wander the area tonight to observe the activity.” I caught the eye of the Roegadyn woman that was working on the ship as I walked past. There was a hint of a knowing smile upon her face. She knows as well as I, that Vendeen speak the truth and it’s only a matter of time before I have to make some decisions.

I am Siuan Sanche. I’ve world hopped from another place far from here. I now sit within Eorzea hoping for the opportunity to learn. 

Learn about this world.

Learn about why I am here.

Learn how I may get back to where I came from.

Learn.

Knowledge. So much may be discovered within the walls of my friend’s library. 

Am I willing to risk others lives so that I may greedily feed upon the words of others? There is too much at risk. 

Vendeen offers me safety, safe harbor and safe passage.

If I am willing to join her in her quests.

The knowledge I carry already could break worlds.

The smell of musty paper, glue, and dust filled the air. I slowly made my way through the stacks of books, and ran my fingers over the spines.

“I will only grant you regular entry to this library Siuan, if you agree to assist my mates and I in hunts.” I hadn’t lifted my knuckles to another in many turns of the moon. I turned to my little companion. She watched me mull over the decision.

“Vendeen, I’ve made too many compromises in the past. I do not know that I’m willing to go that path.” I gazed upon the limitless knowledge standing before me, stacked to the ceiling in some cases.

Sighing, I lowered myself to the couch as Vendeen made herself comfortable upon the lower cushion. I rested my chin in my hands. “Though the price of exposing myself to the wealth of knowledge hidden upon these tomes may be worth my losing face. You know I made promises? Not only to myself, Vendeen. But to others. Will you allow me time to meditate upon your proposal?”

Vendeen, though a LaLaFell and not always known for their ability to ponder through situations, Vendeen was and is a very dear friend to me. She knows me well and understands I will not be hasty. With a slight nod of her head, I was granted time to consider my choices and decision.

Standing, I looked to Vendeen “May I retire to a room?” 

“Of course. I would ask that you join my companions and I later in breaking our fast.” Nodding, I followed her out of the library with a look over my shoulder. Am I willing to risk my integrity over finding out the truth?
