this is amazing art! The colors are so pretty, and the designs are super cool too! I love the purple one!

If I had to give it a rating, i'd probably say a 9/10, not because anything is bad, but because I like to think that with skills like drawing and artistry, there's always room for improvement!

So umm.. i have some thoughts on the Lycanwing legends from HTTYD

this is just me being a nerd but like the Lycanwing bite had to have started somewhere, right? the first Lycanwing didn't just POOF exist. What if that bite, the ability to turn a human into a Lycanwing, what if that's some kind of genetic mutation in dragons? like normal dragons with that genetic trait have the ability to turn humans into Lycanwings.

Also can i just say how much of a missed opportunity the Lycanwing legends are? The fact that they decided to make it just a myth honestly disappoints me, that could have been such a cool part of the HTTYD world

Here’s a few of my headcanons:

The first Lycanwing, Kessler (as we’re told by Gobber), was cursed by the god Loki for his mischeviousness and turned into a dragon. The first time he bit a person was when he realized he had the power to turn humans into half-dragons.

Lycanwings do not have fire breath like dragons do. Rather, they have powers that are specific to their type of dragon they turn into. (Ex. Skrill Lycanwings control lightning, Monstrous Nightmares can set themselves on fire, Bewilderbeasts can freeze things, Light Furies can turn invisible at will, etc)

All Lycanwings can fly, as it is necessary for their survival in the wild, but only at nighttime when they have the most cover to travel safely and the moon is out.

Lycanwings fluctuate between walking upright and walking on all fours; bipedal walking is for moving normally, and quadrapedal walking is reserved for running and climbing.

On the first full moon after a person is bitten, they become a Lycanwing and are stuck that way for the rest of their lives. And Lycanwings have very long lives.

Young people who turn into Lycanwings don’t often make it to adulthood. Either they’re discovered by a friend or their parents and are hunted down and killed, or they have to run away and find an adult Lycanwing or dragon who will care for them.

Lycanwings will often form packs or family units if they come across other Lycanwings. A pack is the best thing a newly-turned Lycanwing can hope for.

Lycanwings can speak human and dragon. This helps when communicating with humans who are expected to turn, especially if the Lycanwing in question is directly responsible.

Lycanwings can only turn people if their saliva comes in contact with an open wound. Biting is the most common method of turning someone, and the bite must draw blood for it to be effective.

Don’t mind me, I just like making up scientific-ish lore about magical creatures. And stories about interspecies found families.

Lycanwings, no matter what species of dragon they resemble, can mate and produce offspring. This is a common occurance in packs, and will maybe happen if a pair of Lycanwings find each other and decide to live together to better their survival.

Lycanwings have the exact emotions and thought processing as humans, so they can fall in love with other Lycanwings or even humans if circumstance allows it.

Because dragons have the sex-changing ability of some fish, reptiles, and amphibians, one of a homosexual pair of male or female Lycanwings will change their sex so that they and their partner can reproduce.

Lycanwing babies come out as a mix of their parents, depending on what species of dragon they look like. Babies are about the same size as human babies.

Gestation period is about six months, so babies grow a bit quicker in the womb than humans.

Young Lycanwing offsprings are raised to speak human and dragon, and remain on all fours from when they begin to crawl to when they’re about six or seven years old, which is when they learn to walk upright.

Lycanwings communicate with each other from far away using loud, piercing howls at night, similar to wolves. Other sounds they make are growls, hissing, or even roars.

When threatened, Lycanwings will arch their backs and bare their teeth like a cat, or stand to their full height and spread their wings to loom over their attacker and scare them off.

Captive Lycanwings are often sold off on the black market as pets or showed off like animals at a zoo. In some cases, they’ll even be put in fighting rings to fight dragons or other Lycanwings.
