I’ve been feeling like shit recently so I haven’t had the motivation to continue with the training. After 2 weeks of sulking and I’m ready to snap out of it. I should continue.

So today (Day 23, 30-Jan), I’m continuing my training. I only have 6 weeks of training left. I have the make the most of it. I got myself a gym membership and later I’m going to benchmark my 10km on the road.

I do hope it’s not that bad.

It’s Day 1, we’re not going to try for something superhuman. Before this, I can’t even remember the last time I ran. Probably the last AWUM.

Anyway, I ran from Med Cafe to Abellana at an easy pace, then did a few sprint-walk around the oval, then joined a dragon boat team as they did their body-weight exercises.

My Last AWUM? Maybe.

I’m running the All Women’s Ultra-marathon (AWUM) again this year. It would be my 5th in a row. Granted, last year officially did not count since I finished way beyond the cut off and was not listed as an official finisher but I did finish (albeit an hour and 15 minutes beyond the cut off).

I have a feeling this will be my last AWUM. (Or at least, I can’t imagine training again for next year’s.) Honestly, I haven’t been feeling the same joy in running as I did before. I’ve contemplated giving up my slot this year but 5 is a good round number to finish this streak so I’m hitting the road one more time.

As a form of accountability, and to document my training for my future self’s reference (should we ever decide to start up this side of crazy again), I’m starting this blog.

I post my actual training program here. This year, I won’t put any effort in writing a rigid training program that I would not even follow. We’ll just set broad weekly goals.

Run at least 5 times.

Speed drills at least once.

Interval training (HIIT, body weight, what-have-yous) at least once.

Long run once.

Planking exercise daily.

Apart from #5, this is how it naturally happened in the previous years’ training anyway, so I know I can follow it. More or less. I have no discipline, really. (But who am I kidding, last year I did zero training!)

Yesterday was Day 1. Let’s go.
