The point is that ‘white people’ are not the only ones with dark histories.
Indigenous people butchered one another for centuries.
Aztecs and Mayans performed human sacrifice
Arabs enslaved, conquered and colonized massive swaths of Europe
China was in a violent state of genocide against rebellious factions for centuries
The Zulus conquered and colonized all over South Africa
Romans conquered practically everything they could
Greeks had entire castes of slaves
The Persians had a massive empire built on enslavement and conquest
West African tribes sold their conquored enemies to Europeans to be slaves in North America
Everyone has corpses under the floorboards, everyone has imperialist backgrounds. Because that was how the world worked for thousands of years.
It was, in fact, “white people” (because ‘white’ people are somehow a monolith) ended this practice and enforced anti-slavery across the world. Nobody credits them for that. You can’t even say “well, it was the right thing to do so they don’t deserve praise for that” because there were cultures that CONTINUED to practice and continue to today.
The ultimate irony is that the only real reason people get to claim to be a surviving ethnic group is because, unlike the wars fought by indigenous people, Arabs or several dynasties of China, their ancestors weren’t wiped out to the last man, woman and child. Because in nearly every other time period, in most any other nation, these ancestors would’ve been ethnically cleansed to the point where they no longer exist today.
We don’t even know these cultures because they were eradicated THAT thoroughly by other empires. There are no monuments to them, no history, no culture, no anything because they were destroyed that completely.
That was what the world was like for millennia.
