The idea of Grace meeting Simon and going “markiplier?!” Is funny but what’s also funny is if the video logs have Simon in and they post the videos for everyone to see the hero that is dr ryland Grace only to see markiplier there and markiplier having to make a video saying “that is not me up in space. This is not green screen. You would know if I was the one in space because I have famously said I would love to be in space!”

And his fans (I would do this) would say “yeah that’s what a man who’s been secretly sent to space would want us to think.”

It’s a little weird that Grace just assumed meeting Rocky was first contact for both humans and Eridians but I guess it kinda makes sense and is semi plot necessary. but there’s a way funnier version where Grace is like the tenth alien race Rocky has seen. He has no idea humans have never met other sentient aliens & is like “oh yeah the ♫⋆｡♪ ₊˚♬s from the ₊˚♬ system should be here soon too yeah they also have a petrova line” and Grace is like “wait hold on what? who??” & Rocky’s like “??? the ♫⋆｡♪ ₊˚♬s?? they won space hurling at last year’s interstellar olympics??” and Grace goes “LAST YEAR’S WHAT???”

Do you guys think once eridians learn what humans look like grace essentially becomes their blueprint for like. Their equivalent of little green men with big black eyes. Like he becomes the stereotypical "alien" form. And like. They make little toys that look like him. There's kids with alien themed birthday parties where the erid-equivalent of balloons are like a shitty shape of grace. Every human in every eridian scifi novel wears glasses because they just assumed they all have those. Like. I love grace as a beloved teacher and scientist and savior of worlds with his face on statues and monuments but like. What if his face was on shitty tourist traps too.

"I'm not qualified" — buddy, you have scientific background and the resourcefulness of someone who is used to having zero budget. I love this specific part of the plot that is "let's take the guy who can problem-solve things with zero money and give him unlimited budget and see what happens".
