This is an event intended to celebrate Superboy's 90s origins, and the character as he existed prior to the Teen Titans (2003) retcon (aka the one that introduced Lex Luthor as part of his backstory)! For more information, check out our guidelines.

90s Superboy Week will run from April 12 - 18th, 2026, in celebration of the anniversary of the release of Adventures Of Superman #500, Kon's debut in comics! The prompts are as follows:

@90skonweek Day 4: Growth

Kon does a LOT of growing in that og run. Almost all of it forced onto him; dating people so much older than him, superman not really wanting to interact with him too much (for valid reasons but still, clark that's a CHILD) being manipulated by Rex Leech from the second he's out of the tube, being abused and pressured by Knockout into criminal activity (or at least, accessory to it), cadmus' staff being overhauled and thus Kon moving back in to keep an eye on the facility, and being made to watch Clark's home videos about the original Kon so he knows the REAL weight of his birth (Clark loves to traumatise his kin so they can traumabond LMAO)-- well. There's a whole lot more that happens to him and forces him to grow out of his "naivety" and other sixteen-born-yesterday traits, but if I added all of it, this post would be too long (haha).

So I think Kon can "grow" in his own way. Growing himself, his skills, hobbies and interests. Like he should keep hanging out with Kyle so they can draw together (lives in my mind rent free) or maybe even growing a garden. He can grow it with Serling, even, they can do gardening as a little project with no adult influences and they can decide entirely what they'd like to do with it. I think that'd be nice. Kon especially would like to see something he makes grow, I think. Everyone's always angry at the way his TTK destroys things. He doesn't want to hurt anyone. Just teach him how to repave a road with his TTK guys, geez... he's a KID. So he's going to grow some plants here. For me. And superblond agenda moment he can grow veg/herbs/fruits for bernard to cook with..... cute.....

@90skonweek Day 3 "Teams"

I ended up suddenly swamped this week so I'm gonna SPEEDRUN the rest of the event even though it just ended, bc I love Kon and I'd feel so sad if I didn't finish his week. So, day 3. I wanted to originally do the whole Ravers team, but since I'm speedrunning I decided to just draw one of them, so ofc I drew my KING. Hero Cruz THE goat. But um. I've never drawn someone bald before and also facial hair is so difficult for me so PLEASE don't look too closely hahaha!!

Anyway, I LOVED the ravers, and it's a shame they didn't continue past the final issue. I personally believe they still keep in touch as much as they can. Especially these two because sorry they were BEST FRIENDS. TO ME. They go on yearly roadtrips for old time's sake.

The world as Kon experienced it and the world as Kon was told about are different. It takes a while for him to figure that out, though. The world is more complicated and wonderful and terrible than any information that was downloaded in his head in Cadmus could tell him. He began learning that fairly quickly, all things considered. Some other stuff was more complicated to figure out. It’s hard, after all, to figure out the differences in your own experience of the world as compared to other people if you don’t have the language to do so. And it’s not really something huge, so it’s easy to brush off.

Or: Some times that Superboy didn’t realize he had Kryptonian senses, and one time Kon finds out he does, for @90skonweek Day 7: Free Day.
