To say that Sanggil barely had time to exist these days would probably be the understatement of the century. With schedules piling up, from an album release to the Mama awards and a charity concert as well – it was way too much at once and to say that the soloist was burn out would be the understatement of the century. Returning once again late to his apartment he kicked off his shoes into the corner and deposited his coat on the rack, not even bothering it to hang it up in the actual closet. As he walked into his apartment he was surprised to find people on the couch. And not just any people, some of his closest friends that he hadn’t seen in so long. “Jaeho!” He exclaimed happily, bag dropping onto the arm chair as he all but threw himself into the older males arms. “Holy hell man, I’ve missed you!”

It was so rare these days that Sanggil was ever actually able to talk to Taeyeon, let alone sit down at a restaurant and spend some time with her. Of course, with their luck, the latter ended up being totally out of the question so now they were sequestered to the males apartment, hiding from a few overzealous fans that were parked outside of his building, waiting to grab a photograph of the two longtime friends. “So much for my reservations.” Sanggil said with a small chuckle as he poked at the ramen noodles that he was currently boiling in a pot, a bowl set aside full of different shellfish options from anchovies to small neck clams. Seafood ramen was one of his favorite things to cook. It was easy, delicious, and oh so perfect for those cold November days. “Sorry for getting us stuck in here – tweeting this was probably a bad idea as I’m coming to realize.”

Slowly in the process of re-doing all of Sanggil’s icons and what not but I’ll just go iconless in threads for right now until I have enough - we’ll get there. The track Boom (Turn Up The Music) is the title track off of Yoda’s seventh album after more than a year long wait from his last full length feature. Boom is written and produced by Yoda with an upbeat temp and his signature edm sounds– updated to have a more modern and peppier twist. The song is all about sticking together and being there for one another as well as how music can bring power to those that hear it. He personally dedicated this song to his JEDI’s for constantly sticking by him through everything that he has been through in his personal and professional life.

CONCEPT

After a year long hiatus due to personal and professional reasons Yoda has come back with his seventh album, mixing his original EDM and house beats with a much poppier and bubblegum sound as a way to depict how happy he is right now in his life. BOOM hits all of the main roots that Yoda has made his career on: EDM and trap tones, house beats and a powerful bass, with a mixture of those new sounds that everyone has come to appreciate and love in the Korean music industry. He designed and wrote the album as a homage to his fans for sticking by him, saying (especially through the title track) that the fans bring him power through their music and love. Though it’s the middle of winter Yoda decided to release a pop inspired album to help lift peoples spirits in the cold time, wanting to give them something to get up and dance too– despite the dreary season. He’s happily bringing forth a happy-go-lucky type of music and slowly integrating himself into the idol lifestyle, BOOM being his formal introduction into that world as so many put it. This album as both an English version and a Korean version, with both being released through his own personal studio and Universal Music (both in America and Korea). The album is a mix of EDM, pop hits, ballads, and tunes mixed in between.

an updoot: At the request of Holden's mun, Yoda's ex will now be nameless-- but don't you worry, that whole plot line isn't going away or anything like that as it's still a huge part of who he is and why he acts the way he does about certain things. Since Holden decided to revamp the muse and what not I've decided that I'm going to respect their wishes from here on out. (If anyone asks, the ex's name is Nedloh Eel and he models larp equipment ㅋㅋㅋ I'm kidding but I've been laughing about it for twenty minutes let me have my fun.)

Comebacks always meant incredibly late and Sanggil being out at three or four in the morning still rehearsing was not totally unheard of for the soloist. But sometimes it backfired, and his rigorous practices for the dance that goes along with his title song causing his ankle to roll. It was on the same leg that was already weakened from the car accident so he went down right to the floor, grunting as he landed on his rear end. “Fuck.” He cursed a bit, grabbing at his ankle with one hand and letting out a slow breath. ‘No tears, Gil. If you cry and get caught your manager will kick your ass’ Sanggil repeated to himself inside of his head, reaching over to his bag and digging around before pulling out his cellphone. Sighing a little bit he dialed the number for the only person he knew could help him. 

“Hey Suji? It’s Gil-- please tell me you’re not working right now.”

“Diets are stupid.” Sanggil grumbled a little bit as he leaned back in the chair a bit, propping his feet up shamelessly against the desk the mixing board sat on as he shoveled a huge bite of kimchi ramen into his mouth. He felt bad eating in front of Sunnie, in front of the L:OVELESS leader, but he was starving and she was still running lines and lyrics for a demo-- and he didn’t see it being ready yet. But, they had taken a small break and were just chatting as they spoke through the microphones on either end of the recording booth and his own spot. “I honestly don’t think I’d survive if I couldn’t eat ramen or pizza whenever I wanted-- thank god I’m not part of a conventional label.”
