So I finally realized what it is I don’t like about these drawings. My Ryland.

It’s because I suck at drawing his hair and feel like there’s too much empty forehead space, so I just need more practice with his hair and then maybe I won’t find my drawings of him ugly anymore.

Exactly! I needed a reason for Carl’s sudden energy and then I remembered the scene where she was like “no I need both” and realized she must be consuming a lot of caffeine lol
