Lykke Li - utopia Often indie artists’ attempts to turn more pop fall flat. Not the case with Lykke. I have long been a fan of her work, and her latest album is a refreshing change of pace which highlights the best aspects of current pop music.

Yuno - No Going Back
My late spring, early summer jam. Will be on every one of my playlists from here until October.
Middle Kids - Lost Friends
Immediately my favorite album of the year. These appealing melodies and lyrics defined and delivered with such angst and appetite have been stuck in my head since Friday’s release.
Parisalexa - Leaves and Seasons
Definitely not a top genre for me, but this R&B artist from Seattle invokes the late-90s/early-00s era (e.g. Aaliyah).
The xx - Shelter (Jamie xx live remix)
Saw The xx for the first time live last night. Fantastic show. Jamie xx’s talent level is incomprehensible.
Little Children - Baby
This artist’s 2016 LP was one of my favorites of the year. Another solid, soothing track follows up.
#tbt: The Kinks - Got to Be Free
Anyone that knows me well knows I am not a Beatles fan and think they are vastly overrated. For me, the triumvirate of British Rock/Pop is populated by The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and The Kinks.
Chastity Belt - Different Now
Vocals vacillating from melancholy to earnest, salted with uplifting chords. Lovely tune.
King Henry ft. Rhye - Moment
Minimalist chill tune reminiscent of some older Perfume Genius tracks.
Japanese Breakfast - Road Head
Shades of Beth Orton in Michelle Zauner’s voice. Good AM/hangover track.
TBT... Starfucker - Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second
A track that I still randomly here in drugstores and bars alike and it seems to fit every situation.
Broken Social Scene- Skyline
Nostalgic or no, a great album 7 years overdue.
The National - Guilty Party
Good to see a return to Boxer, High Violet era National.
#TBT...Oasis - Talk Tonight
Possibly my favorite song from the Gallaghers, and highlights how much better of a vocalist Noel was than Liam. Also just realized that this song supposedly “saved the band” back in ‘94.
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - Molotov
Continuing to put out stellar Americana tunes without the Nashville fluff.
