I think the Good Life is defined differently for everyone, depending on each ones goals and how successful they deem themselves in reaching their goals.

The whole concept of success is bound up in achieving, and having achieved, one can view themself as 'living the good life'.

For some this means a penthouse , for some a hermit's hut. It is not the life style in question, but how we each feel about how we live in relation to to how we want to live.

As for living for others, that is also a matter of personal definition. The successful business man may feel fulfilled by the knowledge that he is doing good for the world by being productive in society. The successful hermit may feel fulfilled in that he is doing good for the world by taking no more from the earth than he can replinish.

The Good Life is much more of an internal reality than an external one.
