::Hey Thunderlane do you have a species of tree that can grow insanely fast?:: Marko poked the tree now occupying the kitchen counter.
::A couple. None from Earth. Why?::
::Counter and wall. A few panels came off, but the roots aren’t around any wires.::
::Okay, that’s good at least. Does it look like an Earth tree?::
::Kinda like an oak? I don’t know trees that well.::
::Okay then. Here’s what I want you to do—you might wanna record this. Carefully detangle the roots from whatever they’re wrapped around and carry the tree to the Botany Bay. To carry it without damaging it, put a servo under the root system or support and wrap your other arm around the trunk. You ever see a human carry a bayonet? Kind of like that.
::The door scanner doesn’t recognize you yet, so enter the code 475-211-5840. Go to the Earth biodome; it’s the only one that’ll be open. Find an open spot by the other flora where the soil is dark and moist and dig a hole that’ll cover the lower 20% of the tree and it’s roots. Place the tree carefully in the hole, then place and pack the soil back in—don’t pack it too hard, though—and then thoroughly water the tree. Use the tank of water that’s brownish, it’s got fertilizer product in it. There’s a hose with a sprayer and a water pressure panel you use to water. Set the pressure to 4 and the sprayer to ‘shower’.
::That should be good until we get back and I can anchor it properly. If the tree starts to fall over, go get some of the medium hoverspheres from Crank’s shop and tie 3 of them to the branches spaced 1/3 away from each other and set them to 5 or 6.
::Think you can do it, pretty please?::
Oh wow that was a big list. ::I think I can...:: Not even a little confident he wasn't going to mess something up.
Marko gingerly poked at the roots spanning the walls. This was going to be a task. He started at the trunk and wiggled the roots free from the counter, making sure to break as few as he could. ::I'm guessing it's alright if a few roots break?:: Snap.
"Whoops."
Oh well, it's not like trees can feel pain. He wriggled the rest of the roots free and took the odd tree to its biodome. "Here ya go little guy," he muttered as he covered the roots in loam.
"You should be happier here than on the counter," he said to the tree as he turned on the water.
Hm, wonder where Mom went.
