A brief introduction (showing character design.)
Hello, All! I am Gaijen, one of my tribe that has ventured to these lands in search of community and perhaps some light chaos, I hope as I travel we could get to know one another better. and perhaps in time, I could find a place to call my own within these lands.
ooc tiiime, but really Gaijen is heavily ooc anyways and is going to be mostly a comical/really quickly moving bug as they're designed off of a leafhopper, which was fine at first, I mean it was interesting and they're one of my favorite bugs.
...
and then I remembered how fast those things move and suddenly I had an accidentally overpowered character that could move fast enough to travel from one end of pharloom to the other in mere minutes. not to say they don't have their flaws or lore, but I swear they weren't meant to be this excessively fast, however, I suppose that's what you get when you translate a real-world bugs speed into a hollow knight-esque character (I'm pretty sure this guy could make the journey between hollownest and pharloom in half an hour give or take-)
either way, here's what they look like:
where to start on the lore...
well the mask is a good a place as any, so let's get to it.
the yellow lines are to divert anyone's gaze away from Gaijen's eyes, and where they're looking so that they won't be able to tell where Gaijen is planning on going/escaping/darting to next, and yes it is reflective to increase the level of distraction. they received it around the same time as their plate (which was their second molt, or pre-adolescent stage, this will come up in the future) so it's also pretty important to them. they are outgrowing it though as it's obvious it's starting to fit looser.
let's go with the plate next, because it's also important.
as you might be able to see on the page, it's made of a translucent steel, a craft native to their tribe, none of which (allegedly) are here. the plate was received at about the same time, albeit slightly later since the steel takes longer to create then the mask. although with how far Gaijen is from their homeland, it's excessively important to them (not the mask though, that's mostly for defense, the plate's the ceremonial part) and it is extremely durable, enough to withstand blows that would kill a bug, but not infinitely. the plate also has patterns that camouflage their body to their armor, their front actually looks more like an actual leafhopper but they don't want other bugs to be repulsed by that fact. (plus, decency goes a long way in diplomatic relations, or so I hear)
the hood is next, so bear with me.
it's nothing really, just a hood comprised of moss that's not native to pharloom (yes it is still alive, somehow.) and seems to regrow any tears that come to it. (perhaps that could be a thing later on.)
the magnetite holder is interesting, so let's get to that real quick.
the magnetite holder is yet another craft native to Gaijen's tribe that is still important to them, but more so to have a place to hold their weapon(s?) than anything. and it has the strength almost equivalent to a supermagnet. and a funny detail about leafhopper legs is that they bulge outwards a little so Gaijen has large muscles from pulling their weapon off the holder repeatedly. it also attaches to the steel plate.
that was a bit more than I was intending to write for a somewhat simple weapon holder, but as you can see, there's the weapon Gaijen currently wields crafted by @twelfth-architect-official. they had one before, but lost it while they were traversing the wastes after a heavy fight with something. (they couldn't even see what it was.) they figure the one from the twelfth architect is a suitable replacement (and even comes with some additional features, like retractability and a clawed edge for more precise strikes) here's a more detailed look:
and hoo boy the oc is here.
speaking of, let's get to Gaijen's actual biology.
and by that I mean let's get to some of their features.
as is evident, Gaijen has some things that most other bugs don't have going on, such as really powerful legs in order to jump long distances which lets them move extremely quickly, then their wings which are much more interesting with a consistency like strongly, well-woven cloth and typically free-flowing when not in use, like a cape. when they are in use though, the wings are rigid and typically require Gaijen to crouch lest they put too much pressure (and pain) on the wings. this also makes them look much more like their real world counterpart, and the wings breaking isn't typically a concern as they heal really quickly when not in use. (this could have possible lore implications later on.) that's about it for the biology as well.
their tribe will come up later, but it's similar to verdania in some ways (gream)
Finally their name.
Gaijen is actually a play on Gigan(tic) which is typically what the species of trees in their homeland are called. their actual name is more along the lines of giagan but their parents weren't having that because they would be an average size for their tribe. the trees themselves have no real world counterparts.
Congratulations, you make it to the end of the intro post, I'm just going to state a few more things before I close this post off.
Gaijen is they/them for lore reasons and lore reasons primarily, refer to them as anything else and you will be scorned.
don't try to take Gaijen too seriously because they really aren't meant to be a serious character, I'm playing tuoys here and really am just looking forward to having a good time in this community.
expanding on the previous statement: DON'T BE AFRAID TO SEND THIS BLOG ASKS, seriously, I will respond to them as fast as possible.
and just a heads up this user and the mod are ANTI-SHAMING AND KILLING PEOPLE FOR EXISTING and any and all racism or sexism will be shot out of my askbox posthaste.
and that's about it, have fun interacting, and let's see where the winds take us.
