Hello!

This is a blog mainly focused on a book I’m planning called Estheria. it focuses on a girl named Sienna, who discovers that she is of Estherian descent, and learns that the place is inching towards war with another alternate dimension called Galliyon.

While you’re here, please remember not to be rude to others (that qualifies for life in general, but we’re just talking about my blog). If you’re rude, homophobic, racist, or anything like that in any way, you will be blocked immediately. I want to make this as comfortable of a space as possible.

I’m also looking to make this story relatively diverse. I’m a firm believer in the fact that everyone should be able to have a fictional character like them that they can look up to. If you know of any religion, race, sexuality, etc. that you think needs more representation in media, then please let me know. If you’d like, we can also create the character together :)

Griffins -- How They Work in Estheria

Griffins are hostile towards sartanas and shapeshifters, but they mostly stick to an island called Griffindale. Griffindale is, for the most part, covered in trees. There are some lakes here and there, but they’re hard to find.

Griffins live in caves and live and travel alone. They also like to collect shiny things like diamonds and gold, so it’s common to find treasures and valuables in their caves. Their main diet consists of fish, insects, lizards, frogs, and other things of that nature

Shapeshifters -- How They Work in Estheria

Shapeshifters are separate from sartanas, even though they look the exact same and have similar behaviors. They can also be sorted into two groups: animals and sartanas.

Animal shapeshifters are best at shapeshifting into animals (mostly Estherian animals, although with enough practice and enough visits to Earth, shapeshifters can learn to become things like lizards and frogs). They can’t talk while they are in animal form, but they still have the intelligence of a sartana and will figure out ways to communicate with those around them.

Sartana shapeshifters can be dangerous, since their abilities are much more likely to get to their heads than animal shapeshifters. This type can turn into sartanas (for example, it can turn into the Queen of Hartengale or into a normal citizen of Estheria). It is best to avoid this type because they like to play tricks on others.

Mushroom Villages and the Mushroom People

Mushroom Villages are villages that are spread across Estheria. They consist of tiny houses and lots of farmland and livestock. They are the main source of food for the rest of Estheria. In fact, the only reason there are other shops in cities and kingdoms that aren’t run by the Mushroom People is because the shop owners are buying items from Mushroom Villages and selling them in their own shops (of course there are sartanas that bake or cook their own goods, but it is very rare). 

The Mushroom People are around four feet tall and have what looks like big mushroom hats on their heads. They tend to be very clumsy and forgetful, but they’re still kind nonetheless. They have hooked noses and the men have long white beards.

Mushroom Villages pretty much own the Estherian economy. The way it works is that they will make products for varied prices, and then ship them out to royal families and mayors to sell. If a sartana wanted to start up their own shop, they would travel to their nearest Mushroom Village and buy the goods that they want to sell. Mushroom people will provide this at a normal price until after a month, and then the price will double if they want to keep their shop run (for example, since sunny cow meat is normally $15, it would become $30). This is to discourage sartanas from establishing their own shops, since that presents a lack of income for Mushroom Villages.

Dragons -- How They Work In Estheria

Before Estherians had fled to Estheria, the hunters had already killed much of their population. Dragons were hit especially hard by it and their population is still low to this day, although the numbers are slowly growing higher.

Dragons behave similar to intelligent dogs. They attach themselves to a trainer and become almost possessive over them. They have great senses of smell and hearing, which helps when they are living in the wild. Their main diet consists of fish and grass, although sometimes they will eat the livestock of Mushroom Villages (Mushroom Villages and the Mushroom People will be explained in the next post). 

Dragons often travel in groups called clubs. Dragons that are in clubs will usually be the same elements (the elements will be covered in the next paragraph).

Most dragons can be sorted into one of five categories: earth, water, fire, light, and dark. These are what they have the most control over. Dragons that don’t have an element are generally outcasts and they travel alone.

Earth dragons are the most peaceful of all the dragon types. This is because they are more connected to nature. They are shades of green and brown and mostly live in dense forests. This means that it is almost common to see them near Rado Kingdom and Norana Kingdom. They are friendly towards sartanas, and sometimes they even play with the children in Rado and Norana Kingdom.

Water dragons are capable of breathing underwater. Instead of eating fish, they are herbivores that eat grass and leaves and live near the ocean shore and around large rivers and lakes. This causes many of them to live in Estheria Kingdom and Norana Kingdom due to the amount of water surrounding the two kingdoms. Most of them are shades of blue, but some will be more of a sea green. They don’t eat fish because they almost feel as though it is their job to protect them.

Fire dragons are hostile for the most part unless you give them some sort of meat. Even then however, they may still attack you. They live around the volcanos in Lavanta. They are one of only a few living things in Lavanta, so food is pretty scarce. Due to this, cannibalism isn’t very uncommon. They are the most deadly dragon type and can be red, orange, yellow, or a mixture of the three. They don’t travel in clubs and remain solo.

Light dragons are the second most peaceful dragon type in Estheria. They have no specified habitat, since they travel all over the land. They mostly stick to the skies, although they do come down to spend time with sartanas in cities, kingdoms, and sometimes even Mushroom Villages. They mostly eat birds and fish. Their colors are usually white and/or yellow, but sometimes they can be tan. Their scales practically glow, which is a phenomenon that Estherian scientists still haven’t figured out. They are enemies with dark dragons though.

Dark dragons are the final dragon type to talk about before we move on to dragons that just straight up don’t have a type. Dark dragons are nocturnal and see better in the dark. They live mostly in Nellenta Forest, which is an incredibly dark and dense forest. They eat fish, birds, and mice and are usually black, gray, or purple in color. They mostly stay in Nellenta Forest, although they do come out every once in a while if they are hunting or looking for water. They are sometimes hostile towards sartanas and always hostile towards other dragons. They are enemies with light dragons.

Dragons that don’t have an element, otherwise known as blankons (pronounced sort of like planktons but with “blank” in place of “plankt”). They can come in any color, although the most common colors are dark shades of red and dark shades of green. Some of them are the result of opposite and thus incompatible dragon types breeding (such as water and fire or dark and light). Most commonly though, they are caused by an illness known as terrinten that causes dragons to be born without an element. They have been tested on by Estherian scientists to see if they can be given an element, but there have been no successes.

Sartanas -- A Type of Estherian

Sartanas are the main inhabitants of Estheria, as they are the ones who run all the kingdoms and cities (except for Estheria Kingdom, which is run by fairies). Whenever I say Estherian, I usually mean sartanas unless stated or implied otherwise. They look identical to humans even though they are much more advanced.

Sartanas have an incredibly high heat tolerance and an IQ nearly three times the amount of humans. They are capable of learning alchemy, sorcery, and dragon training, as well as being highly skilled and strategic warriors. Their blood is gold and has a slight glow to it. They have extremely long lifespans, as they are able to live for up to 850 Earth years. 

Sartanas that are of royalty tend to be the most advanced, especially the royal family of Hartengale Kingdom (the geography will have its own post later).

Specializations are sort of like a sartana’s job. They study for them at academies in Estheria.

The next section will cover all the different specialties sartanas can have. Most sartanas specialize in one or two, but sometimes, on a rare occasion, there will be a sartana with three specializations. Sartanas aren’t born with their specialization, instead they have to go to academies for it. Keep in mind that not all Sartanas have to specialize in something.

Sorcery

Sorcery is the hardest specialization to learn, and many drop out before the course is finished. Sartanas that specialize in sorcery can be broken into two categories: mental and physical.

Mental sorcerers learn abilities such as telepathy and telekinetic abilities. This is the most difficult category to learn, thus making it the most difficult and the rarest specialization out there.

Physical sorcerers learn abilities like fire conjuring and limited weather manipulation (such as causing a small storm in one area or making the wind blow at high speeds).

Those who specialize in sorcery are called sorcerers and sorceresses.

Alchemy

This is the easiest specialization to learn, so it is often a go-to for those that are being pressured to specialize in something even though they don’t want to. Thus, there’s a huge amount of alchemists.

Even though this is the easiest specialization to learn, it is still harmful for those that are just starting out. There was once a case where the wrong potion had been brewed and it caused an illness that killed half of the class.

Those who specialize in alchemy are either called alchemists, or witches and wizards.

Dragon Training

This is the most dangerous specialization to learn, and many sartanas are either kicked out or simply drop out. Even then, it’s rare that the graduates would end up with a dragon afterwards.

During the course, instead of using real dragons (for the sake of keeping them in their habitats), dragon-like robots are used. Although they aren’t real dragons, they are practically identical in behavior. Because of that, they can be aggressive, and even lash out at students. This is what makes it dangerous.

Those who specialize in dragon training are called dragon trainers.

This is a full list of all creatures that live in Estheria. It also includes those that have gone extinct, as well as those that would have made it to Estheria had they not been killed in the 1200s. Each creature will have its own post, so I will not be describing them here. When their post is finished, I will attach the link to it

How Estherian Time Works

Estherian time is very different from Earth time, as there are different terms, “months” and “years” are different lengths, and its just a whole mess. Because it’s a whole mess, here’s how it all works. I’ll also go over how the weather changes throughout the zeltho.

A “year” in Estheria is equivalent to 500 Earth days, and it is called a zeltho.

The Ermentas (yes this requires a whole section of its own)

A zeltho is split up into ten different parts, and these are called ermentas. Ermentas are like what we know as months, and they each have their own names.

The first ermenta is called Elpentin. This is the first month of a weptua called arwepto (weptuas are like seasons, and they will be explained later in this post). This is also when normal Estherian school opens for students.

The second ermenta is called Reshen, and still takes place during arwepto. It is the final ermenta where normal Estherian school takes place. It closes again towards the end of Reshen.

Up next we have Pormanta. Pormanta takes up the first half of another weptua called guementos (pronounced gwe-MEN-tose). Mushroom People (who will be explained in another post) begin growing newer, fresher crops around this time.

The last ermenta in guementos is called Janterna. Towards the end of the ermenta, it begins to cool down even more, and all training academies begin opening back up (training academies will each have their own posts later).

The fifth ermenta is called Wellra and it’s the first ermenta of a weptua called surana. This is the first one of the two coldest ermenta. At some point in Wellra (it varies from year to year), Mushroom People begin to get meat from the animals.

The sixth ermenta is called Seltenia. It’s the final ermenta of surana. The best climate takes place just between Seltenia and the next ermenta, Urnana.

Urnana, also known as the “Ermenta of the Dragon” is the seventh ermenta. During this ermenta, another weptua called erkanta begins. Dragons begin to hatch out of their eggs during this month (there will be a post on dragons later).

Hantrell, the eighth ermenta, is the end of erkanta. Dragons finish hatching and begin their flight from Nellenta Forest to Norana Forest, although it is still rare to see one. All the training academies close until the next Janterna.

Tulo is the ninth ermenta. It marks the beginning of a weptua called drequate. During this month, kingdoms (which will have their own posts) begin hiring and training Estherians for jobs like spies, law control, and other things of the sort. Mushroom People finish collecting meat from animals, and finish collecting crops.

The final ermenta is called Orsane and is the end of drequate. Kingdoms finish training the Estherians that they hired.

Weptuas

Weptuas are similar to seasons. This is because the weather changes with them. Please note that all temperatures will be put in Fahrenheit because I’m American and it’s easier for me to write. Also note that Estherians have an extremely high heat tolerance.

Arwepto is the first weptua of a zeltho. It begins on the first of Elpentin and ends on the 50th of Reshen. It can range from 110° to 122°, although the highest ever recorded was 125°.

Guementos is the second weptua. It begins on the first of Pormanta and ends on the 47th of Janterna. Its temperature usually ranges anywhere from 92° to 100°.

Surana is the coldest of all other weptuas, and it also has the biggest range. It begins on the 48th of Janterna and ends on the 49th of Seltenia. The temperature is usually between 74° and 86°.

The fourth weptua is erkanta. Erkanta begins on the 50th of Seltenia and ends on the 50th of Hantrell. The temperature can range from 88° to 98°. Erkanta also experiences the most stormy weather.

And finally, we have drequate. Drequate begins on the first of Tulo and ends on the 50th of Orsane.

How Estheria Was Formed

Up until the 1200s (the Medieval Times), humans and mythical beings like pixies, dragons, and other sorts, all lived together on Earth. They worked together to hold up a society and sustain decent lives.

Eventually around the early 1200s, humans broke this trust. They became greedy, and decided that the only way to keep the powers of the creatures was to hunt them down and kill them, taking their magic for themselves. The creatures began to live in fear and felt trapped in a corner.

Pixies ended up being the ones to create Estheria. The only portal can be found underground, inside an old abandoned tunnel and hidden from the eyes of humans.

The creatures, now calling themselves Estherians, created different cities and kingdoms that would help them survive. To this day, they are still operating with better quality of life. They still haven’t completely recovered from the 1200s; dragons are still scarce, griffins still hide, but it was slowly getting better
