“It was awesome! I’m sort of use to…roughing it, I guess you could say. I did stay in a hotel a few times though. Can’t say that after a week or so a hot shower is sort of amazing. Well I’m glad you did. Always nice to have a bit of eye candy.”

“kudos to you for being BRAVE. i break a nail & it’s the end of the world as we know it. i like hotels with rather large bathtubs for like the perfect bubble bath. i’m sure you’re really interested in that, though? —thank you, i like that i can ENTERTAIN the eyes. so, you said you’re used to roughing it? why is that?”

"Hey. I can enjoy a good bubble bath. Its definitely on my to do list for the near future. I could use a nice relaxing day. --Well...its kind of a crazy story but if I learned anything about Magnolia, pretty much everyone has a crazy story to tell. I was part of a governmental experiment to try and find a cure for something that was called the Flare....and I should probably mention that this happens like...a few decades or centuries in the future. Not totally positive on the time line there."

The blonde’s eyes widened at what the world was really like. The world they knew was destroyed, dry, hot and in some places freakishly cold. The whole world was messed up because of the Flare. “Really?!” He asked excitedly, the thought of seeing these places excited him yet scared him at the same time. He released Minho and followed him to the couch to sit down, propping his ankle up on the ottoman, a few scars visible. “Shuck the mermaids, what is this about presents?” He asked, not wanting to talk about how he coward in a corner while Thomas chose danger again and went out and nearly drown. It would also dredge up the bite that had now healed upon his neck. “Where did you go? I missed you..” He asked as he scootched closer to the Asian teen, pressing his head upon Minho’s shoulder as he looked up at him with big brown eyes. It was one of the many things he once did with him in the Glade before Tommy came back into their lives. Like nothing happened, he bonded with Thomas again like old time’s sake, before the Maze. “So are you staying? I don’t want to be alone tonight…” He murmured solemnly, still unnerved by his evasive attacker.

"Awe come on! I want mermaid stories. Were there any cute mermen?" Minho teased with a gentle nudge of his elbow as he leaned back in his seat. Mermaid sounded a little better than grievers or cranks...or so he thought. "Yeah yeah. Presents. " he said a she rolled his eyes a little grabbing the bag he had abandon on the floor and pulled out a two bags. "It's nothing special. I just got you a short and a mug and stupid stuff like that."He said a she handed him one of the bags. He grinned happily and moved to wrap his arm around the other boy's shoulder. "Well yeah. You said Thomas want gonna be home so I guess I have your cute little shuckface all to myself."

Backstory. A5 & A7.

Living in the Maze was a living hell. Day in and day out they watched poor dumb shanks arrive up in the box. The first thirty that WICKED had sent up into the Maze Trials, had dwindled, despite their daily new arrivals. Everything after Georgie and the failed attempt at Grief Serum, had left the small, scared yet ever growing Glade terrified. Most never signed up to be a runner, not anymore. They had to be elected by the Gathering, and above all, approved by the keeper of the runners, Minho.

“I should have asked you to come with me.“Minho grinned as he gave her a little wink. “Of course I missed you. Most gorgeous sight I have ever seen.” He added as he gave her a little playful nudge with his elbow.

Isabelle mused with a soft chuckle and shock her head. "Had you asked I would have probably said yes.” She smirked as she moved to sit down. “Oh is that so? You didn’t mean any other pretty girls out there?” She mused.

Minho grinned as he looked down at her. "What can I get you, milady?" He asked as he glanced over to the counter. "My treat." He added. "Now I never said that. You just happen to ve very very pretty."

“In my defense I had never been to a restaurant before. Give me break.” Minho replied putting a hand on his hip. “And yes I went backpacking in Europe and Asia.”

“Can’t do that, sorry,” Malia raised her eyebrows, but she was smiling. “Europe and Asia? How did you even afford that?”

"Damn. Denied." Minho said with a small laugh, happy to see he managed to get the girl to smile. "Sold some, uh, things I had. I camped in the woods a lot to save money. I have realized that it is fun to adventure when your life isn't in peril...And you can totally for get i said that cause I know realize how weird that sounds."

“Good good.” Minho smiled as he reached out and took her hand in his own giving a gentle shake. “The pleasure is all mine…uh, mademoiselle? Did I say that I right?” He said with a small laugh having visited France only a week or so ago and picked up on a few words while there, hoping to impress.

“Yes! That was perfect.” She laughed, nodding. “You are familiar with France?”

"I was just in France a couple months ago. But don't. Test me. I only bow a couple words and phrases. It's such a pretty language."

As his arm wound around her waist, she couldn’t help but smirk. He was good for her ego. “So where or where did you run off to, little runner boy?” She asked as she walked her fingers along his shoulder as the reached the restaurant, her free hand reaching out to open the cafè’s door.

"Did some backpacking in Europe and Asia. " Minho explained grabbing the door as she pulled it open. "After you, gorgeous." he said with a cheeky grin as he held the door open for her. "And what have you been up to in my absence, little lady?" He asked, slipping inside afterward.

“Well I first ended up here two months ago and then I took a backpacking trip but no place felt like home until I got back here. Only been here about a week or two now. How about you?”

“backpacking? dude, how are you even alive? i mean, walking through the woods can be the worst. ACTUALLY voluntarily doing it for FUN? yeah—- i couldn’t do it. hotels are my JAM. not too long, can’t really pinpoint it. i’m pretty sure i blocked out most of the beginning because i was a mess.”

“Ha ha. Speaking the truth is what I do. Nice to meet you too. I’m Minho.”

Minho couldn't help the smile on his face as he pulled back and looked over the other. He wouldn't admit it but he was happy to see that at least Thomas had managed to keep himself in one piece. He was never totally sure that his greenie ever actually knew what he was doing or how to take care of himself. He was usually too busy being reckless. So safe to say he was happy to see him unharmed. "I missed you too ya ugly shank. Get on in here." he told him as he stepped aside to let his friend in. "And one question at a time, shuckface. " He said with a roll of his eyes. "I went out one day into the woods in Paradise and walked right through a Flat Trans and it spit me out right at the gates. And then I found Newt. Only lived here about a month until I needed to go and make sure this place was as good as it seems. I went to the west coast and then Asia and then Europe. Not one sign of those slintheads from WICKED. Does that about cover it?"

Minho is here too. The sentence had stuck with Thomas from the very moment Newt had told him. The arrival of every glader would leave Thomas thrilled, but Minho was special. Minho was the Minho. Him and Newt had always been special to Thomas. “Min!” Thomas called through the entire corridor, before knocking loudly and far too excited at his friend’s door. “Minho! Are you actually here?” He still couldn’t believe it.

Minho had sworn he heard Sim one calling his name. It wasn't until he heard the slam on his door that he was absolutely positive. He laughed a little recognizing the voice who was calling him. He walked to the door and pulled it open. "Calm down you crazy shank. You're gonna wake whole shucking apartment building." he said ever so fondly as he pulled the other boy into his arms and hugged him tightly. "It's good to see you Thomas."
