freyarusso:
“I definitely know what you mean, yeah. I do prefer fall or spring for camping opposed to summer.” Freya wasn’t a big fan of summer in general; she never had been. And camping was definitely much better when you didn’t sweat to death in a tent. “Oh, no, you don’t have to. I know you got the kids, and I’ll be fine. I’ll just stay at home and sleep in and stuff,” she waved Aaron off with a crooked smile. “Camping alone is kind of boring, I guess. And depressing. So now, I’ll stick with staying home. There’s some stuff I should get done anyway.” But she’d rather avoid those things, especially having to visit her mother. “I don’t think you have to worry too much about your youth yet. Otherwise, I would be very worried about mine, too, and I don’t have time or energy for that yet.”
“Yeah, it’s just different when there’s a little nip in the air. The actual sleeping part is nicer, I think.” He smiled lightly at Freya, pleased to have found someone who agreed with him when it came to this. Not that it was something he often discussed with people, but it was good to know that if he did, he’d at least have Freya to back him up. “Sleeping in is pretty good too though. You should do a thing in between, or something, like camping in your own backyard. I used to do that as a kid all the time, and with my kids too actually,” he chuckled a little— he knew he was a cheesy dad, but he loved every second of it. “Okay, I guess you’re right, it’s kind of boring when you’re alone. Don’t you have anyone else who’s willing to come with you? I can lend you my kids if you want,” he joked, wiggling his brows with a laugh. “Oh please, you’re as youthful as ever, Freya. See these though—” he asked and pointed to the lines around his eyes when he smiled. “Not as youthful.”
tessxjenner:
Sex was the one topic that she had been taught early on to not talk about over food but alas nothing from her childhood had managed to stick. Here she was with Aaron in a public area confidently and without any shame at all. Instead, she was wide open and with a smile never flattening on her lips as she tilted her head side to side in pure amusement. “Because you are! — Come on, you have had more sex than I within the last six months, please tell me that is true because one of us should be having fun.” Usually Tess would be the one that would be having fun but apparently, this pesky thing called love had managed to fuck that up. But there were no worries because slowly and surely she was correcting the mistake of the past. “You really are vanilla you know that? Do you also like have Alexis play you some love playlist while you bang? Is Your Body is a Wonderland one of the songs that come on? Do you light up candles and just lure in females with that cheesy smile of yours? Do you, Aaron? Do you? I thought I taught you better? – I am going to try the pumpkin spice ones tomorrow night. I’ll write up a review just for you”
Laughing under his breath, Aaron shook his head in faux disbelief. Tess had spunk— enough charisma for days, and he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t taken by it, magnetized to a certain degree. At the very least, he found it incredibly easy to sit here and talk to her about even the most awkward of things without it feeling awkward at all. “Well, that depends,” he started, suppressing a lopsided grin on his lips. “Only if you’ve had very little sex in the last six months. I mean, can you blame me though? I’m a single dad with two kids under five,” he laughed. He loved being a dad, but it definitely did get in the way of an overly active sex life. At her playful conclusion, he rolled his eyes at her and ‘pfft’d, waving her off with a smooth motion of his hand before a chuckle escaped his lips. “Can’t have John Mayer in the room with us, are you kidding? I don’t need that kind of competition when I have sex. As for my cheesy smile,” he paused and put it on display, large and boyish— “You saying you’re immune to it, huh? Come on, look at it— that’s a nice smile and you know it.” He reached out and gave her shoulder a light squeeze and a shake, breaking out into earnest laughter a second later. “Alright, you do that! Make sure to get the guy’s comments about them too! Wanna make sure it feels good for everyone.”
fallonjaymes:
It hadn’t taken any further convincing, thankfully, Aaron now sliding into the same booth as he got himself comfortable opposite her. “There’s a million and one of him out there. He’s just the asshole that won’t quit tonight.” Fallon admitted, knowing she and others had to deal with people like this on the frequent. It wasn’t even just the males of his generation that had that ‘creep’ factor. There had been women that seemed to emulate that ‘crazy’ vibe that you just knew to back-off from. Keeping her eye on the guy across the bar, it seemed so did Aaron, taking note of the intense glare in their general direction, causing Aaron’s fingers to lace with her own from across the table. “I don’t think so, I’m gonna need a little more if we’re going to sell it.” The guy wasn’t an entirely brainless moron, surely? Not considering how much he was looking over at them, undoubtedly questioning the legitimacy of matters. Leaning over the table, she grabbed onto the material of Aaron’s shirt, pulling him into a firm kiss; his lips crashing on hers due to the rapid notion. Smiling against his lips, she knew she had caught him off guard, pulling away a moment later as she remained close; giving off the illusion that they were discussing more ‘intimate’ matters. “There we go. Job done.”
“Honestly, I don’t know how anyone still puts up with my gender,” he said with a shake of his head and a vague rise of his beer. He knew Portchester probably weren’t even that bad compared to the big cities, but it still bothered him that some men clearly didn’t know when enough was enough; when flattery warped into harassment, and he could only hope and pray something would happen soon to make everyone wake up and realize the difference between right and wrong. Despite lacing his fingers through Fallon’s, the narrow in the man’s gaze gave away his skepticism— he was far from sold, and Fallon sensed that too. What she also did, was remedy it quite quickly, pulling Aaron closer by his shirt, just enough to let lips find lips in a firm and, in his opinion, quite convincing kiss. He was not an idiot, and of course he only hesitated a fraction of a second before his eyes closed shut and he kissed her back, foregoing his beer to slide his hand up her arm to the nape of her neck where it stayed even after they parted again. “I almost forgot how ballsy you are, Jaymes—” He chuckled and shook his head lightly, the words brushing against her lips in their intimate little ruse. “I’m not sure he’s completely convinced yet though,” he teased and stole another kiss like it was nothing, hand applying light pressure to the back of her neck as he pressed his lips to hers for a lingering moment.
eloisevansteenwijk:
“You cannot be that much older than me.” Eloise argued. “You have nicer skin than I do.” That was just a face. She’d also run out of moisturizer three days ago and never got to Target so her was losing it’s luster. “Well my husband was there so I certainly hope they weren’t try to hit on me.” She laughed. “Well that’s good because I’m 29.”
“Aw, now I know you’re lying,” he said, chuckling under his breath. “Try almost a decade older than you.” On most days he didn’t feel 37 yet, but then sometimes, just once in a while, he felt a lot older than that too. He supposed having his first kid at sixteen and then raising her on his own kind of did that to people; aged them up fast. “Let’s hope not, though I guess some people have no shame. I’m sure that guy was just half blind though, that’s the only sensible explanation,” he added. “There you go. You’re younger than young!”
hcnachxe:
The Force was a group of divorcees, comprised of those scorned, in denial or like herself, alone. There was an interesting mix of members, most of which had opened her eyes to where she could have been should thing go too wrong… Hana had sheltered herself away from the world and chose to deal with their problems in private, but what good would that do her in the future? They were proof that hiding did little good and now, on her third failed date of the year, she was reminded of exactly why she had left the group in the first place. “Louis—-” She groaned as he let his arms drop, head hanging in shame as he shrugged the familiar male’s arm from his shoulder and went into the corner crying. For a moment her eyes lingered, hoping that one day he would seek the help he truly deserved… But the small part of her reserved for personal space and independence was simply relieved, snapping her head back to Aaron with an uneasy smile. “I think so, you know how harmless he is…” She brushed it off like it was nothing, as if the entire ordeal hadn’t left her feeling exposed and slightly violated. “I just—” She paused, trying to think of the word. “Thank you,” Hana nodded with a smile, one that was genuine. “I’m fine, honestly. You know how he is, it’s just a little much.”
Louis had all kinds of problems, and Aaron was pretty sure no one could fault him for thinking the support group wouldn’t magically help him solve everything— what the man needed, was some actual therapy, one on one with someone who knew what the hell they were doing. But of course, it wasn’t his place; he could only stand idly by, yet only for so much of it. This, his desperate cling to Hana’s petite form, that was too hard to ignore. “There we go,” he said, his ‘dad voice’ probably taking over for a beat there as Louis unwrapped himself from the raven haired female, sulking his way to a lone corner where he could weep on his own. Aaron pitied him, felt bad for the poor guy, but beyond that, felt very little for him. “I don’t know,” he mumbled, looking down at Hana when she tried unifying the word harmless with Louis. Compared to some men, maybe even most of them, he probably was, but it still didn’t mean it was okay— his overwhelming infatuation with Hana. “A little too much is probably an understatement.” He pressed his lips into a thin, thoughtful line before he touched a gentle hand to Hana’s elbow, as if manifesting her attention— “You’ll let me know if he bothers you again, right? I’m pretty good at talking sense into people; ask my 21 year old, non-smoking, honor-roll, goody two shoes of a daughter,” he joked, a large grin tugging at his lips.
tessxjenner:
A small smile grew on Tess’s lips which then let out a chuckle. “Basically and she is married to him so it’s not an easy adjustment to make.” She felt like the woman must have had enough to actually voice her sex life with her husband out in the air like that. Most females tended to keep that area somewhat of a secret since it was a taboo to speak so candidly about it. “What are the good ones, Aaron? Do tell me. Is there a brand that is better? A size that just fits everyone — what about the pumpkin spice ones? Think males will go for those?” she leaned onto the counter teasing as she wiggled her eyebrows in an upward and downward motion. “Or should I just go with the chai tea ones?” Oh on a good day she could truly make herself laugh.
“I don’t know whether to feel bad for him or for her— actually, I do. I feel bad for her. I hope this gives her husband something to think about,” Aaron said, a light chuckle escaping his lips under his breath. It probably wasn’t the most innocent conversation to have, but Tess was pleasantly easy to talk to, and he quickly found that there weren’t any awkwardness lingering despite the subject. “Wow,” he marveled at her, shaking his head lightly— “You ask me that as if I’m an expert somehow. I think I’m flattered,” he joked, his eyes crinkling at the corners when his lips pulled into a large grin. “I didn’t even know there were pumpkin spiced ones, but I would steer clear. As for me personally, I always go for the Trojans— force of habit more than anything I’m sure, but if it ain’t broke, right?” He shrugged his shoulders with a humorous expression lingering on his face, quickly swapped for an audible laugh that merged with Tess’. “Definitely go with the chai tea ones— that’ll be a surprise.”
freyarusso:
“Finally someone who understands.” Freya threw her hands into the air, head shaking. Yet it was nice to hear someone agree with her, after her sister tried to make it sound like the worst thing in existence. “It can be so cozy, and warm, you just need to know how to achieve that. And I do know, this is not my first camping trip in October. Well – now I’m probably not going at all, but whatever.” She saw no point in going without her sister, even if it had been her only vacation she planned this year. Then she’d just stay home and watch Netflix. “It did make you sound that old, yeah, but I can still relate. I don’t want to pay that much money for a drink at a place where I can’t even talk to people either.”
“Actually, waking up in the morning when you’re camping out is a hell of a lot nicer when it’s cold outside. There’s nothing like an overheated tent at 5am, you know what I mean?” Drenched in sweat was what he meant. He adored camping, and how much his kids loved it, but in the hottest summer months, any tent would reach a million degrees before the sun reached the sky. “I mean, I’d offer to go with you, but I have the kids,” he said with a light chuckle, head shaking. “You can go alone though, right? Or, I don’t know, I guess camping alone isn’t always ideal.” He’d done it when he was younger, but he liked it better with company. “Yeah, sometimes I feel that old too honestly,” he joked, chuckling lightly. “But I’m glad you at least agree— then there’s still hope for me and my youth.”
odettefairchild:
Apparently there were some decent humans left in the world after all, as evident by Aaron’s response to the situation; and to her earlier remark, regarding being used to the atmosphere created around her. “Just wait until you see a guy try to grab my ass and tell me I’m a ‘bad girl’.” She rolled her eyes, referring to the numerous types that had tried to get in her pants in the most obnoxious way possible, usually resulting in her grabbing their balls and twisting them until they were crying out in pain, or just plain punching them square in the jaw. Despite her incredibly petite frame, she packed a punch, that was for sure. And it was something that not many of the patrons anticipated. Her attention stolen at the touch of his hand against her elbow, a small consoling action from the male as her head turned to catch his gaze. “I’m fine. You don’t need to worry about me.” She began, continuing on seconds later at the mention of a free beverage. “What can I get you then? — I need a beer personally, shall I make it two?”
“Guys really do that? Jeez...” He knew people were bad, but that someone would put their hands on a woman like that, with derogative words to accompany it— it puzzled him, but not nearly as much as it angered him. He had a 21 year old daughter, and the thought of someone treating her like that, or her little sister when she was all grown up one day too, it kindled fire in the pit of his stomach. Before it could engulf him entirely, he wiped his palm down his face with a solemn expression, heaving air into his lungs to fill them to the brim, hoping to distract and calm himself just enough not to accidentally do something stupid— like follow the guy outside and smack him into the pavement. It wasn’t who he was, but maybe not who he wasn’t either. “Uh, I know I probably don’t need to worry about you, O— but I do. I worry about everyone,” he admitted, exhaling a defeated sigh before found himself on a seat by the bar. “Yeah, make it two— thanks.”
freyarusso:
“My little sister told me today that October is too cold to go camping. Who is she trying to kid? It’s never too cold to go camping, you can only be dressed inappropriately.” Frustration had taken over Freya’s voice as she shook her head, arms folding over her chest. “I think that’s just her way of politely saying she wants to drink with her college friends instead, because camping with her big sister is uncool – I can’t even blame her. But getting drunk with me at a fire would have been pretty cool as well, she’s missing out.”
“I agree— you can go camping at any time of the year. Is it more enjoyable in May? Perhaps,” he said, shrugging. “But that doesn’t mean it’s not fun in October though, and as you said; it’s all about what you wear and what you bring.” He chuckled lightly. Aaron was highly skilled when it came to camping— he’d done it just about a hundred times now with his kids. It was a hell of a lot more affordable than going to some fancy resort somewhere, and they loved it just as much as he did, so why the heck not? “Yeah,” he laughed, his eyes crinkling lightly at the corners. “She’s definitely missing out. That sounds pretty fun; way better than paying 18 buck for one drink at some place where the music is bad and too loud anyway. Wow, that made me sound about a hundred years old, didn’t it?”
samanthajaymes:
She wasn’t supposed to be out right now. The funeral director was meeting her today and she had a doctor’s appointment to check up on how she was doing since the accident. But by no means was Samantha able to deal with any of that right now. Truthfully, she just wanted to pick up and go and never come back to Portchester. But she didn’t get too far when she tried to run. Instead, she found herself on the dock — in the best spot there was with the most gorgeous views. Just standing here, hood up and a puffed up face from crying so much. As much as she wanted to run, she couldn’t, so she ended here with no clue what do next.
While no two pains were ever the same, Aaron liked to think he knew a little bit about loss, especially the sudden, unexpected and unthinkable kind that came from out of nowhere. He’d lost Grace in a blink of an eye, one reckless driver’s inattention and she was gone from one moment to another, his daughter rescued from her womb in the very last, critical second. He’d awoken to a different world in every sense of the word, and even today, so many years later, he still hurt— still longed for Josephine to have known her mom; for her mom to have been there to see what a beautiful human being they’d made, but in some ways, they were right; time did heal. Not everything, but enough to get by. When he noticed Samantha sitting on the dock, he hesitated only for a fraction of a second before he walked up to her and sat down beside her, not saying a word, just curling his arm around her protectively and pulling her against his side. “Hey...”
tessxjenner:
“I was at the store and apparently they are selling a new brand of Olympic condoms – this man buys some and when he comes out he tells his wife and she asks what is so damn special about them and he proceeds to tell her that they come in three colors – gold, silver, and bronze – so then, of course, the wife decides to ask what color he is going to wear and he said gold. I mean did you really expect anything else?” Tess took a breather between the story as she looked over at the individual that she had decided to have some sort of bizarre small talk with, “So then she suggested that he should wear silver cause it would be nice if he came second for a change – poor guy lit up like a Christmas tree – and that is why I just order condoms from online now.”
Aaron stayed relatively invested in the story, his brows lowering and raising as it proceeded, and at the very end, scrunching lightly as his eyes crinkled at the corners and laughter escaped his lips. “Wow,” was the first word out of his mouth, palm dragged down the front of his face in a wipe meant to gather him a bit. “Poor woman, is what I’m thinking, but yeah, maybe getting your condoms online is the way to go, and maybe just stick with the good old ones, right? No silver, no gold and no bronze.” He chuckled, head shaking lightly.
eloisevansteenwijk:
“Someone asked me if I had an AARP discount the other day and I almost cried.” Eloise deadpanned. “I mean, do I look like I’m older than fifty five?! Because if I do I might have to change my stance on plastic surgery.” She was sitting at the counter of her favorite diner and chatting with some of the locals. “Like, I started getting ma’amed in college, but shit.”
“No, come on!” Aaron dismissed her with a hand, shaking his head with a chuckle on his lips— “If you’re retired, what the hell does that make me then, huh? Long dead and gone,” he joked. “Whoever asked you is clearly deaf and blind, or trying to hit on you in a very unconventional way. You don’t look a day over 27, don’t worry.” He raised his half empty beer in a gesture, a nod of his head ensuing before he knocked back a healthy swig of it.
caradelucia:
Cara crouched down in attempt to tame the exuberant little animal as she continued to smother the man in messy kisses. “Her name is Indie. After my love for independent films actually.” She pushed a strand of loose hair towards the back of her left ear before standing upright to meet him face to face, finally obtaining a better look at the kind stranger. “She’s good most days. She could be a tad naughty but I mean… I could never stay mad at that gorgeous face for too long,” Cara beamed taking another glance at the french bull dog. “Do you have any pets of your own?” She questioned as she gave Indie a subtle back scratch.
“Oh, really? That’s a good name, inspired too— I like it,” he said with an approving nod and a crooked smile on his lips, his hands still busy petting the small dog. As for independent films, or any film that didn’t have an animated lamp squish the letter ‘I’ in the beginning, well, he hardly knew them. Having kids sort of derailed his time for real movies, unfortunately. He chuckled lightly and nodded his head— “I can see how her face might help her get away with all sorts of thing. She’s too cute to be mad at for too long,” he concluded with a scrunch of his nose and light laughter before he stood at his full height again. “I do. Got a small tortoise at home, a couple of chickens and our golden retriever Jellybean.”
jcssreed:
“Believe me, so am I,” Jessica answered sheepishly. Hoping to take the attention away from herself, she changed the subject. “But hey, how are you? How are the kids?” She wasn’t expecting to see Aaron at the bar, then again she never frequented the place enough to know who was a regular and who wasn’t. For all she knew he was there every night, kids or no kids. “Looking forward to Halloween?”
“Well, it’s all his loss,” Aaron reminded her with a kind smile and a half shrug of his shoulders. He didn’t know why anyone ever stood anyone up— it was rude, and the very least someone could do, was call them to let them know; preferably with a good reason. “Kids are good. Spending an evening with their grandparents,” he explained with a chuckle. “Daisy is very excited for Halloween, and Ollie is trying to be, but he doesn’t really remember what it is, or get it, so that’ll be fun.” He grimaced lightly, but there was a smile on his lips too. “What about you, how’re you?”
fallonjaymes:
“Exactly — so sit your ass down, Wilde.” The brunette added, demanding as ever, as she instructed the much taller male to take a seat; as per her original request. “Do us all a favour and keep me from getting arrested for assault, and let him keep his manhood and the ability to produce offspring.” She teased, referring to her earlier threats when it came to his so called ‘manhood’, and the swelling it would soon experience if made a b-line for her this evening. Considering her mood, she was in no mood to entertain his feeble attempts, and would sooner sit on Aaron’s lap and play pretend if that’s what it took.
He held up his free hand in surrender, a chuckle escaping his lips before he did what he was told— “Alright, alright, I hear you,” he said with a boyish grin, sliding into the empty seat with pleasure. While he hadn’t initially gone out looking for company, he definitely didn’t mind hers. “I’ll gladly keep you from getting arrested, but to be fair, maybe we’d all be better off if that guy didn’t reproduce, don’t you think? I mean, I don’t want my kids growing up with a miniature version of him around to pester them,” he grumbled with a humours tug to his lips, a genuine curve. He took a haphazard glance over his shoulder to locate the guy, only to find him staring him and Fallon down with an intensely focused glare. “Damn,” he whispered under his breath and reached over the table to cover her hand with his, sliding his fingers in between hers. “That should do it.”
odettefairchild:
It wasn’t uncommon for guys to get a little too drunk and aggressive at the tavern, and it was something that Odette had otherwise become accustomed to. So, when she had initially approached them, she had every faith she could handle this and de-escalate it the best she could. Alas, she had no idea just how ugly the male was going to get with his words, as he stood there calling her just about every name under the sun — some more disgusting than others. But before she could see red, they were interrupted by Aaron, who proceeded to make his stature very much known; the height and build of him a clear indicator he’d give them both a run for his money. Thankfully they soon ran off with their tails between their legs, now Aaron’s attention diverted towards herself and her stance on the matter. “I’m fine — I wish I could say I wasn’t used to this shit, but I am. Kinda numb to it all now.” It was unfortunate, really. Just how used to this situation she was, especially when it came to the personal attacks. “Thanks though. Want a drink on me?”
Aaron knew that small town where at least in some regard luckier than the big cities— but that foul mouthed and disrespectful people could be found anywhere nevertheless. He only wished someone like Odette didn’t have to stand prey to it, especially not to the point where she was more or less immune and used to it. “That makes me want to apologize even harder on my gender’s behalf,” he said, a deep frown setting on his features before she shook it off a moment later, reaching out to touch her elbow gently. “I’m glad you’re okay though.” A genuine smile tugged at his lips, growing a little wider at her offer. “Well, since you asked I guess it’d be rude of me to turn it down, so why the heck not.” He chuckled and turned to walk back to the bar with the blonde. “Thank you.”
