The Brain Scoop - Episode 22 Most of a Bear
This episode is months in the making - ever since Adam brought in the extremely aged skull of a black bear back in January, I have been anxious to collect the rest of the skeleton. That was easier said than done, however, as we had to contend with Montana’s fickle weather. The bear was about 2.5 miles (4km) up a closed service road so we would have to hike in to fetch it, and despite his navigational abilities I was somewhat skeptical it would still be there. The wait was worth it, though - we found the bear (or, most of it), and I plan on going back once the snow melts to pick up the rest of the pieces.
I want to also point out Michael’s incredible filming and editing with this episode as well. The cinematic scenes were either shot with just a steady hand, or - in the case of the sweeping scene where I’m scrubbing bones in the sink - filmed while being pulled in a rolling office chair. In other words, no special equipment was used. I think it goes to show you what is possible when you spend a little extra time on something, and really learn to work with what you have.

Folks. Important religious artifacts here.
Beautiful Decay:
After unknowingly purchasing fake pre-Colombian artifacts, artist Nadín Ospina gave serious thought to Latin-American culture and its ancient roots. His sculptures depicts pop-culture cartoon characters such as Snoopy, Micky Mouse, and Bart Simpson in an often pre-Colombian style.
So I was writing a paper for economics class and right before I selected print my computer froze. My paper wasn’t saved. This is exactly how I reacted.
