Numba Five 555

The bish of this project was the into to annotations. I had the  biggest problem with those 2-3 pages. It was hard!!! I feel like I was just repeating myself because I did the general intro first. I found it hard to make a intro paragraph for that certain paper because I just didm't know how to introduce the critics and my response to them. It was and probably is a disaster. I truly sat at the counter for a good few hours just starring at the screen because I was just so brain dead. I don't know what else to say except that it was a real struggle.

 The general introduction is the most important part of the paper so it puts a lot of pressure on me writing it. At first my thought was how am I going to write a three page paper just on an intro because I have yet to do so. In the beginning of course I was just summarizing the plot but after a little talk with a teacher I realized its more than that a summery. It is everything and anything that I want to say about the book that I didn't have a change to talk to someone about. Plot, writing style, why it is important, what I think. That basically sums up my into, and I am actually really surprised and pleased with myself that is it 4 pages. The idea may be a little choppy from one to another but I think the paper has a wide variety of topics that expresses my excitement for the novel.

Annotations. This I struggled with a lot.  I was confused on what exactly I was trying to say about my passage. At first I was just summarizing what the passages meant to the book, but that lead me to just have to re-write them. I needed so much help I came and talked to this teacher about it. Then after that I understood what I was doing and that I had all the right elements I just didn't use them in the proper formatting. Instead of searching all through my book to find the perfect quotes I just went on spark notes and looked at their important quotes they had and it worked. I don't know if i can say that or not but that was the honest process.

I'm so good at writing i decided to do a second one

For the Abstracts part of the project, I did that in the same day as close reads of the critics…. that would make sense wouldn't it? Anyways, I thought that was easy because I just thought of it as a summery of what they said, which is exactly what it was so it was easy. The only hard part about that was, If the critic was talking bout a topic for a few paragraphs or so, you I could summarize that is a few sentences so I had to actuarially read a lot of it to get a full page. Which is also okay because that just gives me more information to do the rest of my paper. I also did the citation wrong, which I always do and that frustrates me a lot, because it is just an annoying thing to have to keep doing over and over.

Writing the work 1!

For a good majority of the project I was very confused and what exactly I was writing about because everything we were doing was not like a normal paper I was used to. But it was also easier than I thought also because I could not image trying to write a 30 page paper on a single topic like why is this novel still around today. The first thing I did was close read the critics that I had to go to the library for. That was nice because for the most part I didn't have to write, just comments here and there with underlying and highlighting. That was an all day process though because I didn't pick short criticisms, the three of them took about all day. But it was worth it because I got some good, interesting knowledge about my novel.

OU!!

Going to the library was easy. We (pat and I) went right up the the help center and gave the very nice lady our names and books. She took us right up the the third floor, the silent floor; which was really hard for us. My author had a good chunk of books of so it was pretty easy just to look and grab what I needed to check out. We were there for about 45 minutes and I expected it to be a lot harder but fortunately it was easy.

Reading the book #5

Last chapters

I can say that I was really disappointing on the climax of the book, there was like none. Here I am thinking that there will be a major thing going on but, it was a true disappointment. And I think it is interesting that the author makes Heathcliff not fear death and compares him to the Devil. So I wonder if he is the Devil would Catherine be the angle? It would make scene because they go back and forth throughout the book, which makes me think this book as a way deeper meaning than just a love loss revenge story. Any other thoughts will be in my essay!!

Reading the book #4

21-29

In these chapters it all starts to kinda fall into place. The fact that Nelly was telling stories of recent events just made me mad and happy at the same time because i have been quite confused though the book. During the drama of the book I find it interesting how they compared and told the reader the differences and the similarities between the two generations of Catherine's. it helped me kinda understand a little bit better and know the difference between the two.  But I don't really like what Heathcliff is doing to their children. I get the idea of heartbreak and it sucks that it was because of his money. But that's how it was back them. But picking on children is just terrible.

Reading the book #3

10-19

This is the part of the book where Heathcliff seems almost superhuman because he overcomes everything that was put in his path. But also I get the feeling that he can turn around and stab someone in the back too. I kinda find it cool that the author made one character both the good and the bad guy and one book. The book so far has reminded me of Dorian Gray because the characters have both done bad thing and are looked down apron but still get sympathy for whatever reason. People still have hope for both of these characters and want them to be good.

Reading the book #2

The first quarter of the book starts off with a really confusing plot line. The author makes the narrator into a third and also first person narration of the story. The story is told through many different stories which kinda confused me on the characters. I wonder why she did that, and if it was to make a more complex work of fiction. So I am confused if Heathcliff is a memory, or lost his memory and is now remembering his life before something.  I feel I almost have to read between the lines to understand the novel and I do not like it. I wanted a simple love story but I am finding that this is why there are many criticisms about this book.

From the very beginning of the book I was confused. I had to look up many words begging in the first few chapters, because they are big, unknown, and I didn’t know what they meant. But most importantly I wanted to understand what I was reading. I was rather confused in the beginning because I assumed it was writing from a woman’s perspective, so for a few chapters I had to read over because I guess I didn’t know my book. So it was a struggle in the beginning.

Choosing the Book

My first thought on approaching thins book was: I want to enjoy it. I would rather not have a 600 word book but the length doesn't matter as long as I enjoy the processes. For the most part I tend to read romantic books, or mystery, so typically I asked my fellow teacher for some helpful hints. The two books he gave me were both good choices but what it came down to was that  Wuthering Heights had many reviews I could work with because it is such a classic. I did some research and I liked what I saw, then it became mine.

Remix Meeeee

I know this is not what you want...but o well. If i had to be a remix of anyone it would probably come down to my father. No, it is not just the fact that he helped create me, we are very similar people. Even from when i was young they gave me the nick name "mini me" because i was so much like my dad. I remember a few time on home videos i can even hear my mom tell him how much i am like him. But obviously i am my own person so we have some major differences.  I do not believe that people are exactly alike my any means because each person has a different view of the world, so I do not think it is fair to compare someone to another person, i personally find that really annoying.
