Somethings I will never understand.....

Last year, I was over at my friend Luke's apartment and he mentioned that he wanted to show me a video he found on Youtube. Now Luke is known for a few things amongst all our fellow friends, such as doing everything incredibly slow (especially eating), almost always being late and thinking stupid videos on Youtube are hilarious. So when Luke says that he wants to show me a video he found, my expectations are reset to zero. I reluctantly agree as he's pulling up the page, and there's this guy, sitting in front of a camera in his bedroom, describing how he terrified some dude in a Target bathroom on a Monday. And I laughed my head off! Out of all the crappy videos Luke has ever showed me during our friendship, this was the best one, by far! And from that day on, I started following a Youtuber by the name of Olan Rogers. Fast forward about a year of me watching all of his shorts and stories, following him on all the basic social media sites and even flipping through a few of his old high school videos called BalloonShop, and I see that he has announced that he'll be doing a tour. Basically, he'll be going from city to city and just meeting some of his fans, all for free. And he was coming to Dallas! I thought to myself, "This is awesome! I can actually meet this guy and tell him about how I would watch his videos while I was alone and bored at work. This will be so cool."

I had everything set to meet him. I did the little RSVP thing, I had asked off work about a month in advance, and I found a friend to go with me. It was perfect. Until the week before, when my investment manager had a meeting with us and told us that the old rule of "no Fridays off" was going to start being enforced again (the Dallas date was on a Friday). Even though I had already asked off, my manager couldn't let me go because the investment manager was making a last minute visit to the property so I had to be there. I talked to my friend who was supposed to go with me and she said that she wasn't able to go now too because they scheduled a big meeting with their owners. So basically, I didn't get to go.

No meeting Olan.

No free pizza or Jones soda.

No napkins.

I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and God has everything under control. And for whatever reason, unknown to me, I was not supposed to meet Olan that day. I was really disappointed because everything had lined up perfectly, then my plans were shattered just a few days before zero hour. I'm probably never going to understand why God kept me from going that day, which sucks cause I like to know stuff. But at the end of everything, I have to rely on what I know for a fact; God has my best interest in mind, no matter how crappy the situation turns out.

So maybe, one day in the future, I'll get my chance to meet the Olan Rogers. But alas, that day is not today.
