Designed by Alden B. Dow, the Dr. Harry Towsley Residence is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was designed in 1932 for Mr. Dow’s younger sister, Margaret and her husband Harry.
Mr. Dow designed many university buildings in his lifetime. Pictured below is the University of Michigan Fleming Administration Building, located in Ann Arbor, MI, and designed by Alden B. Dow in 1964.
Designed by Alden B. Dow, the Emry-Kraus Residences were designed in 1959. They are located in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. The Residences are actually two separate homes that are situated next door to each other and share a driveway!

Fun idea! Did you know we've got an original Eames Lounge Chair with Ottoman in the study of the Alden B. Dow Home and Studio? Alden himself even designed furniture, notably a large U-shaped couch in the Game Room.
Alden B. Dow designed a residence for the Barclays, Vada Dow's grandparents, in 1937. The structure is located in Midland, Michigan.

One of the structures out in the Archives this weekend is The Calvin Campbell Residence, located in Midland, Michigan. Mr. Campbell was a longtime friend of Mr. Dow and his residence was designed in 1939. The 5135 square foot house sits on a sloping 1 acre lot adjacent to Dow Gardens!

Autumn at the Home and Studio is something special.
The Lynn Townsend Residence is located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and was designed in 1963. Lynn Townsend served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Chrysler in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Check it out in the Archives this weekend on a tour!
This week in the archives, we featured the Paul Rood Residence located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The structure was designed in 1937 at a cost of $16,566!
Pictured here is the Robbie Robinson Residence located in Grosse Pointe Park, MI. Designed in 1940, it is one of the Unit Block structures that Mr. Dow designed. It was built at the cost of $15,581.
Currently featured in the Archives: The Pardee House
The Pardee House was designed in 1936 and completed in 1937 at the cost of $53,201. It is one of the 13 unit block structures that Mr. Dow designed and built. Mr. Pardee was Chairman of the Board for Dow Chemical Company. Today, the Pardee Residence houses the Gerstacker, Strostacker, Pardee and Allen Foundations.
This weekend, the Harry Towsley Residence will be featured in the Archives. Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, this structure was designed in 1932 for Alden Dow's younger sister, Margaret and her husband, Dr. Harry Towsley. Final cost of the house was $15,400.

The C.W. Bachman residence in East Lansing, Michigan. It was designed in 1936 for Michigan State University's football coach, Charles Bachman, and his family. It is one of Alden B. Dow's famous unit block houses!
