i haven’t posted in ages but like i’m back and i wanna talk abt illicit affairs

i interpret this masterpiece as it being abt an ed, and it causing you to lie so much to yourself and everyone around you and hide your behaviors, while showing the big truth that you’re unhappy with who you are. it makes you a godforsaken mess and an idiotic fool, and (tw??) when you know that you’re sick it still feels fake and instead of being scared of what can happen you become a fool and wish you could be the one people tell stories about. what starts in beautiful rooms ends with meetings in parking lots.

ok that was kinda emotional i’m sorry but anyways that’s my take on illicit affairs!! (not saying that everyone has to think this, or that the song was written to be like this, it’s j how i feel)

when i realized that i loved him i went through taylor's entire discography and made a playlist with every single one of her love songs, because i was so sure it was going to last and i decided to risk it all. i deleted that and have slowly built up one that contains we were happy, champagne problems, the 1, evermore, and basically the entirety of red.

treacherous feels like listening to a time capsule, after everything is over. after you've reflected and realized how "red" the relationship was, you have the chance to go back to before. maybe how you felt before was a warning, but it's mostly just nice to be with him.

also, state of grace. this one song can be so relatable to so many different stories and people and perspectives because of how much it just reveals a core truth that it will always come back to. the game of love, letting go, broken hearts. it's funny that just a few months ago, after forgetting to turn on spotify sleep timer and waking up and hearing 'state of grace- acoustic version' right as the sun was coming in to my room and when i was emotional enough to really reflect, i swore to myself that i would always play the game of love "good and right", and that i would never ever ever let go of him (you come around and the armor falls, etc). now i find myself with a "mosaic broken heart", and "walking fast through the traffic lights" after pulling a getaway car and breaking up with the love of my life for seemingly no reason. it's still hard to listen to this song, but it is my absolute favorite song of all time and once i'm able to again, i know that i'll love it even more. @taylorswift this song is a fucking masterpiece and your words (your lyrics are pure poetry) has really saved me. this song is the most beautiful thing.
