We’re thrilled to announce an additional 2016 ABOG Fellowship, the ABOG-David Rockefeller Fund Joint Fellowship in Criminal Justice! This additional fellowship will be available specifically to artists or artist collectives with projects that address #criminaljustice issues. We’ve now added in specific eligibility criteria for the ABOG-DR Fund Joint Fellowship to the application page of our 2016 open call, and applicants who meet this criteria will AUTOMATICALLY be considered. Individuals and collectives who have already submitted applications that are eligible will also automatically be considered. Watch the trailer for our first season via the link in our bio. ~~~~~~ A short documentary series presented by #ABladeofGrass, FIELDWORKS explores the beauty, rigor, and impact of #sociallyengagedart. Produced by Rava Films and One Hundred Seconds, Season One spotlights ABOG’s Distinguished Fellow, #MelChin, and 2014 ABOG Fellows: #BrettCook, #PabloHelguera, #FranIlich, #JanMun, #SexEd (NoreneLeddy & Liz Slagus), and #JodyWood. The films will premiere at #NightOfAlchemy, our inaugural benefit on Nov. 17th, and will be screened on our website, partnering media channels and at live screenings throughout the country beginning Nov. 18th.

#DreadScott presents his current project, #SlaveRebellionReenactment (SRR), at our Fellowship Workshop at #The8thFloor. SRR is a conceptual community-engaged artwork that will reenact the largest rebellion of enslaved people in American history - Louisiana’s German Coast Uprising of 1811, involving hundreds of re-enactors on the outskirts of #NewOrleans, in the same locations where the 1811 rebellion occurred. #ABOGFellows #abladeofgrass #sociallyengagedart (at The 8th Floor)

#FellowFriday: Pictured here in the San Quentin Media Lab, Shadeed Wallace Stepter works on a story for the #SanQuentinPrisonReport, a collaboration between inmates, ABOG Fellow #NigelPoor, and volunteers, which produces original content from and about the men who live in #SanQuentin. #SQPR participants train in all aspects of audio and radio production to produce intimate stories that are complex and challenge reductive stereotypes, while also providing meaningful work for men who are serving life sentences.
