This kid hopped right into my shoe and proceeded to angrily sing to me when I picked it up.
I have never met such a talkative toad! Usually they just pee on me.
When a male toad is held a certain way they chirp. Why? Because it’s hard for toads to determine the sex of other toads. So if a male is mounted by another male, he chirps to alert him to the fact that babies will not be resulting from this, Uh. Encounter.
Basically that toad is telling you “listen I’m not gonna jump to get away but you should know I contain zero (0) eggs”
“I’m down to pound but jsyk it’s gay”
EMERGENCY: HEDGEHOG ON A TINY CAMPING TRIP?!?!?!!!!! When I saw these pictures from hedgehog_azuki on instagram I was like EXCUSE ME WHAT and now I’m a different, more virtuous person who has been shown the glowing face of humanity’s truest potential and is forever changed by its everbearing gifts. Also it cleared my skin.

Yo reptblr/frogblr has anyone tried the zoo med cans of crickets? I bought some Bc my local store was out of live but IDK what they’re like
haven't tried the zoomed ones, but i've gotten the plastic pre-packaged ones some pet stores make- ya just gotta make sure not all the crickets are dead/actually have proper food in there!!!
that's at least what i've found. i just usually go straight up to the people and be like "gimme my bag o' bugs plz" though
WAIT A MINUTE ARE THESE NOT LIVE? (sorry just re read post)
what are you feeding them to again? i know a toooon of critters can be real picky about eating already dead crickets and if you don't know when the crickets died, you can't really know how much nutrients they still have in them. personally, i never feed my bois dead things unless i know for sure it died within the last day (at most). good luck with your cricket experiment though! it can suck when ya store is outta the Live Fudz™
fish n flower….he is happy 💗
All aboard the dad train! This male horned land frog [Sphenophryne cornuta] carries his offspring to safety in the jungles of New Guinea. Unlike most frogs, the offspring of Sphenophryne cornuta grow by direct development, hatching as tiny versions of adult frogs instead of having a tadpole stage. The male of the pair watches the eggs, and when they hatch he gathers them up on his back and takes them to a less exposed location where they can grow in safety. Image by Michael Pennay.

In remembrance of Toughie
It’s been almost a year since Toughie the last Rabb’s fringe limbed tree frog died. This has got me thinking about how we got to this point, where chytrid is killing off frogs in large amounts, and in many cases to the point of extinction. Toughie may have been just a frog to many, but to me Toughie was a testament to the struggle of many amphibian species worldwide. Toughie was about 12 years old at his death.
You will be missed you beautiful frog friend.
This is exactly what my frog rescue team (www.FrogRescue.com) is working to prevent from happening again! Toughie is a sad reminder that extinction is real and it’s happening right now.
