VC is giving lots of All Tomorrows vibes. Are you familiar perchance? In case not, it's like sci-fi creature world-building to the max, and it's full of both horror and wonder, but like in a really fucked up way. 10/10 recommend if you haven't read it yet (theres also a hella comprehensive YouTube video that covers it all in order)
I'm aware of All Tomorrows, though I haven't looked too much into it. I know the basic premise (forced human species divergence) but it's never been too far in my ballpark.
I usually prefer my spec bio to be at least loosely focused on ecologies (like Subnautica, r.i.p.) and cultures (Runaway to the Stars comes to mind), whereas All Tomorrows seems to like it's plot/history more. Might be wrong on that assumption, though.
I'm willing to try that video, if you'd be willing to share. Hope you're liking Vita Carnis so far.
Adoring it so far, even hubby who's doing raids rn is asking to restart the vids when he's done bc his interest is also piqued.
At the very least, it's a pleasantly narrated video with interesting visuals that's like an hour of your life. While there is the forced evolution aspect, and in hindsight I definitely see what you mean about I being history heavy, it does delve several generations beyond the forced evolution and observed as nature takes its course in the unique environments of each species, which, maybe checks that ecology box? Slightly? You'll be the judge. The illustration is cool though, for sure, can say that confidently.
I'm by no means versed in this sort of genre, so I could be totally recommending something you find boring as shit, but I found it very neat. No pressure to like or even watch it

I see nothing but wonderful little buddies.
I'm so in. I keep getting distracted and haven't googled yet but I'm so frickin interested
All I'm saying is I think if we can make "The Slur Song" top the dance charts while we're here for the queers, I bet we could kick it up the same way for a couple great trans femme musical acts on bandcamp, what if we make it happen for:
ghostdaughter (from our very own tumblr)
and for:
She Killed Sheila (find em on youtube)
Don't make me tag a bunch of people
Obligatory hype for my best friend's band. Angry and/or queer? Red Hot Empty's got you.

About the meat hampster!
They're called "trimmings", and are part of the Vita Carnis analog horror series by Darian Quilloy. They're actually pets in universe!
I know analog horror gets a bad rep from its popularity a couple of years back, but I like it. Vita Carnis is particularly special because it treats it's horror as a part of nature, and sort of with the neutrality that comes with that. Some creatures like trimmings are just animals. Maybe a bit grotesque, but just so.
It does fall into some cliches and issues, it's definitely not a perfect work. But the fact that it engages with speculative biology of all things gives it a unique vibe. Here's the introductory video if you wanted to take a look.
Apologies for the rant, but this series has been etched into my head. Many the source of an nighttime paranoia.
Have a good day/night.
Fan fucking tastic, this is literally the best type of message to receive, thank you! I've actually never heard of 'analog horror' until now (which is wild bc horror movies and novels are half my personality).
I have many a'Google to search after this but I greatly appreciate the keywords and the vid bc I'm super interested. It's giving Dark Souls vibes (from your brief description, at least, haven't watched the link yet which I realize was a fumble but here we are) and I'm so here for it.
Love me a good nighttime terror or two
I have been playing BG3 since early access release. I have over 700 hours logged, most of which is in the first act because I've only actually gotten to BG twice and beat the game once. And yet today I found out you can get to the back of the goblin camp from the bridge near where you meet the githyanki. Just saying... that's how massive this game is.
No but this is so real. I put in well over 500 hours before I found the fish cult.
I've put in around the same hours as op and I've still never even seen minsc on screen. Or the whole Raphael thing (house of hope?)
This game is fucking enormous
I hope you all find who you're supposed to.
I love whatever this skinless hamster thing is, I love it and I need 20
