Hi I was wondering if you were continuing because I really love your edits and I haven't been following for very long so I have yet to see any new posts. Don't rush yourself because I know that what you do will be good and I'm sorry if I seem annoying. I just really like your translations.

Unfortunately, it’s realistic to say that since an official English localization was released, and our lives are generally busy, it’s very unlikely that we’ll continue this project.  That being said, the actual translation work is complete, and transcripts of each chapter with raw video links can be found on the masterlist page.  It’s not as convenient as having the edited videos to watch, but if you would like, you can continue to read my translation alongside the footage I used while translating.

do you know of any playthroughs i could watch together with the translated transcripts?

The beginning of each transcript (and at some points in the middle of each transcript), there should be a link to the corresponding playthrough that I translated from with a time stamp.  If any transcripts are missing this, please let me know so I can fix it!

With the announcements of the new anime and the new game I'm super excited to watch more Danganronpa! Is there a release date for new videos??

We are all very excited to work on translating Dangan Ronpa v3 as well!

For now, our releases are on hold while the winter semester finishes up, after which we intend to work hard and release as much as we can in the short space of winter break.

In the meantime, don’t forget that the translation is all public and available in the form of the transcripts.  I know it’s not as convenient to follow along, but if you want to sate your hype, that might be a good way to do it!

It's been awhile since the last update... you guys still alive?

We are still alive and would love to release more, but unfortunately we are all one or more of the following:

studying abroad in Japan, very busy with college, struggling very hard to make ends meet

We’re trying, but we have lots of things to worry about right now, so unfortunately this project cannot be our top priority.

In light of the recent news, I feel it relevant to say that I very much intend to translate Dangan Ronpa 3, though it will be much slower as that’s the kind of game I will need to play through fully before beginning to translate for consumption.

If at all possible, I will record screenshots for that one myself so that the content will be under our own control and we won’t have to rely on someone else’s.  It will most likely be a screenshot translation like that of the previous two games in the series unless more people step up to help with subbing because even the amount of text in AE has been quite daunting for the number of people we have.

Of course this isn’t going to happen for a while, but we can all look forward to it together!

ahh well i think i figured it out, but there was a note that referred to "taka"? but i found the japanese version and it also used taka and not the same kanji as kiyotaka's name.

I do vaguely remember one of the notes having something about a ‘Taka”, but the name shortnenings in the english dangan ronpa release were entirely fabricated in that release, so it wouldn’t appear in a note in this game in the Japanese, nor in my translation because the shortnenings seriously peeved me. Sorry!

Stuff was removed from the English version? Like what?

When I say removed, I only mean single lines of dialogue here and there.  I haven’t seen this firsthand, I’ve only heard from the subbers, so i can’t give examples, but yo Petra if you see this and want to add something edit it in/reblog this ask?

Naturally nothing essential to plot or character development was removed to the best of my knowledge, just small bits that were hard to translate or were thought to be unnecessary I guess?

The only ones I was really able to catch on to and remember how Addison translated it were jokes here and there. For example,

Addison’s translation: “If you’re tired, then it’s okay to express my own fatigue, right? Deadxhausted? Comatired? I need to invent new expressions for it.”

NISA’s translation: “You think *you’re* tired? If you’re tired, I don’t even have a word for how tired I am. I need a new onomatopoeia to express the sheer tiredness...”

Someone responded with an example they found;

kuroinekomimix said: I finished the game last night and the dialogue mentioning Komaru’s ahoge being her charm point was taken out. I was really disappointed. :/

As much as I would love to go back and compare them word for word, I simply do not have the time for that. Everyone can submit examples if they want though.

is there any way you can give a list of all the notes you can find in dangan ronpa another episode? there's a note i'm particularly interested in from the english translation, but i don't know if it's present in the japanese version (and therefore canon) and, if it is, what it says/how it differs from the english version.

I wasn’t aware of any content that was added in the English version (though I do know that bits of content were removed here and there), but if you describe the content of the note, I might be able to find what you’re talking about.

this may be a VERY stupid question, but will you show any other games like this one?

The answer is...we aren’t sure. This project has been exciting and rewarding, but we also all have plenty of other activities on our plates. If we do, the lineup of the group might not be exactly the same. Still, I think it would be fun!

when do you think is the estimated time you think you'll be finished with the entire thing?

Well, we have already translated the entire game - the google docs with the written translation are linked on this blog. However, if you’re talking about the subbed videos, it’s an uncertain question. Since we’re all doing this in our spare time, our progress rate depends on how busy we are with work/school/etc. 

We’re partway into Chapter 4, out of 5 (plus a 1-video epilogue), but the progress rate is unpredictable. We initially aimed to finish before the English release (September 1st 2015), but that isn’t going to happen at this point. We’ll likely continue releasing videos until we’re done, which might be around the end of this year or early next year.

Thank you so much for the episodes! But I want to know something: It's 5 chapters in total, isn't it? How many parts will each chapter have? (chapter 1 and 3 has 5 parts each and chapter 2 has 7 parts)

You’re welcome!

The length of each video isn’t planned out prior to the actual video editing stage, so I don’t really know. Somewhere around 5 to 7 parts, I suppose.

I edit each video to be around 30 minutes in length - tops, and it involves patching together game play from two sources. It can take up to 5 hours just to put together game play clips with no actual translation/effects/dialogue added in (for a single part.) Thus, I don’t have a lot of time to work ahead of the part that is due.
