there will never be anything as funny as the mutual disbelief between long form and short form fic writers about each other's style.

short form writers look at people writing 100k+ fics as though this is some sort of talent given as part of a fae bargain, that the commitment required shows some sort of ungodly mental fortitude.

meanwhile long form writers look at people writing 1000 word one shots like god I would cut off my left nipple to be able to say anything concisely. i would love to play with multiple ideas. free me from the shackles of this child I have birthed. i love them but I now must take them to t-ball and doctor's appointments and they're going to destroy everything I own.

Summary :- 24 year old Wen Kexing had always considered himself as someone blessed with extraordinary luck. He had a satisfying life, good friends who supported him, and a rather normal and uncomplicated level of peace—as though he was being protected by the karmic benefits of some past lived as a philanthropist. However, all of that came crashing the night he turned 25. It started with a sudden downpour. A stranger’s face on a chaotic street, a rush of phantom grief, and a memory he wasn't quite sure didn't belong to him, painting his hands in blood he could never wash away. Alternatively, 5 times Wen Kexing comes face to face with the ghosts of a life left behind and the 1 time someone looks at him like he might be one himself.

a Yami No Matsuei AU / the 200th fic by LipstickDaddy on AO3

Summary: Lee Dongsik has been the Ministry of Heavenly Affairs Irregular Deaths Department’s best Jeoseung Saja for as long as anyone can remember; he has the highest close rate for the even the strangest cases of unnatural deaths out of anyone in his department. But he can't keep a partner to save his life —a figure of speech: Jeoseung Saja are immortal spirits— until the Lord Nam pairs him up with Han Joowon, a recently deceased young man who refuses to speak about why he’s come to the ministry. They butt heads instantly, despite Dongsik's efforts to get close to the strange, sullen youth. When they're faced with the greatest, gravest evil either has ever known, though, their partnership gets truly put to the test. Will they survive it?

Notes: This is a Shinigami (KR equivalent: Jeoseung Saja) AU based on the anime/manga Yami No Matsuei, which you can check out here. The anime intro is here, please check it out! The two main characters even kinda look like Joowon and Dongsik ^_~ I think my tagged warnings are pretty complete, but at the start of each chapter I'll add additional, more specific warnings in the notes.
