Thinking about basic enemies in games. Like waddle dees. Do nothing but set the baseline of what character behaviour and interaction look like in a given game. Platonic ideal of 'just a normal girl'. Tried drawing up some sketches of initial concept of generic basic game world girl. Please take a look...:

Don't know what I'm calling these girls yet. Anyone reading this may suggest a name. Otherwise, the placeholder name is Potatoes. The above image is an instance of one Potato.

What do we think? I like them. When I do them in colour, they'll probly come in varieties of colours, like yoshis.

Well, waddle dees come in different colours sometimes but reddish orange is obviously the 'correct' colour.

And Moos. Moos from Klonoa. Those came in different colours. but I think green was specifically for flying and blue was stronger than red? Potatoes will come in different colours just naturally and not signifying of rank. Like yoshis.

And you know, drawing these was funny. I normally hate cartoon characters who are depicted "blinking" with their eyelids open and their eye pupils collapsing. I always thought it was a cartoon logic too far! Better to just draw the eyelid. But when I were drawing these girls, I felt it just made sense to do em like this? I donno, maybe I'll colour in some eyelids when I do them in colour! lol
