Painful Travels
By this time next week I'll be fast asleep prepping for my hike back up to reality. I'm embarking on my first backpacking trip of the year and I'm quite a bit frightful of this voyage. Why? I have yet to discover a way to balance my work hours with my free time hours with my sleep. Work consumes my new life here in Colorado and finding time to take that morning run has proven to be difficult. I have hopes that my sleep schedule will even out and my body will be able to fully absorb the energy that the rising sun expels, enough to get me out of bed and onto road. With that said, I feel like it's going to be one helluva challenge physically for me to do this trip.
We'll hiking along a river, but will not be able to consume the water, even with water filters. Weird right?! What does that mean? Well, it merely means that I'll have to carry in my pack ALL of the water I'll need to survive for 3 days in 90° heat. Easy enough right?! Goodness, help me. I'll definitely and gladly accept any and all sorts of prayers and good vibes, for my injured back, my old lady knees, my chubby girl lungs and to not die of dehydration. I am currently looking to carry 10L of water down with me, the water alone accounts for approximately 24lbs.
There's no doubt in my mind that I will absolutely enjoy this trip, but I'm also certain that it'll be a painful voyage as well.
