AGENT DALE COOPER. HAVE I GOT A NEW CASE FOR YOU. A PLACE CALLED TITUSVILLE. GREAT PIES, COOP, GREAT PIES. ANYHOW, THE TOWN'S GOT A THEME TO IT, BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. THERE'S A GIRL WHOSE MOTHER JUST DIED WHO IS HAUNTED BY GHOSTS AND HER KITCHEN JUST BLEW UP. TURNS OUT HER GUARDIAN WAS A FRAUD. NEIGHBOR'S A PSYCHIC. THE KIDS EAT PINECONES. LOTS OF SUSPECTS, COOP. THE CASE IS A MISSING CAMP COUNSELOR. YOU'RE THE PERFECT MAN FOR THE JOB. MIGHT HAVE TO RUN A FEW ERRANDS AND TALK TO A FEW FOLKS. THE FELLAS DOWN AT QUANTICO SAY THE TOWN IS A PIECE OF WORK. LIVE LIKE IT'S THE NINETEEN-THIRTIES. REALLY WEIRD STUFF. YOU SHOULD FIT RIGHT IN, COOP.

Some more from one of my all time favorite ND games! Just love all the characters and the story (though it is a bit corny... still hits me in the feels a bit). But there's no horse bc I didn't have it in me to paint a horse, I'm sorry 😢
And also... you can collect more eggs than that, Nancy!
You said you didn't want SEA's villain to be Soren, but you didn't say who it should be instead.
I really don’t know who I would want it to be though. I like Dagney and Gunther too much for it to be them. Making it Elizabet seems mean and Magnus makes no sense. Soren feels like a “well we needed someone to be the culprit” and it’s not fair because he was being ostracized by the entire community and not once did they get punished/reprimand for their behaviour. I felt this was a game where they shouldn’t have a sole culprit but blame a town for its prejudice way.
True, true. Maybe it could be Alex Trang. Her negligence at her coms job endangered Magnus’s landing the ship somehow so she kept doing worse and worse things to cover up her mistake, resulting in kidnapping Magnus (with no interest or knowledge of the treasure).
Oooh that would have been so interesting! For the first time a culprit would have been a phone call. Omg, this has so much potential!
Now I’m interested in playing it out. Port patrol intern Alex Trang is an overworked grad student in maritime psychology. She proceeded to sleep through the training videos of her job, doesn’t fill out the ship logs for port traffic, and uses most of her cubicle-based time to update her blog on ship facts. Magnus is making frequent trips through the harbor both as a hired sailor and his treasure hunting hobby. The two of them talk over the radio together and form a friendship. The Heerlijkheid finishes construction and is ready to sail for the festival. BUT Alex never wanted to leave her toasty cubicle so she neglected to repair the broken lighthouse in a harbor that is dark even in the daytime. So Magnus loses his bearings and crashes the ship into the shoreline. Alex knows she fucked up and is terrified of getting any blame. Magnus hit his head in the crash and first responders decided the best transport to a nearby hospital was via boat. Lucky for Alex because now she can keep the boat far away from the harbor by either scrambling the radio signals or calling in false flags to the ports or the boat itself that means they can’t dock and have to keep moving. By this time no one knows where Magnus is anymore. Dagny gets suspicious that she’s been double-crossed and calls in Nancy to track down Magnus.
When Nancy calls Alex on the radio, Alex makes up a story about hearing Magnus being attacked before the ship crashed. She sees an opportunity to get the lighthouse repaired by sending Nancy and then once it’s fixed, Alex opens the windows. She’s not trying to kill Nancy, only hospitalize her with hypothermia and then she can claim the lighthouse is faulty if it keeps turning off and randomly opening the windows like that. Thus, not her fault Magnus crashed. But Nancy escapes and could testify that’s not what happened, the windows were deliberately opened, so Alex has got to keep trying to cover her tracks.
Meanwhile the town is getting suspicious of Soren. He’s the one who brought back the festival to include the ship, he’s friends with Dagny (the other outsider), and they’re intensely prejudiced against him anyway. This could be the ticking clock. You’ve got to find Magnus before Soren finds himself up against an angry mob. And at the end, everyone learns a lesson about how unfairly they treated Soren - not just this occasion but all his life.
And in all her investigating, Nancy did find the path to the lost treasure, but she turns the final journal pages over to Magnus and tells him to bring along Elisabet who can sing her family song and they unlock the chest together.
OH MY GOD!!!!!
Yes to all of this! It’s so brilliant! A culprit who was just tying to cover up their mistakes and how it escalated to harming Nancy. Nancy thinking of who it could possibly be because there’s not enough evidence to pin it on Alex, but at the same time there’s too much coincidence!
And the idea of a timed story where history gets repeated again with Soren is amazing. One thing that annoyed me about the game was the way they depicted Elizabet as someone who tried to be friendly to Soren but couldn’t go against the town, as if she’s still a good person despite contributing to soren’s isolation. She was doing exactly what people did to her ancestors, and that always annoyed me. But in your version she has the opportunity to defend Soren and Gunther begrudgingly assists her!
Some Nancy Drew portraits I did as practice 🤧
I did it in a Disco inspired style cause I wanted to go fckin crazy and just paint with no sketching. Plus, I wanted practice in drawing a more diverse cast than just like… hot woman, and figured Nancy Drew might be good practice. Next I wanna do Shadow Ranch 🤠
Oh, and… WHALES RULE!!
I wanna do some screenshot redraws of the games, figured I should start with the iconic Lori Girard.

easily the best entry from intern Pete's blog
Thinking about the gold mine of dynamics at the Canute farmhouse... you have the grumpiest most disillusioned man that ever lived, the snarky Type-A project manager, a pompous self-obsessed cartoon of a man, and your typical homegrown southern boy mechanic.
Then there's the actual relationships these people have. None of them are exactly friends but they all just choose to be amused at their colleagues' quirks since they're forced to exist here together anyway. Chase and Frosty canonically don't "get" each other, yet they're swapping USB drives like that's a Normal Thing To Do. Scott apologizes to Nancy with his tail between his legs after getting a stern talking to from Debbie offscreen -- which implies that Debbie has some kind of authoritative pull over him, even though he's the boss? lmao?? The way they all just tell the new girl to deliver their shit to each other rather than walking 8 feet to do it themselves. Frosty's goofy-ass fear of mice and Scott's deadpan "Yes, that was Frosty." (this is nothing new). Chase literally stealing from Pa's museum yet talking shit about everyone else, albeit in the most polite and apologetic way possible. Frosty's pathological need to impress Scott even though he can't stand the man. For some reason we learn that Debbie loves live theatre? Her, Chase, and Frosty all go to the theater together? Scott is allergic to cats? Debbie goes to bed at like 4 in the afternoon and insists that Nancy do the same? Every single member of Scott's team hates cheese candy (at least in lieu of regular candy)? Also, their collective hivemind in gaslighting the intern with fierce insistence over a broken camera? Like, idk, there's so much there for absolutely no reason 😂
They've been my favorite cast since I wrote a TOT AE in like 2013 or so. They're just so fuckin weird and Shaped 😂

The entire intro to Scarlet Hand is so weird. The way Joanna's animated, the way she talks, Nancy's Maya 101 questions, all the lights being off but one, Joanna's weird joke about selling her grandmother... It's all so deeply strange.
