I know this is going to make me sound pretensions but I have to get it off my chest. I feel an unimaginable rage when someone posts a photo and is like “this picture looks like a renaissance painting lol” when the photo clearly has the lighting, colors and composition of a baroque or romantic painting. There are differences in these styles and those differences are important and labeling every “classical” looking painting as renaissance is annoying and upsetting to me. And anytime I come across one of those posts I have to put down my phone and go take a walk because they make me so mad

In case you’re curious here’s what I mean.

Renaissance(distinct lines, stability and the individual man):

Baroque (bold, chaotic, dramatic):

Romantic(romanticize the simple hard working life):

Do you see the difference?

If you’d tried to show me actual classical paintings to describe the difference between renaissance, baroque and romantic, I’d have left the conversation none the wiser. But I ACTUALLY DO understand the different vibes of these photos and I can connect them to memories I have of different art I’ve seen in my life. I wish more people understood that a person will understand what you’re saying if you use terms on their level, not yours.

Ok so I feel ppl have asked this question before, but I asked it on Discord and got some good responses so I’m asking it here:

Imagine if all Star Wars movies were rated PG-13 and were therefore allowed one (1) F-bomb per movie.  WHO says The Fuck Word in each movie and when?

For me I think I’m going with:

The Phantom Menace— Padmé. Not exactly sure WHEN she says it, but she deserves to say it so she says it and Qui Gon gives her a startled but approving side eye

Attack Of The Clones— Obi Wan. Honestly, Obi Wan deserves to say MULTIPLE fucks in this movie, at least one per every fight he gets into. But if I had to choose a particular instance, I’d replace the line where he goes “oh, not good” with just a single, solid, “Fuck” said with emphasis

Revenge Of The Sith— Hmm I’m not too sure about this one, but I really think it would be funny if Sidious said it. Particularly, @mayfriend took me out by suggesting old Sheevy going “I am the fucking Senate” and ngl that sounds epic

Solo— I feel this would be the movie with the most fucks said, and honestly, I’ll give it to Chewie and Han. No, listen, it’ll work, so they’re fighting their way out of Kessel and Chewie grabs a guy and roars in his face. The guy is like “huh?” and then Han just goes “HE SAYS FUCK YOU”

Rogue One— Another one where I think many people would swear, but this one I’m giving to K2. Just another single, solid, “Fuck” said with emphasis at some point where he has to do something he really doesn’t want to

A New Hope— Leia deserves to say it throughout the whole movie, tbh. Leia should say Fuck You to Vader. Leia should say Fuck You to Tarkin. She should say it to everyone

The Empire Strikes Back— Leia again. Some point when she’s argue-flirting with Han, or she says it while she’s escaping and rescuing Luke on Bespin

Return Of The Jedi— I really wanna give it to Leia for a third time because she absolutely deserves to call Jabba a motherfucker when she’s strangling him and deserves to say it again when she’s shot at the end. But this one I’m torn on because it would also be really funny to give it to Vader so he can just say “FUCK” in that moment when he realizes he can’t let his son die and has to throw his boss down a hole.

The Force Awakens— I’m torn on this one, between LET FINN SAY FUCK at like any opportunity, but there’s also the opportunity to give it to Han and let him say “That’s not how the fucking Force works”

The Last Jedi— Now in THIS ONE, there’s really no other option but to let Finn say Fuck You to Phasma

The Rise Of Skywalker— 3PO after getting rebooted because it would be the funniest thing in the movie and possibly all of Star Wars and R2 would flip. Either that, or give it to Rey and she can say Fuck You to Palpatine. OR give it to Hux when Finn shoots him.

My working theory is that any time a Star Wars character says “Oh no”, they are actually saying “Oh fuck”. I wrote Padmé saying “Oh fuck” in Queen’s Shadow by accident, and editorial changed it to “Oh no”, so I am taking it as canon.
