Listen, I am late to the Misfits and Magic 2 talk--but I finished the series today. And I have to say that Aabria is one of my favorite GM's.

I love the humor, haha, funny seasons with Brennan which are plot heavy and thoughtful, but something about Aabria's style that is full of leading questions, gentle nudges, and emotional confrontation is down right delicious.

She does not let her players deflect with comedy--she let's the beat play, has the laugh, and then asks "but what are you actually feeling?" And when her players rise to that challenge, it is a thing of beauty (and magic).

Her seasons are cerebral and vibes and poignant--but they stick with me and force me to confront myself--and to me that is my highest praise for art.

And now I need to lie down and reflect on how I participate in my various communities...

starting HRT doesn't have to be a huge momentous all-or-nothing decision. you can just try it like you would an antidepressant you've been informed of the risks of.

there won't be any immediate irreversible changes overnight. you can always stop, change your dose, change your delivery system, decide it's not the right time. you can even microdose if you want to.

you don't have to tell anyone. you don't have to announce it if you don't want to.

stop waiting for a perfect time in your life because it won't come.

stop waiting to reach a mythical level of certainty that never comes to anyone, for anything.

you've been thinking about it long enough. if you have the opportunity, just give it a shot. you're worth the courage it takes to make a change in your life.

Just an update on where all the Bad Kids are at as of Episode 3. Roughly in order from least to most fucked, as I see it (rankings highly debatable and likely to change as things unfold.)

Riz cannot afford to pay for college, but is in a pretty good position to get scholarships, at least for himself; he is very worried about keeping his party together.

Fabian is Unsupervised. He cannot figure out how his Fantasy SmartHome works, though it’s likely he will pick it up with time. He has double-majored in two physically demanding classes (Fighter and Dance Bard) and is also committed to being Captain of the Bloodrush team. He also volunteered his home to be the Party House for the cool kids this year, even though any amount of partying is likely to put problematic levels of strain on his body.

Gorgug’s van is fucked. He is not being permitted to double major in Barbarian and Artificer at school and may be forced to choose one or the other. His parents are involved with a local music festival that seems to have encountered significant legal and financial challenges; it seems likely they have either been embezzled from or accused of embezzlement themselves.

Adaine also cannot afford to pay for college, and additionally cannot afford the material components to perform the spells for her Wizard classes, which include things like several barrels of diamonds.

Fig is on the verge of being expelled because she won’t attend her classes. Her sophomore album is late and she owes her record label a significant amount of money. There is some kind of curdled darkness within her that seems to have given her Gilear’s luck. Also, she is wanted by the FBI. Kristen is on the verge of being expelled because she let her previous god die and failed sophomore year. Her abusive parents are back in her orbit via her little brother being at school. Her current god is suuuuuper pissed at her, so pissed in fact that she brought back last season’s Big Bad. She has decided this would be a good time to run for Class President.

Brennan's threat dropped mid-episode actually terrifies me: if one of the bad kids leaves the party the rest of the party becomes pass/fail and all extra-curricular activies no longer count!?

The parties initial concerns were about party members dying. But Brennan emphasizing that if status at Augefort changes that would also count is so much more likely based on decisions made so far.

So one of this year's big bads is essentially a group project from hell. Except the project is ensuring no one fails out of school or gets arrested or kills their God or buckles under the pressure. Because if any of your friends need a break to catch their breath--none of you can go to college! Huzzah!
