quick babble ! seeing as i’m not seeing any right now, i’m gonna tweak yato in that he isn’t necessarily tied to hiyori as much as he is in the anime and manga. maybe a harmless crush, but not the whole “our fates are intertwined and my entire purpose is to make your life happy” even though they’re made for each other. i’m also debating just making a yukine a npc in some of my posts --- but i guess that’ll only become a real issue once i start having combat threads, because he can’t exactly fight without his regalia. anyways, if i don’t get to replies tonight, i will tomorrow !

✩°.࿐                  previously, yato, with an ego that could not have been any more inflated, was certain that the woman had been staring at him while he was doing graffiti for his wishing service engaging in the admiration of public art. okay, maybe not so certain ... okay, it could have just been a glance.

okay, it could have just been the lighting in the alley. 

in any case, his confidence is certainly punctured upon the remark she leaves hanging between them. he can almost feel his very essence shriveling, and it is certainly reflected in the way his posture and expression sag. ‘ that’s so rude ! ’ granted, yato’s previous statement was no accolade, but it’s different when people are mean to him.

✩°.࿐                  ‘ listen, kid. take it down a notch. if i hadn’t stepped in, you’d be seeing stars currently. ’ of course yato is a strong proponent of standing up to those who try to put you down, though he believes one sees better results if you let people fight their own battles. however, when the previously stoic boy before him jumped in between the victim and his bullies, all sharp tongue and blazing eyes, he knew he had to intervene.  ‘ i only said that because he looked like he had it handled. ’ it’s true, too. the god had sensed no sense of wavering in the victim --- most likely he was new, and was used to fending off school tormentors. phantoms wouldn’t dare touch him.

there is a pause before he resumes with a sigh, ‘ sorry if i stole your thunder, or whatever. but it looks like you’re those guys’ new target anyway, so i guess you achieved something. ren, right ? ’ he had caught the name amidst the flurry of cursing tossed at the male. ‘ take a breath, ren. ’

✩°.࿐                  yato is an image of confusion, from the dazed glaze in his eyes to the half-parted mouth from which no sound came -- the latter part doesn’t last long, obviously. ‘ i ... hope you’re joking. ’ once he finally remembers how to speak, judgement kicks in almost instantly.
