Me: Cait Sith's inclusion in watching the Sector 7 plate falling and his subsequent reaction to it (guilt/anger/despair) provides much needed context to one of the weirdest characters in the whole of FF7. As a reflection of Reeve who is powerless in the face of Shinra's most horrible transgression against not only the people of Midgar but to Reeve himself as the Director of Urban Planning, it makes the scene poignant and sets him and Cait Sith up to having a more personal drive in the narrative in later installments.

Also me: The idea of the average gamer going into FF7 blind with no context to who Cait Sith is and having to watch this Disney-ass lookin cartoon plush toy punch the ground angstily with his tiny mickey mouse gloved fist as the whole of sector 7 burns behind him to the swelling crescendo of a gorgeous OST at the most pivotal points in the entire game and wondering what the fuck that was about is peak comedy.
