Hey everyone 👋 Seeing that most of y'all want to know a few facts about me, I'm making a short intro post to introduce myself.
I go by the nicknames Mega (based on my first username on fanfiction.net) or Marybel. My pronouns are she/her. I started writing fanfiction in primary school and haven't stopped since then. I also improved my drawing skills since then (well... I'm trying).
I'm a vegetarian for ethical reasons, identify as asexual, are in my mid to late twenties and English isn't my native language.
I used to love anime and manga a lot when I was a teenager. Nowadays I still like a few, but my hyperfixation isn't as big as it used to be. I like a few TV series, though I prefer older ones. My main fandom at the moment is Star Trek (mainly AOS). Scones for the win! ❤️💙
I love singing, drawing, reading and writing and a big dream of mine is to publish a novel (or a series of novels) one day.
I write a lot of fanfictions just by myself, but most of the greatest are co-written with my awesome partner-author @thesconesyard (The To Light-Series, Against All Odds + In Our Favor) with her writing McCoy and me writing Scotty ❤️💙
Feel free to ask me stuff (just DM me or send in an ask).
I hope that you'll enjoy the time you spend on my blog 🫶💚🫂

So, I started watching Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (because I really need to see that version of Scotty!) and up until now I have to admit that I like it. I love that version of Uhura ❤️ (like… the second episode really got me!) and I love that M’Benga’s character gets well-deserved attention 💙 (don’t get me wrong, I love McCoy, but I always wanted to know about/see more of M’Benga). And I really enjoy some of the original characters like Hemmer and Ortegas.

McCoy hadn’t been able to stop himself from thinking about his flight test all morning. He hadn’t heard a word that had been said in any of his classes. He hoped he could send a message to some of his classmates and make sure he had written down the right things for homework.
Before he realized it, his feet had taken him to the shuttle hangar. In his chest, his heart began to pound. At his side, his hand not carrying his PADD and books began to tremble.
A moment later McCoy startled as soft fingers grabbed hold of his. He glanced over in surprise to see Cora smiling gently at him. She squeezed his hand.
“You’re going to do great, I know it.”
With his mouth dry, he nodded at her. She pulled him along to where Keenser was standing beside Lt. Flores. He was looking around to make sure all of his students were present before giving them the assignment of the day.
“When your console functions you are free to go,” Flores told the other cadets. “Good luck.”
He turned to look at McCoy, Keenser and Cora.
“Are we all ready?” he asked.
Keenser nodded while Cora gave an enthusiastic “yes!”
Flores reached up and put a hand on McCoy's shoulder. “You’re going to do alright.”
McCoy sat behind Lt. Flores and his fingers clenched around the armrests of his seat. They had decided they would keep their normal order from the simulator, meaning McCoy would fly second.
He forced himself to take a deep breath. He released it slowly, then made himself let go of the seat. Another deep breath. In front of him Flores gave directions to Keenser. His small hands moved across the control board as if he had done it every day for years. McCoy watched, his own hands twitching as if they were making the movements.
A quick roar of the engine, a bump, and Keenser had them in the air. McCoy’s heart jumped to his throat, but he forced down his panic. Keenser had been interested in shuttles just as long as Scotty.
Scotty.
McCoy’s panic began to recede. He could almost hear the Gaelic encouragement he knew his husband would be giving him. He had to pass for Scotty. So they could be assigned to a ship together. McCoy would not be left behind. He let out another deep breath. He would pass. He would hold it together, grit his teeth and pass this damn flight exam if he never did another worthwhile thing in his life.
They were in a familiar clearing. Flores had given Keenser many directions, but all had led them south to where Flores had taken them before when they had been the first to finish a task and had been rewarded with a flight in a new shuttle.
Keenser’s hands flew across the controls as he shut down the shuttle.
“Excellent,” Flores said. He turned in his seat. “Who’s next?”
Cora gave McCoy a questioning look.
“Me,” he squeaked. He cleared his throat. “Me,” he said again in his normal voice.
Quickly, he and Keenser switched seats.
McCoy looked at the control in terror. His chest began to move faster and faster. He jumped at Flores’ hand on his arm.
“Breath Leonard. You’re a good pilot. Remember that. Remember why you’re doing this.”
McCoy nodded and got his breathing under control.
“When you’re ready, start us up, then lift off, take us up 100 meters and head east.”
For Scotty. For Scotty. For Scotty.
The words repeated as a mantra in McCoy’s mind. His fingers moved- not quick like Keenser’s- but steady. He paused to collect himself once more.
“Nothing can happen,” Flores said quietly. “I have my controls right here.” He tapped a finger lightly on the panel in front of himself.
McCoy gave him a brief smile, then moved his hands and they were in the air. Something loosened in his shoulders. His eyes were steady on the rising altitude on the display. 50… 75… 90… almost there… 100.
“East,” he thought to himself. Not completely steadily, he turned the shuttle to face the right direction.
“Five kilometers east, then take us up to 1500 meters,” Flores said.
McCoy entered their dorm room. He was exhausted.
Scotty was at his desk and whipped around to face him when he heard the door. McCoy could see the eagerness fighting with worry on his face.
“Well?”
McCoy fought to keep his face neutral, but couldn’t help breaking into a grin.
“I passed!” he exclaimed happily.
Part 736
Scotty
“Ye passed?” Scotty didn’t mean for his voice to be filled with disbelief – after all, he’d had a whole lot of faith in his husband’s abilities – but he was just happily surprised.
Quickly, he jumped up from his seat and flung his arms around Leonard’s neck. A wide grin spread across his face.
“Ye passed! Of course ye passed! Oh, I’m so happy for ye, mo ghràdh! Congrats!”
Leonard was laughing too as he tightened his grip on Scotty.
“All thanks to you, leannan,” he whispered into the Scotsman’s ear, running a hand through his hair. “Thinking of you gave me the calmness I needed.”
“Nae, nae, nae.” Scotty let go of his husband and cupped the prince’s cheeks with both hands. “Ye had it in ye all along. Because ye are an amazing pilot, Len. I knew ye could do it.”
With that, Scotty leaned forward and kissed his counterpart.
“Now, let’s get into town and celebrate yer success. I already booked a table for two.”
“It’s a pity that we don’t celebrate with our friends. I mean, it’s awesome to be here – just you and me – but Keenser and Cora passed too. I’d love to celebrate with them,” Leonard said thoughtfully as the two of them were eating.
Scotty had chosen the small Chinese restaurant they had been to a few times. It was one of the coziest and loveliest places in town. Perfect for a candlelight dinner for two.
“Maybe we can go out to party with all our friends tomorrow. I’m sure the movie night can wait a week,” Scotty replied, smiling gently.
Leonard frowned.
“Party. At a club,” he said slowly and Scotty nodded. He reached over the table to grab and squeeze his husband’s hand.
“Aye. I think we’re ready, aren’t we?”
They looked at each other for a long, silent moment until Leonard eventually smiled and nodded, too.
“Yeah. Yeah, I think so.”
It had been quite some time since their last night out at a club. The last time had ended in a most horrible way with Leah, Robbie and Andre getting severely injured in an attack. The friends hadn’t gone out to party since that event, instead doing their regular movie nights.
“Let’s suggest it to the others tomorrow morning, shall we?”
Leonard smiled.
“Sounds good. But for now, we’ll enjoy the time alone together. I sure hope for a nice dessert after dinner,“ he replied, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively and Scotty laughed.
“Aye, well, they have great ice cream here,” he joked and his husband pouted.
“Nah, I don’t want something cold. I was thinking about… something hot.”
“Oh, they have lava cake, too. It’s great, let me tell ye.”
“You’re not going to take this serious, are you?”
At that, Scotty grinned cheekily.
“Wait until we get back to our room and I’ll show ye just how serious I can take things,” he whispered and laughed when Leonard’s cheeks started to blush.
Leonard was going to get his dessert. Soon enough.
They had been lucky enough to find a cave in the jungle, protecting them from the heavy rain outside, but it appeared to be nearly impossible to make a fire.
Leo “2Dads” Kosov-Meyer was trying his best to set the wood he had gathered on fire, but the sound of him swearing showed Robert it wasn’t working.
However, it wasn’t just the cold making his body tremble. Robert looked down at his injured, bleeding foot. It looked awful.
A shaky sigh left the man’s mouth as he remembered how it had happened.
2Dads and him had been on a team building exercise on an island. The captain had ordered them to work together, after the two of them had been fighting again.
They had strolled through the jungle, searching for a good place to camp—arguing about their ideas, of course—when it happened.
Ro hadn’t looked where he was going and a moment later screamed out in pain as he fell to the ground.
A foothold trap!
It had been the most painful experience, when 2Dads had somehow managed to open the trap with a knife.
“I sure hope whoever set up the trap won’t find us,” Robert slurred.
Bad memories came to his mind of the time when Dutchy, Bird, 2Dads, and him had been hunted by maniacs. He sure didn’t want to live through something like that again.
His crew mate glanced over his shoulder.
“Don’t worry about that, Ro. I’ll take care of them.”
The dark haired man couldn’t help but chuckle humorously, shaking his head at the statement.
“Sure. ‘Cause you are a hero.”
2Dads sent him a smile, before he turned his attention back to the fire.
“Sure am.”
Robert pulled the blankets wrapped around his body closer. Leo had told him to take off the soaked clothes, except for the underwear, and had handed him both of the emergency blankets.
“This stupid wood is just too wet! I can’t get a fire on!” 2Dads sighed heavily and sat down next to Ro. “I’m sorry, mate.”
The radio officer simply nodded.
“No need to apologize. I didn’t believe in you anyway.”
Leo chuckled humorously.
“Wow, brutally honest as always, eh Ro?”
Robert didn’t answer. His eyelids felt heavy and he wasn’t up for arguing. Eventually though, he spoke up again.
“You should go.”
A frown crossed 2Dads’ face as he shook his head in confusion.
“What?”
“You should leave me here and get to the shore. Then the others will find you and you can get help.”
“No way! I won’t leave you. You’re an idiot if you believe I will just leave you hanging!”
Robert huffed.
“Well, you better do. What good does it do us if we’re both stuck here?” He turned his head to look at the man next to him, but it was hard to keep his eyes open and focused.
“What good does it— Man! Robert! I need to take care of you! We are crew mates! I need to make sure you don’t die in this cave!”
“And how do you intend to help me?”
“I—“ 2Dads fell silent. He blinked a few times, then sighed.
“See?”
“I don’t know, okay?! But I certainly won’t just leave you.” He paused once again. “As soon as the rain stops, I’ll carry you to the shore,” he eventually said determinedly.
“Ha,” Ro let out a humorless laugh. “I’d love to see you try.”
“You really are one of a kind, Ro. I’m trying to help you and you are as blunt as always!” He heard Leo ranting about his ungrateful behavior, but the voice sounded far away.
And eventually, Robert couldn’t hear it any more. 2Dads’ voice just vanished into thin air. But so did the pain in his foot. And his consciousness.
~
When he opened his eyes again, Robert was back aboard the ship. Relief mixed with confusion and as he moved his head to look around, he found a familiar person sitting next to him.
“Good morning, sunshine.”
2Dads was grinning at him, causing Ro to frown.
“We’re aboard the Hammersley.”
Leo snorted.
“Yeah, no shit Sherlock.”
Robert blinked a few times.
“How? Why?”
2Dads shrugged.
“I carried you to the shore. Just like I promised. There, I set off a flare and the others came and rescued us.”
He made it sound like it was the easiest thing in the world. And it seemed like it actually was to him.
“Swaino took a look at your foot. He took care of first aid, but we’re heading to the home port, so that the doctors at the hospital can treat it properly. He also said you had a hell lot of luck. The wound was already infected.”
Ro stared at his foot which was wrapped in bandages. Then his eyes moved back to 2Dads.
“So you actually saved my life,” he concluded and Leo smirked.
“Looks like it. But of course you don’t need to thank me. I know that’s not your style. I just wanted to wait here until you wake up.” The blond got up from his chair and was just about to leave, when Robert grabbed his wrist and held him back.
“2Dads. You saved my life. Of course I’m grateful. And of course I will thank you for it.”
They looked at each other for a long moment. An awkward silence filled the room and eventually Leo cleared his throat.
“Uhm, y-yeah. You’re welcome, Robert. Just… pay for my beer next time and we’re good.”
Ro nodded. However, he wouldn’t just buy his crew mate one beer, but all the drinks he wanted for the next few years.
And, in the end, the team building exercise had actually worked. For the two of them had gotten closer.
McCoy walked slowly into the simulator hall. He forced his breathing to stay even. Cora was already standing beside their simulator. The prince blew out a quiet breath and began to walk over to join her:
“Leonard.”
McCoy looked to his right and saw Lt. Flores motioning to him. He gave a wave hello to Cora and joined the lieutenant.
“I’m sure Cadet Keenser has told you the plan?”
McCoy nodded slowly, trying to keep his face neutral.
“I think it’ll be good for you,” Flores continued. “You’ll get it over with and won’t have to worry or stress yourself out anymore. And, I know you will do a fine job.”
“I hope so sir,” McCoy sighed.
“No. Tell yourself you know so,” Flores said. “Everything will be perfectly safe. I will have my set of controls if anything gets out of hand. And,” he lowered his voice. “If something happened and you didn’t pass- unlikely of course- I will allow you a second try. Not everyone gets that you know.”
“I appreciate it sir.” McCoy took a deep breath. “I will try my best.” He tried to believe his own words.
Flores reached up and squeezed his shoulder.
“I thought this afternoon we could review some of your best strategies, seeing as your exam is tomorrow.” Dr. Cuthbert smiled across at McCoy.
McCoy attempted to return the smile, but it was a weak effort.
“They didn’t work today,” he said quietly.
“That’s understandable Leonard,” Dr. Cuthbert said. “Tomorrow will be a new day and a fresh try. Remember when you flew before?”
“That was barely anything,” McCoy objected.
“It was still something,” Dr. Cuthbert countered. “And don’t you remember how it left you feeling?”
“Scotty was there,” McCoy said stubbornly. “And it was only a few feet up and over.”
Dr. Cuthbert smiled gently at him. He had well learned how obstinate McCoy could be.
Scotty was waiting in the lobby when McCoy exited Dr. Cuthbert’s office. He stood up and hugged McCoy tightly.
“I can see you’re still worried, love,” Scotty told him as they began to leave the building. “I’ve got an entire evening plan to help ye relax.”
“You do?”
“Aye. We’re going to order in some food, read or watch something, and forget about everything else.”
“What about our homework?” McCoy chuckled. Even with his worries, Scotty was soothing his thoughts already.
“We’ve got the weekend haven’t we?” Scotty grinned. “We’ll get it done, just not tonight. Tonight is all about making you relax.”
Part 734
Scotty
“How are ye feeling, mo ghràdh?” Scotty asked quietly as he ran his fingers through Leonard’s hair, caressingly. They had just finished watching a movie and were now trying to find some sleep.
Leonard snuggled closer into his husband’s side and sighed softly.
“I’m okay. Spending time with the most gorgeous man in the universe sure helped to sooth my mind,” he replied and Scotty chuckled.
“Huh, I thought ye are the most gorgeous man in the universe.”
“Nah, you are.”
“Ye.”
“You.”
“Ye.”
They both started to laugh.
“Agree to disagree,” Leonard eventually said and moved his head to give Scotty a kiss. “Honestly though, thank you for the nice evening, leannan.”
“Ye’re welcome. Now, let’s get some sleep. We need to be well-rested for classes tomorrow.”
“Yeah. Especially me.”
Scotty could hear the slightest hint of worry in Leonard’s voice, so he pulled his beloved closer.
“Ye’ll do great. I’m sure. Here, let me read to ye until ye fall asleep.”
He reached for the book on the nightstand, but Leonard stopped him by grabbing his hand.
“No need for that. Just hold me in your arms. That’ll be enough.”
“Alright. Anything ye need, mo ghràdh. Anything ye need.”
“Is Bones ready for his flight test?” Jim asked Scotty in class on the next morning. The Scotsman let out a sigh.
“I hope so. I tried my best to distract him from his worries yesterday and it worked, but this morning he looked quite nervous again.”
“Yeah, I thought so too at breakfast,” Jim agreed, nodding thoughtfully. “Spock was worried, too. Well, as worried as he can be with his Vulcan half. But I assured him that Bones will do great.”
“If only Len would believe it himself. It’s hard to see him so scared. I wish I could give him the confidence he needs.”
Jim placed a hand on Scotty’s shoulder and squeezed it.
“Don’t worry. Once this whole test situation is over, he’ll be back to his normal self.”
“Aye, ye’re right. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed this morning.”
“Sure thing, bro,” Jim said with a grin on his face, holding up his already crossed fingers, and Scotty laughed.
“If we really keep them like that the whole morning, I’m sure they’ll hurt later on.”
Jim just shrugged his shoulders.
“So what! It’s Bones! For him, we’ll endure the pain.”
They both laughed a little bit too loud and their instructor sent them a meaningful glare, causing the two of them to fall silent. Still, they continued to smile at each other.
Chief Petty Officer Andy “Charge” Thorpe held up his hands and lowered his head. The weapon pointed at him was enough to convince him that he had messed up pretty bad.
He hadn’t meant to deceive his captors. Really! Well, not at first anyway. But as the officer had worked on the ship’s engines a plan slowly formed in his head.
Charge knew that if he could keep the engines broken long enough, it bought him some time for the others to find and rescue him.
It had been quite a good plan.
However, he hadn’t expected the men who had taken him to find out that he was manipulating the machines. He hadn’t thought that they were clever enough to see it.
But, unfortunately, Andy had been very wrong about that.
And now he paid the price for it.
“You tried to play us, huh? You thought we wouldn’t notice it!” The man spit at the ground next to Andy and swore in his native language. “Who do you think we are, navy bastard?!”
For a short moment, Charge considered giving an honest answer, but he decided that—for his own sake—it was wiser to bite his tongue. He had been beaten up quite badly already.
“I can fix it. I swear!”
Blood was running from a wound on his forehead where the guy had hit him with his gun earlier, dripping into his eye. Andy blinked it away.
“I swear.”
Another blow hit his head and the engineer fell to the ground. A kick to the ribs sent him sprawling and he coughed.
“Come on, man! You know I’m the only one able to fix your engines,” Charge croaked and groaned in pain. He needed to convince the guy that they needed him alive.
“Ha! You will trick us again, won’t you?”
His captor grabbed the engineer by the shirt, pulled him closer and pressed the gun right to his forehead.
Charge closed his eyes and shook his head.
“I won’t. I will fix everything. I promise.”
He put as much honesty into his look as he could and met the cold eyes of his counterpart.
For a long moment the two men stared at each other, before the other man eventually let go of Andy, pushing him away.
Charge was able to break his fall with his arms, yet still he hit the ground harshly.
“Fine! But I swear that if you’ll betray us again, I will put a hole in your head.”
With that the guy walked over to a close by chair and sat down. With his gun, he motioned for Andy to get up and get back to work and the officer followed the order.
He knew that he couldn’t risk tampering with the engines again. Or else he’d be dead in no time.
As Charge worked on the problem, he felt the cold hard stare of his captor on his back. If only he could catch the man by surprise. If only—
The sound of loud voices on deck caught the other man’s attention, and the engineer used his chance right away.
He swirled around and, despite his body aching, jumped at the other, overpowering him.
When his crew mates eventually got to him, Charge just smiled at them, exhausted.
