After all the work we've put in creating content for Boyo Soap, it's normal that we want to take a break...
Soap's contribution was being cute and fluffy!
Hello everyone!
Have you seen our most recent update?
We have added new information in the Welfare hub:
-Yersiniosis, a bacterial disease;
-Splayed legs, the causes and how to take care of them;
-Slobbers, or excessive salivation;
-Fatty liver, a very deadly issue, and;
-Uterine cancer, more common than you think.
There are also two new pages!
Our Video Lounge, where you will be able to find all videos regarding rabbit welfare.
And the Posters and Resources page, where you will be able to find and download posters and other images such as this:
We have seen the horrible case of the Humane Societies of Southern Arizona and San Diego, and we are devastated by the news. Of the 300+ animals that were transported looking for a better life, 260 are presumed dead. 162 Guinea pigs; 72 Rabbits; 24 Rats, and; 2 Hamsters. Animals that should've had a second chance, that suffered, that were hoping for a better life, and that were robbed of it. We will remember all of our little friends for their strength, and thank them for all the love they were able to provide before their lives were taken away. Regardless of where you live, please sign this petition, where we are demanding to know more information. https://chng.it/C5cFMJRcw9 Rest in peace little ones.
Hey rabbit lovers! We've got fantastic news!
Boyo Soap is up and ready for all of you again.
And this comes with two cool updates:
The Welfare Hub, and;
Translations! (currently only in Spanish).
Hopefully in the future we will be able to translate to other languages (contact us if you're interested).
From now on, we will work on the monthly updates, on new features, and on other projects within Boyo Soap.
Thank you for waiting and enjoy the content!
Hello everyone.
Sadly, Boyo Soap will be unavailable for some time.
Once it's back up and ready we will create a post!
Best regards,
Marga Jackson - Boyosoap's designer.

Update soon? Yes!
Did you hear? We are close to a new update!
What is greater? Being able to create an account with us and accessing many wonderful features or being able to research many welfare themes about rabbits and learning a lot about their health? How about both at the same time!
We are working hard to deliver both Accounts and the Welfare Hub by the end of the month, so stick around and see what we've got to offer!
Let me tell you, it's getting very interesting! Also, here is the icon for the login tab that's going to be in the navbar.
Isn't it great?
Whoops! The site will show no rabbits for a while. We are currently working on making the data bases, and IONOS is not making it easy, so we are going the long way through.
Luckily, tomorrow or the 12, all the pictures will be added back.
And after that... Well, you can guess by knowing what databases do! But let me tell you, it's very exciting!
And after that... We still have 20 themes to write to finish the welfare hub! But soon enough, we will get it!
To increase site and social media visits, we were thinking about doing some games or puzzles with you, but before that, we want to set up a clear incentive for you to participate.
We want to give you something that you can use and enjoy, but there are many things that are part of that description.
So we want to ask you:
If you were to periodically receive a free product or service from a website, what would you prefer?
Branded bags, pins, cups...
Download images, emote packs..
Coupons or discounts for shops
Other... Write below!
We're working on the Welfare Hub. What do you think? We have 34 topics selected from the websites we use as references, and we are very thankful to them, as they not only provide very good information, but also leads to other issues that may need to be included here, in the Welfare Hub.
We ensure all the information is correct, and if there is a need, we cross-examine information with other sources.
Although you will discover these references once the Welfare Hub is published, we want to thank them from here: Special thanks to the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund, and The Educated Rabbit, you have not only taught me but thousands of people how to properly care for their pet rabbits, and hopefully, will continue to do so for a long time. Thanks to all of the other sites or blogs we're using to complete this feature.
You can find some of them here:

If you want to help us to create the content in the site and deliver the best knowledge to people worldwide please contact us or apply to our current volunteering opening in LinkedIn!
Natural history of rabbits
Do you know your rabbits? Do you know where these come from? (Part 2)
An extinct rabbit closer to us was the Nuralagus Rex. Inhabitant of the Spanish island of Menorca, Nuralagus was one of the biggest rabbit species to roam the earth, having double the weight of modern Flemish Giants. In their paper, Quintana, J., et al. (2011) explain with great detail the specimens found near Cala es Pous, and attaches pictures and drawings of the bones found, and how these would've connected together. They believe Nuralagus R.'s size came from a biological phenomenon called insular gigantism, which occurred thanks to the lack of predators. Nurulagus' reconstructions suggest that they were not able to hop like rabbits nowadays.
Similarly to Nuralagus, Amami rabbits (Pentalagus furnessi) are Leporids found only in the Amami islands, north of Okinawa, in the Ryūkyū archipelago. These rabbits are endangered, and although they are protected, the destruction of their habitats is still legally permitted, and certain animals brought by humans actively hunt them. There are though shelters that protect them and ensure their survival. The nice thing about Amami rabbits is that they are thought to be directly (and barely) evolved from the rabbits that were roaming Asia in the Pliocene, creating a direct connection with not only Asian rabbits, but with all the rabbits of the same epoch. That means that they are key to reconstruct and understand many of those extinct animals.
A thing the two of them have in common are their head to body ratio, having very big bodies. Their heads (especially Amami rabbits') are accompanied by very small ears and eyes.
Have you learned anything about rabbit natural history? I hope so! Palaeontology for the general public usually includes dinosaurs, but earth has so many more stories to tell!
Natural history of rabbits.
Do you know your rabbits? Do you know where these come from? (Part 1)
The Lagomorphs have been around for a very long time, with fossil records found in Asia places the first appearance of Lagomorphs at around 60 million years ago, in the Paleocene.
Most of the fossil data analysed from Lagomorphs (and the common way of differentiating between the subspecies) are their molars! From Mimolagus to Nuralagus, the only consistent thing found throughout time were their molars.
With them we can see when the Lagomorphs around the Paleocene and the Eocene divide into the now well-known two families: the Ochotonids (Pikas) and Leporids (Rabbits and hares).
Gobiolagus (Asia) was first described by Burke (1941), and fossil analysis can be seen done by Meng, J., et al. (2005), where we see similarly-structured teeth and no teeth spurs!
Mytonolagus (US), also described by Burke (1934) also had similar teeth structure, with the main difference with Gobiolagus being the length of said teeth.
(Continued in the second part)
We are already working in the Welfare Hub, and this will be the navigation bar icon! Do you like it?
Baby Soap makes an appearance to remind you that you have to take care of your rabbits and love them dearly.
All icons in the website appear as images in the main page! I challenge you to find them all! We have also decided how the Welfare Hub will be structured. On the right you will have a panel with short descriptions, sources and resources to investigate more profoundly every theme, organised alphabetically. On the left you will find a fast navigation bar where individual themes will be displayed. A click on these will rapidly send you to wherever you need. For now, we will be basing the information and sources in two main pages: The Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF) from the UK, and The Educated Rabbit from the US. You can find them here: https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk https://www.theeducatedrabbit.com These two have greatly helped me when I needed information the most (and have saved Soap's life once), and are great sources of information for both general care and emergencies.
Haven't you heard? A new update has arrived! We have updated our "About" page, and included a "Future Plans" page to see what we will do in the future! Sadly, we have issues with smaller devices and how some things look like, but if you are in a PC, you can definitively enjoy this new experience. Check it out here. And remember to click on the bunny!
Boyo Soap is now in Tumblr! You must be wondering: "What is Boyo Soap?" Boyo Soap is a webpage that brings an expanding amount of services for bunny lovers and rabbit owners. But for now, what you can find is: Our main page, where you can find a welcoming text and a lovely image of a rabbit! The image changes every minute, but you can change it at will for your preferred dose. You can also find the "Other Organisations" tab, where you can find associations and organisations that work towards rabbit wellbeing and rescue, as well as feral rabbit rescuing, and more. Some of these even help other animals! In the future, we are hoping to include new features, such as a "Welfare hub" where you can find easy access to wellbeing and care information, or registering forms, so you can easily send us any pictures, ideas, or associations you may know to later add them to the hopefully growing list. We will use Tumblr to announce updates and to talk with you! If you do visit our page, we urge you to send us an email with a picture of your bunny or an association you know, and help us develop a nice place! So, would you give Soap a try?
