“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.” â€â€Psalms‬ â€23‬:â€1‬-â€2‬ â€NKJV‬ https://www.instagram.com/p/CqYfFd8Ls8y/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Nothing shouts Spring has sprung better than when the sooner state’s favorite tree comes out in red. It’s no tall tale that its flowers are pollinated by long-tongued bees or that its flowers are fit for human consumption either raw or fried. The caper about its buds is that when pickled they can stand in for capers. The first Americans made a medicinal tea from its bark and would roast their seeds for a tasty snack as they are part of the legume family. Their leaves are moth-eaten as a variety of butterflies and moths eat their leaves. The U.S.A.’s first father liked them so much he transplanted them from the woods near his home and into his garden. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqV_1JMpK0v/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
That time you are doing your best impression of a prairie dog but still keeping an eye on where the nearest tree is located. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqVLSQ0rDdL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
I’m waxing philosophically about you as you hang in the evening sky waxing. A waxing crescent is what they call you. When I hear the word crescent I can only distill sebaceous thoughts of consuming those airy buttery Gallic rolls in a cafe in the French quarter of the Crescent City. Or perhaps you show up in alternate visions of Shiva, Diana, Artemis, Ishtar, Astarte, or even the mother Mary. In the end you represent to me a beautiful nighttime constant that for now grows larger each day until completeness. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqTWAorLiEp/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Spring is usually seen as a meteorological or botanical event, but nothing quite says Spring like a spring calf. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqRXAc-LxyV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Even though the march of time works its entropy on human constructs Spring is the reminder of the divine promise that all things will be made new. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqRIkkuLrGj/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
“The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.” â€â€Psalm‬ â€37‬:â€23‬-â€24‬ â€ESV‬‬ https://www.instagram.com/p/CqQ-pHapJ64/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
There you grow beneath the wing and claw of the corvid you are supposed to be the bane of. A flower mostly known for false impressions of an herb that cures all ills. You have no medicinal qualities and are venomous to the world’s greatest scavenger only in the native’s hands. Yet you to me are a blessed beauty, a sign that spring is here. Oklahoma City, OK. Nothoscordum bivalve also known as false garlic, crow’s bane, or crow’s poison https://www.instagram.com/p/CqO4fuxLxOU/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
“The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around goes the wind, and on its circuits the wind returns.” â€â€Ecclesiastes‬ â€1‬:â€6‬ â€ESV‬‬ https://www.instagram.com/p/CqN12ShrT3a/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
“Ten thousand gallons an hour. And look at my waterfall. That's the most important thing. It's mixing my chocolate. It's actually churning my chocolate. You know, no other factory in the world mixes its chocolate by waterfall. But it's the only way if you want it just right . . .” - Willy Wonka https://www.instagram.com/p/CqL2x8ALzig/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
“Trust the LORD and do good; live in the land, and farm faithfulness. Enjoy the LORD, and he will give what your heart asks. Commit your way to the LORD! Trust him! He will act and will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like high noon. Be still before the LORD, and wait for him. Don’t get upset when someone gets ahead— someone who invents evil schemes.” â€â€Psalms‬ â€37‬:â€3‬-â€7‬ â€CEB‬‬ https://www.instagram.com/p/CqLMEzqOMj0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
The American robin is associated at times with winter and for some it is associated with spring. This is probably due to its year-round presence in the southern parts of the U.S.A. A welcome sight, I always associate robins with extracting worms from the ground after a rain, as they are ground feeders most of the time. From their whitish eyeliner to their orange-red colored breast they are a beautiful bird. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqJ0LacLYxr/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Waking up with you on my mind. Thinking about your steamy warmth and how I can only handle you with a bit of sweetness. I smell your intoxicating aroma wafting through the room and it draws me in like a two pound bass on a 50 lb test line. Ok, I admit it, I need you. So what affectionate name of do I call you by?: perk, Jo, cuppa, jamocha, java, tisane, decoction, or mocha. And if we want to get dirty about it: mud, ink, dirty bean water, worm dirt, or sludge. Nothing but you are the best at saying, “Wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey!”. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqJlQmNr_q8/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Flying, floating, gliding, and sailing across the lake propelled by an unseen hand, an invisible force that sustains itself so well in this land of flat topography. If only I was as consistent in my devotion to the One who calms the wind and waves with a word as the steady flow before me. Being still and waiting goes against my natural inclination for instant gratification, but it is where real freedom is found. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqILX25uIk_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
“The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation”, wrote Henry David Thoreau. Well, John of Arcadia is not the mass of men, he is a one of kind whirling dervish ball of energy; a cross between Michelangelo, an F1 mechanic, and Johnny Cash. You see he has found his joy de vivre in his collection of Route 66 replicas which has fabricated and now shares them for free anytime his gate is open to anyone interested. No, he is the antithesis to a life of desperation, he lives a life of joy as he even now as he is restoring a 1936 ford roadster. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqGgUvCJzG6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
I always admire the beauty that grows in the cracks in the sidewalks and driveways unattended, unwanted, and mostly unnoticed. These have my respect more than the finest horticulture because they are fighters and survivors and are generally tough as nails. Oklahoma City, OK. Erodium cicutarium, also known as common stork's-bill https://www.instagram.com/p/CqE0LzfuzSE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Reflection for the day: At times our reflection is a clearer, more honest image of who we are than the actual image we put forth to others. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqDKc5dL88Z/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
